Carol opened her arms. "What's up, Frosty?"
Loki ran forward and hugged the woman, sighing in relief. "I'm so glad you're here, Danvers."
She raised an eyebrow. "You missed me, green bean? I must be dead."
Pouting, Loki said, "Don't joke about that."
As Carol went to apologize, Loki's mood took a complete 180 and suddenly he gasped. He grinned and giddily went to pull his pants legs up.
"Look at my socks, Carol! Morgan and I went out and got matching ones!" He was immensely proud of them, and Carol had to grin. The socks were blue, with little Mjolnirs on them. "Morgan insisted on Thor socks, but here, I got you these."
Loki handed something to Carol. They were socks, in the same style as his, but one pair was green with Loki's helmet and the other was blue, red, and yellow. The second pair had small stars, and it was clear that they were Captain Marvel socks.
Taking the socks, Carol smiled. She was glad he was making friends, even if it was with toddlers.
He took her hand and dragged her inside, towards the MedBay, and Morgan trailed behind them after they had passed the living room.
Loki let Bruce check Carol over for minor injuries, although he fretted unnecessarily over all of them, and Morgan watched with wide eyes.
"Kiki, is that Carol?" Morgan asked, pointing to the woman that was, indeed, Carol. Said woman was far too amused by the nickname.
Nodding sagely, Loki said, "Yes, Young Morgan. If you ask her nicely, maybe she'll go shopping with us tomorrow."
Morgan seemed a little scared, but Loki just kneeled down next to her. "You can even invite Peter!" The little girl perked up at her brother's name, "Besides, don't be scared of her. I should be scared of her, but not you."
"Yeah, Kiki, you should be scared." Carol laughed, catching Morgan's attention. Her check-up was done, so she had meandered over to where the pair was.
"NO! You don't get to use that nickname. Only me."
"Of course, Morgan. I am most sorry." Carol said, bowing elegantly.
The little Stark didn't seem to be too concerned over it, since she giggled and walked over to her to be picked up. Carol didn't really have a choice, and soon was holding Morgan on her hip as Loki grinned from next to them.
FRIDAY spoke up, catching the trio (Bruce had left soon after his job was done) by surprise.
Peter has said he would love to join you tomorrow for shopping, Loki Odinson.
"Thank you, dear FRIDAY. Please do remember to just call me Loki, however."
Of course, Loki. After a pause, Stark would like his daughter returned to him now. He is getting worried that you will steal her.
Carol and Loki walked back to the living room, Morgan clinging to Carol. Loki was far happier than he had been earlier, and was enjoying having Carol back in the compound.
Stark stood up as they walked in. "We should probably get going. Thanks for hanging out with her, see you tomorrow."
"No problem. I enjoyed it, and likewise." Loki said with a slight lift of his lips.
Morgan was transferred into her father's arms and waved. "Bye, Kiki! Bye, Carrie!" Apparently, she liked nicknames.

The next day, Loki was up early to prepare for a day on the town. Morgan liked shopping a lot and Loki was putty in her hands, so they usually went once every week or so. Sometimes others joined, sometimes they didn't.
He wore a suit, of course, and when Carol walked into the kitchen she was wearing a very casual outfit. Loki didn't know it, but she was wearing her green socks.
They still had time before Peter and Morgan got there, so they had breakfast together and chatted. Carol spoke about what she had been doing in space, and Loki talked about how he had talked with Rhodey and Natasha.
After moving to the couch, they watched some TV, barely internalizing any of it. Both were excited for the day to come, but refused to show it.
Finally, after what had felt like ages (and Loki knew what Ages felt like, believe him), Morgan and Peter were dropped off by Stark and Pepper. The couple went on dates while Morgan was out of the house, so that was why they hadn't complained yet about how frequent the prince stole their child.
Peter was holding Morgan, and used a free hand to wave as the older Starks drove off. Carol and Loki exited the compound and ushered the children into a car that had been previously set up.
"Hey Loki, hey Ms. Danvers." Peter said as he buckled Morgan into her car seat.
"Why do I get the formal title?" Carol asked, turning around in her seat to face the teen.
Peter shrugged. "Cause Loki's about my age. I wouldn't call my classmates sir or miss, it would be weird."
Carol turned to Loki. "I knew you were young in human years but that young? What, sixteen?"
"Eighteen! Besides, I mature faster, don't forget. I may as well be over twenty, okay glow-stick?"Loki protested, taking his hands off of the steering wheel to cross his arms and stick his bottom lip out.
Danvers chuckled, and after Peter was done with Morgan, Loki began to drive. They headed towards the city, because what was in the city?
The mall, of course.
When they had gotten there and parked, they began the walk towards the entrance. Morgan was chattering excitedly from her place in Loki's arms.
There was a little bit of paparazzi there, but it was under what Loki had been expecting. Not that he minded.
Morgan wanted to stop at the pet store, and Loki relented, only allowing her to look.
Next, they went to several different stores. They were leaving the clothes for last.
Carol got a poster of the avengers to hang in her spaceship, Loki got a new pair of (black) boots, Peter got a new backpack, of course, and Morgan got an Iron Man mug that everyone was aware she would never use.
But, she had wanted it.
Now, they stood in front of the clothing store. The number of paparazzi had gone steadily up as the day progressed, and Loki was anxious to get out of there.
They all got new sweatshirts, and Morgan got some Spider-Man slippers. Peter was happy about that.
They left the store, and Loki was eager to leave, but Carol and Morgan were having too much fun.
"Let's get a bite to eat! Come on, what's the harm." Carol begged. Then, she stopped. "Wait a minute, you're a child. Come along children, we're going to go get food!"
Loki opened his mouth indignantly. "Excuse you, Care-bear, I am over a thousand!" ...But he trailed after her anyway.
They found a pretty empty restaurant, and ate lunch very happily. Usually Morgan and Loki left after shopping, so she especially enjoyed the lunch. Peter and Carol gorged on hamburgers and fries, while Loki went for a chicken salad wrap.
After eating, they went to leave the restaurant only to find that the group of paparazzi had grown into a rowdy crowd. Loki sighed, fishing in his pockets for some earmuffs, since people got loud.
He found two, one for Morgan and one for Peter. Must have forgotten mine, he thought. No matter, he would survive.
Carol looked at him curiously. "Can't you just make one with your magic?"
Loki rolled his eyes. "I am a master of illusions. An illusion won't do much against real noise. Besides," He held up his wrists, which held thin metal cuffs, "the Media doesn't quite trust me yet, so I can't use magic in public."
They all took deep breaths, then opened the doors and raced out. Immediately, the commotion rose and questions were being asked, overwhelming Loki exponentially.
"Loki, are your powers still restricted in public?"
"Who is that boy?"
"Smile for the press, please!"
"Is that child Morgan Stark or is she yours?"
"Who is that lady? Who is she to you?"
"Sir! Ma'am! Over here, please!"
Loki had taken Morgan before they left, so he held her close and tries to force his way through the crowd. It wasn't budging, though, and he was quickly realizing how bad his senses were acting up.
Peter and Carol were close to him, so he handed off Morgan and tried to find a way out of the sea of reporters.
He grew disoriented, loosing sight of his companions. That was when he began to panic, and it only got worse.
~
Peter, Carol, and Morgan all made it safely to the car, but Loki was nowhere in sight. Carol frowned, and waited a minute before heading back in. She left Peter with Morgan, telling them to stay put.
She quite easily found the crowd again, and after a quick little hovering in midair, she located Loki. Crouched on the floor, trying to hide from the photographers.
Danvers charged up her fists. "Get back, everyone. Give him space." She meant business, and the paparazzi knew it from her glare and from her glowing hands.
Most obeyed, because what else would you do when faced with a super?
However, there was one man who stayed, pestering Loki with questions.
Carol tilted her head. "I won't ask again. Step away from the boy." She wasn't sure if the correct term was boy or man, but she didn't much care at the moment.
Loki was stirring from his crouch, as it had gotten drastically quiet.
The man stared at her. "Answer one of my questions and I will. I'm calling your bluff, because you don't want to be labeled on earth as a crazy, psycho bi-"
She cut him off with a light photon blast. "Luckily for me, I don't spend much time on earth." She said airily, hoisting Loki up and helping him to his feet.
It was slow moving to the car, but they made it.
They had to move people around though, since Loki was their driver and there was no way that he was in proper shape to be driving.
"You have your licence yet, kiddo?" Carol asked Peter.
"No, I've been too busy. Do you not have one?"
"Correct! This'll be fun." She said, turning to grin at Peter.
Stark wasn't too happy that his two kids were driven by someone who couldn't really drive, but he didn't yell because he saw how bad Loki looked.
~
Loki recovered, and after Morgan and Peter had left, he and Carol spent some time together. It was fun, Carol braiding his hair and him giving her tips on how to look effortlessly pretty (though he did stress that she didn't need them).
Loki missed Thor a lot, and Thor's visits were rare, but he got to see him. Carol stopped by every few weeks, so Loki saw quite a bit of her, especially when he would help her out occasionally on space missions. He visited New Asgard, too, which was flourishing under their new ruler (who Carol adored).
He spent a lot of time with Peter and Morgan, and even joined Peter in some college courses since he got bored easily.
Of course, he also helped the Avengers with missions and soon enough he was allowed out without the metal bracelets. Strange warmed up to him, too.
So yeah, his life wasn't perfect and he wasn't completely okay, but he was coping. He had people to talk to when his mind darkened, and friends, a family.
As he smiled across the dinner table at Bucky, who had just made a joke, he realized something.
For possibly the first time since he was born, Loki liked his life.
That made him smile more as he took another bite of whatever had been served to him.
Take that, Thanos.
