Driving~

Tony was screaming, Peter was panicking, horns were honking, the speedometer was at 20 (okay, maybe a little faster).
*Freeze frame, record scratch*
This is chaotic. How did our two favorite idiots end up in this situation? You ask.
Well, I've got two words for you, my lovely reader, my tired insomniac, my dear child who I will adopt (don't test me.). Drivers Ed.
Now, I don't know where y'all live and it would be creepy to claim I do, but in Peter's town of Queens, in order to get his learner's permit, he had to complete a classroom portion and do good on a test.
Why would he want a permit? Because in order to get his driver's license, he needed to have his permit and complete 50 hours of driving.
He had his permit, and Peter just needed the 50 hours. He actually wanted the license, but May was busy with work and couldn't take him driving. However, Tony was not busy at all.
Predictable, but true.
So, Peter brought it up in the lab one day and Tony agreed to take Peter driving. Never before had he regretted a decision more (and he'd bought a lot of useless stuff).
It wasn't that Peter was a bad driver, it was that he was a new driver and everything he did stressed Tony out way more than it should have. I mean everything. It didn't get better as they did more hours, either.
They were about 40 hours in, and they were in the home stretch. Only ten more hours and Tony would be free.
Free! Ah, free.
Peter slowly pulled out of the Compound's parking lot and Tony inhaled quickly. "Stop sign. There's a stop sign. Slow dOWN, pETER."
Glancing at the distraught man, Peter laughed softly. "It's, like, forty feet away. Calm down."
"Calm down?? I am going to die and you want me to take a chill pill?"
"Stop being dramatic." Peter hit the brakes and slowed to a stop. "See? You're fine."
Tony sighed in relief, only to let out a little screech as Peter looked both ways and pulled out onto the street. "Why are you going so fast?"
"I'm going thirty. Relax, Mr. Stark."
"Thirty? No, this is at least sixty."
Peter closed his eyes briefly as he tried to gain the patience to deal with this man. "Okay."
This continued for a while, but Tony was gradually calming down as the drive continued. They stopped at Walmart to buy some quick groceries, and they stopped at some fancy store that Peter didn't know the name of, because Tony needed a new suit.
Then, Peter decided to toss something new into the mix.
Tony looked around. "What are you doing? You missed the turn."
"No I didn't." Peter grinned.
Immediately, Tony began to catch on. "No. no, no, no, no. Tell me you're not."
"But you always tell me to stop lying to you," Peter said innocently.
"We're going on the highway? Oh, dear lord." Tony whined.
Peter snorted. "Don't think that Thor can do much for you right now."
In reality, Peter was going a reasonable speed and was doing a good job driving. Nothing to stress about. In Tony's mind, however, it was complete and utter chaos. To Tony, it was his death day.
Tires were screeching, horns were blaring, Peter was falling asleep at the wheel and Tony was saying his prayers. People were lowering their windows to yell at the teen, and Tony was desperately trying to prevent a car crash.
"You good?"
In two words, Tony was roughly brought back to real life, where Peter calmly driving, adjusting the radio station.
What was this? Country? Well, there were worse things.
"Oh. Uh, yeah. Good job." Tony coughed, leaning his head back to get his sanity back.
Who was he kidding, his sanity packed its bags and got a divorce the minute Tony recruited the little Spider-Boy.
Peter clicked on the blinkers and got off at an exit, glancing over at the billionaire every now and then.
When Tony stepped out of the car after three hours of driving with Peter, his first instinct was to be relieved. The second was to feel sad, because this way, he and Peter spent a lot of time together.
"When I get my license, I'll pick you up and we can get McDonald's whenever we want! Happy and Pepper won't be able to stop us!" Peter said happily, turning off the car and tossing the keys to Tony.
Stark smiled. "When? More like if, at this rate."
Peter pouted, "I'm not doing that bad. Besides, you took a nap for like, an hour of that. It can't have been that traumatizing if you could sleep."
Nodding, Tony ushered the kid into the elevator. "C'mon Kiddo, Barnes was making cookies when we left. I bet he's done by now."
That got Pete's attention, and soon the pair was chattering contentedly, with a movie playing and a plate of cookies on their laps.
(Peter got his license, and kept his word. They went to all the fast food places, but most often they went to Delmar's.
Tony wouldn't admit it, but Peter was a really good driver. Better than Wilson, anyway.
Either one.)

i know... i haven't been good about updates. i just... my excitement for writing for the mcu is at a low right now because of the lack of new contact. I still really like the mcu, more than normal, but... writing. this book has to end at some point... right?
I'm not saying now, because I still have some requests to do, but if you see my updates slowing, you know why. I think I'll mark this book as complete once I hit 100 chapters, and I probably won't hit that until we get more mcu content. This has been a great ride, but it's coming to an end. :)
