Chapter 3: Grow Up, Wendy!

That night, George and Mary were getting ready for the business party, and the children,
now in their pajamas were playing another one of their games, in this one, which was quite different from their usual games, Wendy and John were pretending to be their parents, while Nana was still trying to get Michael into his pajamas.

"But Nana, I don't want to go to bed! I won't! I won't!" he exclaimed in a pout as John and Wendy were playing. "A little less noise there...", Wendy giggled "Oh John, you sound just like father"!

They giggled with one another as they started to play "I am happy to inform you, Mrs. Darling, that you are now a mother." he said as he passed Wendy/Mary, a black baby doll as she cradled it "Oh happy day, I shall call her Wendy".

"I am even more happier to inform you, Mrs Darling, that you are now the mother of a baby boy, as well.", John passed Wendy/Mary another baby doll, this time, it was a black nutcracker, "Oh joy! I shall name him, John".

Meanwhile, after, Michael was finished getting into his pajamas, he decided to join in with Wendy and John, "May I also be born?", he asked with his innocent puppy eyes.

"No!", John said in serious voice, "We don't want any more!", Wendy's eyes widen "John, don't say that!", Michael's eyes started wailing with tears "Nobody, wants me!" he cried. Luckily, the real Mrs. Darling came in just in time to cue the boy "I do, I so want a third child.", she said as she picked up and cradled the weeping 5 year old. Michael sniffled "Boy or Girl?",  Mrs. Darling thought for a quick moment and then she proudly exclaimed "A boy!", Michael's face beamed up with joy "Oh Mother!" he cheered as he cuddled with her.

Wendy was proud to see Michael so happy again, soon she turned her eyes over to her mother's dress, a beautiful dress for that matter, made of a glamorous purple satin designed with a lovely black lace covering the shoulders, and to top it all off, a lavishing golden locket given to her 38th birthday, which contains a photo of the own true loves of her live, her children.

"Mother...you...look absolutely ravishingly lovely."Wendy complimented in awe, Mary smiled as she put down Michael, "Oh thank you, dear.", soon George walked into the room and joined in the conversation "Indeed, she does.", he said as he exchanged a loving glance at his beautiful wife, before turning his attention back to Wendy with a proud smile "And soon, Wendy, dear, you'll be going to parties".

"He's right, love, oh I just can't wait to start my lessons with you, soon you'll be a proper lady."
M'Dear as she joined in with excitement dancing around her face. Wendy's eyebrow went up "Father?! what does she mean by lessons?", she questioned with worry in her eyes. George walked over to Wendy and put a hand on her shoulder "Wendy, this is your last night in nursery, starting tomorrow you'll be sleeping in the guest room.", Everyone's eyes widen, Wendy was in complete total "What?", she whispered In disbelief, trying to comprehend what her father just said.

M'Dear cut in "Wendy, your father and I decided that this is best for you to have your own room, and to start your womanhood, and soon you'll be moving in with me at Wales.", Wendy's eyes widen even wider, "What! But Father, I don't want to leave the nursery or London!" she exclaimed as she backed away one step, "George, M'Dear! We haven't even properly discussed this-!", she fussed, but George cut her off "I'm sorry, Mary, but it's done! Wendy, I mean it, this is your last night in the nursery, you need to spend less time with your brothers, and stop filling their head with such poppycock"!

Everyone's eyes were now even wider than ever, "But, father, my stories are absolutely not poppycock-!!!" Wendy proclaimed in protest, "That's enough, what I said is final, now, pack your stuff, you're moving out of the nursery in the morning-!", George demanded, but was interrupted, when he accidentally tripped over Nana, who was bringing in Michael's medicine, and accidentally dripped over his shoes.

Once, this happened everyone in the room knew i that was the very last straw, George's face turned a piping hot angry red "OH FOR GOODNESS SAKES, THAT'S IT, NANA, I HAVE JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF YOU, TOO! IF WENDY'S MOVING OUT, THEN IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO MOVE OUT!!", George grabbed Nana by her collar and escorted her out in an angry pace "Father, please no!!", the children pleaded as they followed George, along with Mary and M'Dear.

"George, please relax there just shoes!", Mary pleaded with her husband, "No, Mary, I will not put up with this daft of a nursemaid anymore, she's a dog, it's time for her to act like a dog, and sleep where a dog sleeps!".

He soon made it outside in the backyard, where he put Nana on her leash and stated "I must become a man that children fear and adults respect or we shall all end up in the street"!

"George! Son, not so loud, the neighbors will hear.", she assured in a calm, yet serious tone. George yelled "Let them hear. Let the whole world know! This is not a nurse! This here is a dog, and nothing more!", he shouted as he ripped off Nana's nursemaid bonnet, and the whole family gasped, Wendy couldn't bare to see her father like this or see Nana be treated in such a way, she had enough.

"Father, please don't do this to Nana, she did nothing wrong, she is such a very good nursemaid, she's brave, loyal, and last night, she barked at the boy, who came through the window, and she protected me, just like any dog would do!", she claimed, George nodded his head aggravated with his back turned "Wendy, enough!!",  but she didn't stop, she stood her ground "But it's true-!", George turned his face towards her away from Nana "ENOUGH!!!", he
hollered at the very top of his lungs, having just about it "Tomorrow,  you'll move out the nursery, and by the end of the winter break, you'll move in with M'Dear to start your instruction, and that's final! It's time for you to grow up, Wendy!!", he stomped.

Wendy's eyes started to wail up with tears, she couldn't bear the fact, that she had to grow up and to be like any other prissy girl, and to leave the home, she loves, just to grow up, she ran up to her room, heartbroken, soon she was joined by Michael and John, who couldn't bear to look at their father, after what just transpired.

Back in the nursery, Wendy and the boys hugged on each other, giving one another comfort, this was interrupted by a knock at the door. It was Mrs. Darling, who's face was filled with remorse, seeing her all heartfelt, the children ran straight towards her and gave her the biggest hug because as any child would need in a time of sorrow is the comfort of a loving mother.

The room remained completely quiet as the children were hugging there, mother, until Wendy broke the silence "Mother, I don't want to grow up.", Mrs. Darling looked down her oldest as she moved her hand to put a piece of hair back in place "I know, dear, but let's not worry about that tonight, I'm sure everything will be alright in the morning.", she reassured as she started escorting each of her children to bed.

"Mother, must you go to the party?" Asked Michael with his adorable puppy eyes, "Michael's right, Mother, you don't have to go, please stay?", John joined in, and so did Wendy "Yes, please stay Father can go by himself.", Mrs Darling chuckled "By himself? True, your father can be very ill-tempered, but he's going to need the special kiss to face his colleagues tonight, he is a very brave man".

Wendy raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms "Father, brave?", Mrs Darling turned to Wendy, and made her way over to her "Now Wendy, you may think him cruel, but he loves you all very much, and only wants the best for you.", Wendy smirked "He sure has a funny way of showing it.", she sassed,  Mrs. Darling shock her head "Children, people have many different kinds of ways of showing love, and though some ways seem very stern and tough, that only means he really really cares about you".

Wendy sighed "I guess.", Mrs. Darling smiled down at her, proudly, and caressed her hair "That's my girl.", she gently kissed her head as she giggled. Soon, Mrs. Darling heard sniffle, she turned around and saw Michael crying, snuggling his teddy bear, tight "Poor Nana, she's out there, all alone.", Mrs. Darling "Don't worry, Michael, I'm sure she'll be alright, we just gotta pray the best for, and I promise, I'll talk to your father about this matter, when we get home, but till then, rest my dear children".

"Turn off the light, rest your head,
Sleep tight on your warm cozy little bed,
As I bid the good night, and have no dreadful fright because as long as I'm in your heart, we will never part, no matter how far, we are, if you ever get lost, know that the stars above will always guide you home, my loves, where I will always be with you, safe and sound next to me".

This here, sweet poem, is the lullaby, Mrs. Darling made for her children, she reads it to them every once in a while in a time of comfort. After all, it's the bound of all mother to love, protect, and provide for her lovelies.

As the children heard the sweet lullaby, they fell into a deep calm sleep, knowing their mother was truly the greatest mother of all. The mother smiled as she closed the door, reassured that her children will be alright.

Unbeknownst to the children, an unforgettable adventures, that'll change their lives forever was just about to unfold....
