Endgame

Realized that i have never written a disclaimer. I dont own anything from the mcu. Enjoy this heartbreak.Major Spoilers

* * *

Peter was shaking. The assembly had ended, and his memories were fighting what he had seen. The school was quiet before another announcement crackled over the speaker.

-Please expect another assembly tomorrow. The anonymous film director released another movie for us to watch.-

And so Peter left the school, ignoring the looks of pity thrown his way. It wasn't a secret that he had it rougher than most. In fact, almost the entire school knew to avoid the topic around him. When Peter reached his apartment that he shared with Aunt May, no smile graced his features.

His old wounds resurfaced, aching and making him walk stiffly.

This didn't go unnoticed by May.

"Rough day sweetie?" She questioned.

Peter didn't answer, but that was what he did. He shut himself away until he was ready, and sometimes May wouldn't see him for days. It broke her heart, but she didn't know how to fix it.* * *Trudging into the school, Petee forced a slight smile onto his face. He was ready to learn, after all the movie would most likely be on after the Snap, which Peter wanted to see.

..other stuff... He didn't want to see.

Regardless of how he felt, he walked into the gym to sit down and await the film. Ned was less vocal than the day before, and sat quietly next to him.

Words filled the screen.

Endgame

Uncle Clint was there. He was teaching his daughter Archery, and this must've happened during the snap because soon his family was just dust in the wind.

Space

And so the film continued- A lone spaceship drifted in the expanse of space. It was beautiful, but chilling in a way that Peter couldn't describe.

He knew it as terror as soon as he recognized the person in the spaceship.

Tony Stark sat there, recalling his time on the ship and trying to say his goodbyes.

"It's always you."

"Pete, I guess I'm the one who should have said sorry. God, your aunt's gonna kill me."

Peter froze. The message Tony was recording was for him. He'd never seen this before, it couldn't possibly be real, could it?

He felt calmed a bit at the words, though, and nearly smiled when his auntie Carol showed up. Not for long though.

The reunion between broken teammates was somber and melancholy.

"Tony."

"Steve, I... I lost the kid."

Peter almost cried at Tony's anger toward Steve a few minutes later. Neither of them deserved it.

Five years later

What had happened? Peter knew. he'd heard all the stories- Steve liked to tell them. It was soothing to get it off of his back.

It started with a club of sorts, and Of course Steve would do that. Of course he would do that, in memory of the fallen.

Where do we go, now that they're gone?

There was no sign of Tony, and Peter knew where he was. When the clip changed he expected Tony to be next, but it showed a... rat?

It made sense in a second, as a disgruntled Scott Lang was thrown from his quantum device. His release from there was comical, but his terror at seeing what had happened was not.

Missing posters, the memorial... Stuff like that didn't just disappear. A lot of posters still remained, and nobody took them down.

Scott reunited with his daughter, but soon was on his way again, leaving the camera to pan over to Natasha Romanoff. She was doing what she could, but her worry for Clint was evident.

Peter knew what Clint was doing. Clint rarely spoke of it, but Peter had gathered enough clues to figure it out.

"Scott Lang, i-ah, I was in Germany? Yeah, can you buzz me in?"

"That's the front door."

Scott's theory was far-fetched, but Peter understood what he was going for. What the small team didn't have was Tony, so they went to ask his help.

He looked healthy, he looked happy. He was everything Peter had hoped he would be. He also refused to help, which surprised Peter, but he understood. Tony had Morgan on the line.

"I've got my second chance right here."

From one brain to the next. Bruce Banner was visited next, and a cringey scene occurred. It was hard to watch.

The movie jumped back to Tony washing the dishes. He sprayed water everywhere, making a few people giggle.

As Tony went to dry off pictures, he picked one up of him and Peter. The certificate was upside down and the faces were silly, but Tony really loved it.

People turned to seek put Peter in the crowd, to see if it was really Peter in a picture with Tony Stark.

The next scene was Tony trying different simulations and- wait. Was Peter the reason..? If Tony hadn't seen that picture... If Peter hadn't asked to take that picture in the first place... Would Tony... still be...ali-

Pete turned his attention back to the screen. By now he saw Tony's success, and had switched over to Nat and Clint.

"You shouldn't be here."

"Neither should you."

Back at the Compound. The comic relief of hilarious failure made the teens lighten up a little, but Peter stayed stiff and rigid.

When Tony arrived at the compound and made up with Steve, Peter smiled in despite of himself. When Bruce and Rocket went to get Thor, Peter knew what to expect. These were rough times, and Thor placed the failure on his shoulders. Luckily, with the promise of alcohol, Thor was bribed onto the team.

"Thor, he's doing it again."

"Ah, my old foe... Noobmaster69."

-

"We've got beer?"

With the dream team successfully put together and the test run going well, they set out on a mission.

"See you in a minute."

"Whatever it takes."

The next part switched frequently, but I'll make this an easier read, and block it up for you.Thor and Rocket headed to Asgard, and a sweet scene with Frigga proved to Thor that he wasn't over. He still had it in him, and he couldn't give it up yet. Peter internalized this message, and sat up a little straighter.

Words appeared on the screen quickly before moving on.

Stones Acquired: One

Next it showed New York. Bruce convinced the Keeper of The Stone to give up the time stone, and the movie proceeded to the attempt on the tesseract.

It was funny, admittedly, and Peter couldn't help but feel a bit happy at Loki's escape.

"I can do this all day."

"..Yeah, I know."

They did get the mind stone, and so Steve and Tony headed back further in time while Scott and Bruce went back to the future.

"Hail Hydra."

Stones Acquired: Three

Peter saw Tony's dad. There was a resemblance, and Peter was grateful that Tony got that closure with his father.

Steve saw Peggy, and Peter knew that the love was still there.

"You new here?"

"Not exactly."

Stones Acquired: Four

Now it was Space, and as Clint and Nat set off, the camera stayed on Rhodey and Nebula. It showed Star-Lord dancing like an idiot, which made Peter exhale what might have been a small laugh.

Quickly, they got the stone, but not before the past Nebula hindered her out of time counterpart. It them showed a sequence of Thanos hatching a plan. Peter's heart began to race at the sight of the villain, and he was filled with dread when past Nebula transformed.

Stones Acquired: Five

A small bit of chatter began. Only one left- but it was far from over.

"Natasha, daughter of Ivan."

"Clint, son of Edith"

So began the battle to be the one to save the other. Others hadn't heard of this and were on the edge of their seats, but Peter? No. He knew what happened.

He had just talked to Uncle Clint this morning. He was doing better.

"I don't judge people on their worst mistake."

"Maybe you should."

"You didn't."

-

"Please, let me do something good. It's okay."

Stones Acquired: Six

It switched quickly, and Clint dropped to his knees. While the others questioned where Nat was, they slowly realized what had happened. She wasn't coming back.Tony constructed his own infinity gauntlet, and although Bruce snapped everyone back, the victory was short lived.

A sudden attack from Thanos' ship blew the compound apart, rendering the heroes nearly dead.

Clint fell with the gauntlet, and skillfully evaded some of the monsters that tailed him.The entire room held their breath as he gave the gauntlet to the wrong Nebula, but it turned out fine.

At the same time, Scott was rushing to rescue all the rest besides the Power Trio. Bruce was supporting beams, trying his hardest as Rhodey and Rocket nearly drowned.

Meanwhile, Thor, Steve, and Tony looked at Thanos.

"What's he been doing?"

"Just sitting there."

"It's a trap."

"Yeah."

A battle broke out, starting spectacularly before going down hill. Peter watched painfully as Tony was thrown to the side, thoroughly beat up. Thor was getting it, too. Steve was carelessly tossed aside, but as Thanos pressed Stormbreaker to Thor's chest, Mjolnir began to hover.

Somebody was calling it, and that someone was none other than Steve Rogers.

The pace picked up a bit, but it was seemingly hopeless when Thanos called upon his army. Out of nowhere, a voice called out like a savior.

"Hey Cap. On your left."

Portals began opening and everyone you could imagine was there. Wakanda, Mystic Arts Students, Ravagers, and the Snapped. Peter saw himself, his blurred face and red suit standing out against the bleak background.

The battle began again, and in the midst of chaos Peter reached Tony. Tony grasped Movie-Peter tightly, as Peter rambled on.

Real Peter felt something catch in his throat, and tears began to well up in his eyes. No, no this wasn't supposed to happen. He'd built these walls for a reason, he couldn't let them fall.

He sniffled slightly, getting his emotions under control. When he looked back at the screen, they were playing hot potato with the gauntlet.

Wanda, Sweet Wanda, stepped up.

"You took everything from me."

"I don't even know who you are!"

"You will."

Wanda began to destroy Thanos so badly that he ordered his ships to rain fire in an effort to save his own hide.

Right when it seemed worst, when the heroes' story must be over,

"Somethings entered the upper atmosphere!"

"Danvers, we could use an assist."

Auntie Carol. She reached Peter's side, for he was the one carrying the gauntlet, and he introduced himself. The last name was muffled but still sounded slightly like 'Parker,' but regardless, she took the gauntlet and along with all the other females, started bringing the gauntlet to Scott's van.

Out of the blue, Carol was smacked out of the air. She and Thanos had a brief fight before she was tossed away. Thanos had the gauntlet.

Peter saw the one finger. Peter saw Tony's hopeless look. Peter even saw the split second that Tony held Thanos' gauntlet.

"I am inevitable."

"And I... Am Iron Man."

Peter didn't register the film after that. He had his memory, tearing apart his soul. He barely registered the tears cascading down his face. His hand were shaking. Ned was hugging him-Peter saw his mentor, his father, die in front of him for the second time.

As the funeral scene was played, kids were startled to see Peter standing with his Aunt May. Peter didn't notice, he was looking for ways out of the room.

There- he found one.

Peter could barely see through the tears as he ran down the aisle and when apprehended by his principal, he let out a heartbroken," please."

After a moment's hesitation, Peter was allowed to go early. He didn't go to school that week, and suspicions grew about Peter's identity.

Peter didn't know if he could recover from this. His walls, his defenses had fallen leaving him vulnerable.

Where do i go, now that he's gone?

Peter didn't know, and he didn't know if he ever would.
