PAIRING: Peter Parker x popular!Reader

PROMPT: After getting dumped by her jock boyfriend, the reader and her friends come up with a rebound plan that involves the quiet nerd, Peter Parker.

(A/N: Sorry for making you a bitch😂 It's just for the sake of the blurb. But it was really fun to write this so I hope it's just as fun to read it)

"You're breaking up with me?!" I yell, containing myself from screaming.

My boyfriend Josh was this close to becoming a victim in a crime scene.

Although the middle of the cafeteria might not be the best place to commit a murder.

Too many witnesses.

And you can be sure that they were all watching the show.

"There's someone else and let's be honest it's not like we were that serious anyway," Josh says.

I glare at him with my arms crossed.

Even with my friends at my side I felt small.

Power in numbers wasn't working.

"That is not how this works. You don't get to break up with me!" My confidence rang throughout the cafeteria.

Josh shrugs.

"Looks like I just did," he remarks.

My mouth flies open at his insolence.

I resist the urge to stomp my foot like a child.

I turn away from him, my friends following close behind to comfort me.

I was still so upset about my break up when English class started.

It felt like everyone knew about it.

Being popular definitely had its perks but when everyone watches your every move, one mistake can ruin your social life.

If I didn't play my cards right I could end up at the bottom with the *shudder* others.

Yes, I'm sure they're nice and cute, so are dogs but I don't want be one.

Who would want to spend the whole day wallowing away in their own filth?

Not me, that's for sure.

Instead of normal class we were doing some sort of activity with the school's psychologist.

Something to do with kindness and self esteem.

I was too emotionally distraught to care.

"Now I'm going to randomly match you up with a partner and you are going to tell them at least one nice thing about them," the psychologist says.

She begins pairing us up.

I prayed to be with (f/#1/n) so I wouldn't have to do anything.

Of course the universe was out to get me today.

The teacher matched me up with some brown haired boy that sat in the back.

I didn't move and made him come over to me instead.

He didn't seem so into the activity as well.

With curt greetings we began.

By that I mean he went first and listed a couple generic complements about me.

Ones that I have heard many times before.

My eyes glazed over when it was my turn.

"I'm sorry I can't do this," I say, quite dramatically.

The boy rolled his eyes.

(F/#1/n) pleaded with the teacher to excuse me from the class due to 'emotional problems'.

I shot her a grateful smile.

The teacher dismissed me.

Before I left the classroom the psychologist said
that I could see her afterwards if I wanted to talk, but I told her it wasn't necessary.

The next day (f/#1/n) and (f/#2/n) were already coming up with a rebound plan during lunch.

They were talking it out while I was staring at Josh and his apparently new girlfriend, Amber.

His arm draped around her.

It was enough to make my blood boil.

"Is it my hair, or my clothes?" I ask out loud, touching each as I said them.

"No, (Y/N), you're perfect,"
(f/#2/n) assured me.

"How is she more popular than me?" I question, narrowing my eyes at the semi pretty girl.

"She's not," (f/#1/n) says.

"She's going to win prom queen. Josh is the football captain. Whoever goes to prom with him is basically a shoe-in for the crown. And I'm not going to lose everything I have worked for, especially not to Amber," I say.

My friends nod their heads.

"Maybe you could make him jealous?" (F/#1/n) suggests.

"Yes!" (F/#2/n) agrees, "Josh really likes you. If he sees you with someone else, he'll definitely want you back."

It takes a minute to acknowledge their plan.

I sniffle, holding back a couple tears threatening to spill.

"Okay, that could work," I say, "but who should be the other guy?"

The two girls started listing off name of guys at our school.

I kept rejecting them for different reasons.

"Sean?" (F/#2/n) says.

I shake my head.

"He has a girlfriend. I can't do that," I swallow, "again."

They keep thinking.

"What about Flash?" (F/#1/n) asks.

I give her a look and subtly gesture towards (f/#2/n).

She nods her head.

"Right. Bad idea," she says.

A couple minutes go by.

I nibble at my food, not really hungry.

"How about Peter Parker?" (F/#2/n) questions.

I scrunch up my eyebrows at her.

"Who?" I ask, not recognizing the name.

"Oh, yeah," (f/#1/n) exclaims, "he's the boy that you got paired up with for that stupid psychology activity yesterday. He's actually kind of cute." A smirk plastered across her face.

"I hadn't notice," I admit.

"He's over there with two other... weirdos," (f/#2/n) points out.

I follow her gaze to one of the lunch tables with three people sitting at it.

Peter, another boy, and a girl with a purple streak in her curly hair.

That explained (f/#2/n)'s disgust.

Being the fashion guru she is, seeing outdated fashion choices was enough to make her gag.

But (f/#1/n) was right.

He did have some potential.

"From what I know, he doesn't have a girlfriend and he isn't all that popular, but you could change that."

My eyes glanced over his appearance.

"Peter Parker," I mumble to myself
