It had been Tony's idea to go on a walk. 

It was Steve who found the cat.

 It was Clint - and he's slightly allergic to cats - who picked it up and brought it to the tower.

 And who got stuck with cleaning the Litter boxes?

Natasha Fricking Romanoff, who most definitely not give them permission to take the cat.

It really was unfair, and as she squatted next to the plastic tray and began shoveling through the litter, Nat realized she didn't have to.

Tasha put the stuff down and stalked to the living room. She saw Bucky first, and figured he could do it. She plopped down next to him on the couch and flippantly remarked, "Clean out the litter boxes."

 Bucky looked horrified, but at Natasha's glare he gladly went. He came back later wondering how a cute creature created so much excrement. 

It was another day when Nat felt like doing the chore, and when she reached into the plastic bag storage, there were none without holes. 

When Bruce found her next she was curled up and crying at the injustice of it all.

A different day, when the Genius Vision suggested a team walk, the Avengers happened upon another cat. Peter, the poor baby, was the one who asked if they could take it home. If it had been anyone else, they would be dead, but Natasha nodded reluctantly and stewed in her anger all the walk home.

In the days that followed, they needed another littler box. The new kitten was even worse, and provided another ten minutes of work. Nat really wanted to murder someone.

Eventually Nat got sick of the chore. She refused to clean the litter boxes, kept her door closed, and opened everyone else's. 

Did she mention how much cat pee reeks?

Steve couldn't get the smell out of his uniform for a month, and Wanda's comforter was ruined.

Did Natasha feel guilty? A little. 

Was it effective? Yes, she never cleaned another litter box again.
