Infinity War
Major Spoilers, the Grandmaster shall see you later.
* * *
At first, it was a normal day. Nothing was out of the ordinary, and everything was fine. Well, Mr. Rogers had Peter sign some papers because of 'some film' and he didn't think he would be in it, but that was it.
Oh, and he got a full five hours of sleep, which was a record for him after... you know, the Unspeakable Events.
Peter really didn't listen to the talk and only signed where he was told, but it probably wasn't important.
It was.
Cue another boringly ordinary school day a few months later. Surprise, there was an assembly to watch an educational film on The Snap.
"Dude, what do you think the movie is gonna be like?" Ned asked Peter, clearly excited at the prospect of watching a movie and skipping class.
Peter just shrugged. He had better things to worry about, after all, and the movie would probably be student-made with horribly cheesy green screen skills. Nothing worth getting excited over.
"Come on Bro, you've gotta be at least a little excited. It's a movie!" Ned insisted, poking Peter's side.
Peter stayed quiet.
"He's probably had a traumatic experience with The Snap and is worried about his panic attacks." A voice reasoned.
Startled, Peter looked over. It was MJ, cooly staring at the pair over a nice thick book.
Immediately Ned looked down. "Sorry man, I forgot about the whole fiasco."
Peter smiled painfully. "Its alright."
It clearly wasn't, but Ned dropped the subject. Peter was glad that he did.
The pair, now a trio, went to homeroom. From there they were sent to the gym and sat on bleachers. A projector was set up and before long the film had started.
White words on a black background appeared.
For the safety of identity, some faces have been blurred.
The first scene was a short introduction of Thanos, explaining who he was and what he was doing. There was also some information on the Infinity Stones.
Before the second scene, words filled the screen.
*Viewer discretion: violence*
The screen was still blank, words faded away and audio faded in. The voice was panicked.
"Requesting help from any ship nearby, we are being attacked. We are made up of Asgardian families, I repeat help! There are no warriors on this vessel!!"
Color faded in, although it was still dark. Bodies were littered on the ship, and in the midst of it all, was Thanos.
Peter knew this. He knew what would happen, but he couldn't look away.
Ebony Maw, introduced with small text on the screen, began to speak. "Do not fret, for you are dying at the hands of the Mighty Thanos! Your death is not meaningless, and will help the embetterment of the universe! May you suffer no longer."
Thor appeared. He was stopped quickly, and a voice spoke from off screen.
"We have a hulk."
A roar filled the gymnasium, and nearly beat Thanos. Alas, he did not.
Hiemdall spoke his last words, in a hope that this world would not end just yet, and called upon the bifrost to take Banner. A spear later, he was gone.
Thor's cries of anguish from his metal chains were heard, but the camera panned over. Thanos spoke about his plans to go to earth, and suddenly Peter saw someone he thought he would never see again.
Loki. He stood there, a regal air about him as he spoke. "Oh Mighty Thanos, if you're going to earth you might want a guide with experience."
Thanos expressed his doubts before Loki spoke again. "I, Loki, rightful king of Jotunheim, and the throne of Asgard, Odinson... do pledge to you my... undying fidelity." Loki held up the Tesseract, the angle of the camera showing a concealed dagger.
It happened in a flash and Loki was dead, bloodshot eyes staring out at a world that had been so cruel to him. He would not rest, but be near Thor in his journeys.
The villains left after setting the ship on fire and the camera focused on Thor clutching Loki.
The screen held Text again before returning to video.
*Stones Acquired: Two*
It now showed the Guardians rescuing Thor, but Peter was too sorrowful to acknowledge the humor.
Cut scene, now it was New York, in the Sanctum. Bruce was there, and soon so was someone else.
Tony. Tony was there, he was real, there, speaking, Tony was reluctant to call on Steve... Tony. It was all Peter could think about. How?
Suddenly it grew eerily silent, and Stark stepped outside. It was chaos.
"Earth is closed today. That means get lost, Squidward!" Tony quipped, before a full battle broke out.
The camera skipped the fiasco inside of the bus, but It showed a school bus, number and district that it belonged to blurred, with a masked Spider-Man clinging to its side.
"Dude its you!" Whispered Ned gleefully.
"Yeah. So it is." Peter whispered back.
It showed the battle... save the wizard... it was all coming back to Peter like a whirlwhind in his mind. It was too much he was going to die he couldn't breathe...
He was gonna take off his mask! Oh my god, everyone was going to know..
"I cant breathe!" Movie-Peter said, whipping off his mask. His face was blurred, it was fine.
"Let go Pete. I'll catch you."
It was not fine!
Some people wrote the nickname down, they wanted to know who Spider-Man was. Others didn't care. At any rate, the movie continued.
They rescued Strange before the scene cut again.
Wanda. Vision. Rouge Avengers. They were in Wakanda, and Bucky was there.
"Earth just lost her best defender." The scene cut again.
It was back to Thor. He got his axe. The camera switched scenes.
Gamora was taken. She was thrown. She didn't deserve any of this, but it happened. Thanos had two more stones.
"A soul for a soul."
"No. No, this isn't love!"
*Stones Acquired: four*
Titan. Peter Quill held Peter tightly, pressing a gun to his temple. They talked, they needed a plan.
Oh, god was Peter gonna watch his dusting?
He didn't have time to dwell on such questions; Strange was going all weird.
"How many did we win?"
"...One."
Peter couldn't tell what was film and what was memory replaying itself in his mind. He hated it. Hadn't he gone through enough pain already?
The battle ensued, with minor injuries. They held Thanos down. They still wouldn't win.
"Where's Gamora?"
"Tell me you didn't."
"Shut it Quill! We've almost got it!"
They didn't get it. A desperate last attempt ensued. They couldn't let Thanos close his fist, he couldn't win.
"Tony Stark."
"How do you Know me?"
"You aren't the only one cursed with knowledge."
"I hope they remember you."
Thanos took his weapon and stabbed Tony. He stood alone, no one at his back, suddenly and utterly hopeless. He was going to die, right here.
"Stop! Spare his life and I shall give you the stone."
"No tricks?"
"No tricks."
*Stones Acquired: five*
Wakanda was in view now, and after a few minutes of dialogue the armies were set up in defense of their home. This was it, it was the last stand of the Avengers.
"What happened? They surrender?"
".. Not exactly."
"Looking for conformation. You said open the barrier?"
The fight started out okay. Slowly, then more and more rapidly, things went downhill. You weren't sure if they would make it. Peter knew it got a whole lot worse.
At last, in the moment of need, Thor arrived. He began to plow down the Outliers, crushing all in his path. It seemed the tides were turning.
"Bring. Me. Thanos!"
"Haha, you guys are so screwed now!"
Peter watched, horrified, as he recognized the events that happened now. Wanda wasn't guarding Vision now. It was a trap.
"She's not alone."
Before long a blue portal appeared, and out stepped none other than the purple scumbag himself.
Wanda began to destroy the stone in Vision's head, tears flooding down her face. She held off Thanos with one hand, and for a few seconds the tension was high.
" You could never hurt me. All I feel is you."
"I love you."
Thanos had the time stone, and reversed Wanda's powers.
*Stones Acquired: Six*
It was a last ditch attempt, and it was clear that this would not end in victory. Suddenly, like an angel, Thor appeared. His axe flew, embedding itself in Thanos' chest.
"You should have gone for the head."
Thor looked horrified, and Thanos did what he always threatened he'd do. He snapped.
The dusting began, some ready to go, some puzzled, some whispering heartbreaking lines. Half of the good in this world was gone.
One last scene. The words Peter dreaded most.
"Mr Stark?"
"You're okay kid."
"I- I dunno what's happening, I don't- I don't want to go, mr. Stark, Im sorry." Peter's unmasked and blurred face looked up at Tony as he faded away, so innocent and not deserving of the pain he went through.
None of them did.
The audio ended abruptly. Silence filled the bleachers as three words filled the screen.
*End Part One*
