Chapter Seven: Bloody Pirates
When I wake up, I see Peter. He stands over the table of the crocodile. He takes a flower cup that was left on the table. He stares at it,
“Peter?” I mumble, He looks behind. Then snaps his eyes closed, opens his mouth, and tilts the flower. Tink flies in and pushes the cup away from his mouth.
“Tink,” He says, pulling her off his mouth. He tosses her onto the table. He smiles and tries to drink the medicine again. She flew as fast as she could towards his mouth, and drank it all. Peter spit with frustration,
“You drank my medicine!” He said firmly, throwing the flower to the ground. Tink stumbled onto the table, blowing out a candle while she went. Then collapsed onto a pile of coins. Peter rushed towards her, knocking everything off the table,
“Tink?” he whispered, he took a candle and placed it near her, “Stay warm Tink, stay warm.” He whispers. He tried to smile, Tink took one finally look at Peter, then her beautiful light faded. Peter shook his head; he gently picked her up in his hands. A tear escapes my eye lid and falls down my cheek. Peter carries her outside, I follow. He steps out into the cloudy weather and lays her on the ground. His finger dig into the ground, his back leaned over her.
“Please Tink come back, I’m so sorry Tink please come back...” he whispers. I hesitate out from the entrance, letting him have space, “Tink!” He shouts sadly. He falls and starts to cry. I walk towards him and kneel next to him. He raises his head and cries on my shoulder. I sniffle a cry as well. Then, something just pops out from my mouth.
“I do believe in fairies.” I mumble. He stops and looks at me,
“What?” he sniffs.
“I do believe in fairies; I do.” I say again. Peter sits up and looks at Tink.
“I do believe in fairies.” He mumbles. I wipe my tears away and stand up.
“I DO BELIEVE IN FAIRIES!” I scream, Peter stands up with me, he shouts as well. I shout with all my heart, my fingers slip into Peter’s and I hold it tight. Screaming with all my heart. Peter picks Tink back up,
“I do believe in fairies.” He says; the sunshine brightens the sky once more.
“I do believe in fairies!” I shout,
“I-“Peter starts, but I see Tink’s soft glow to come back, “oh Tink you’re alive!” Peter says, throwing her in the air as the flies with happiness. She comes down and starts to tickle Peter, he laughs and falls to the ground. I smile, and cheer on for Tink. But the happiness stopped, my head throbbed and yellow fireworks clouded my vision. I stumble and lean against the wood. Peter gets up and sees me against the wood. He rushes over and helps me up.
“You ok?” he says. The fireworks stop but the throbbing continues. I nod slowly; Peter rushes inside while I stumble to follow. Peter looks into the reflection; Tink also looks in the reflection as well, but only straights her dress and fixes her hair. He takes another and hands it to me. I shake my head.
“Remember last time?” I say firmly and point to my already half gone pupil; I blink my eye rapidly and pluck another slimy piece of my pupil, it was a far larger piece. Peter widen his eyes,
“We have to get that fixed first.” He said, pointing to my devilish eye. I nod, with shaky hands I take the handle of the sword and slide it into the sheath. Peter smiles,
“It’s hook and me this time.”
* * *
I’ve never really put one foot upon the Jolly Rodger, I didn’t dare too. The ship was amazing, forty gunner with six sails. A pirate flag blew in the breeze on top, me and Peter stood hidden between barrels on the deck. Fear bubbles inside me, I long to run back to the tree and bury myself in my hammock. I can’t, Peter sees me trembling. He takes my hand and squeezes it slowly. My lungs take a deep breath, I let it out quietly. In the corner I see the Lost boys tied up, Wendy was near the plank. Her hands were tied. All the pirates were gathered around her, shouting and firing guns into the air.
“Stay here.” Peter whispers to me and flies off.
“Be careful!” I quietly shout after him. I spy on the pirates, they laugh and shout. The wood hurt when I crawled over to see more clearly. Wendy was at the edge, the board wiggled. I widen my eyes, she stumbled to keep standing. Something wiggled the board again, she fell. My body urged it’s self to run but I planted my hands and knees on the floor boards. I strained for the sound of a splash, it didn’t come. Someone tapped my shoulder; I whip around to see Peter. He had his finger against his lips, meaning to stay quiet. I nod; He points in a direction of the back. I follow his gaze and see the captain’s quarters.
“Get inside with Wendy, grab the swords. When I say, come out. I’ll untie the Lost Boys to follow you.” He ordered. I nod, my hands start to shake. I’ve never been so nervous. He took my head and to steady myself, I ordered my lungs to take a deep breath, “You got this.” He said. I nod and look at Wendy,
“Follow my ever order.” I say strongly. She nods, I look over to the pirates; staring over the railing. I bolt across the floor boards and hide behind a corner. Wendy stares at me, waiting for my order. I wave my hand for her to follow, she loudly runs towards me; but not loud enough for the pirates to peel their eyes away from the railing.
“Now what?” Wendy whispers. I take my hand and zip my mouth, telling her to be quiet.
“Sorry,” she mouths. I turn towards the door, locked. I already knew what to do. I pluck a hair pin from the back of my neck and stuff it in the lock. The silent tick noise fills my ears as the lock collapse’s to the floor, thankfully not to loud. We slip in, swords decorate the walls. I grab as many as I can, Wendy follows me. Then we wait. After minutes have gone by, I hear the soft thudding of feet. Tiger slips in and runs towards me, giving me a hug. I give him a sword and wait for the next. Soon the others come, they are all armed. I wait,
“Now!” I hear Peter shout. I charge through, the Lost Boys shout their calls. The first pirate I see I knock down by kicking him in the leg. He groans and tried to stand up but I stomp on his back. His face smacks against the floor boards, knocking him uncounious. I move to the next pirate. He tried to stab my chest but I dodge and cut his leg. He shouts and swipes his sword back in forth like a child. I roll my eyes and look wildly around. Everywhere I see fighting. Peter stands a few yards away, fighting the mighty Captain Hook. I step forward to help, pain smears my hip. I wince and turn around to see another bloody pirate, he was about the stab but I was quick. I rolled under his leg and swiped his thigh. Peter shouts behind me, I turn. Preparing for the worst, he was grinning and said something, then flew upwards. The most shocking thing happened, Hook flew after him. I wipe my eyes and look again.
It looked like Peter was losing; he took a nasty kick to the face. Tumbling backwards into a mast. I look around to see a rigging. I run towards it, climbing upwards to help. When I reach to the mast, Peter sits there. His face scrunched up in pain. I look to see his leg tied in the roping. I run over and swipe the black tether; he frees himself and pushes my away.
“Go back, it’s not safe here!” he shouts. I shake my head.
“Anywhere is safe, as long as I’m with you!” I shout back. He doesn’t smile. Peter gets up and flies away again. I hide behind the mast. A gun shot echoes in the air, behind my shoulder a see a bullet mark in the wood. In front of me was Hook, he grins and shoots another bullet. I raise my sword as the bullet hits the metal, shooting it somewhere else.
“I can’t wait to get a bullet through your skull.” He snaps at me, aiming the gun at my face. I raise my sword to trip him but he knocks it out of my hands, making it fall towards the ground. I hear a shout; Peter knocks Hook with his legs. Landing with a grunt on the beam, he hanged their helplessly. I crawl over, grabbing his shoulders and hulling him up,
“You…ok?” he huffed when he was on the beam. I nod shakily, I see Hook fly up to us again and landing on the beam. Peter crawls in front of me, in a protecting stage.
“Give me that girl, we have unfinished business to attend.” Hook growled, walking slowly towards us. Peter takes my hand and clutches it tight.
“You’ll have to get through me, Hook.” He snapped. Hook glared and raised his sword. Peter took his dagger and scraped it against his sword.
“Pam run!” He shouted, rising to his knees. I scrambled up, pressing my body to the mast.
“I don’t think that possible Peter!” I shout. He looked at me and then widened his eyes. He pulled away from Hook, grabbed my waist, snatched a rope and swung into the air. I clutched his shoulder and chest as we swung towards the other mast. We were heading right towards the tower. He looks at me, and then the weirdest thing happened. He pulled me close, pressing his mouth to my cheek, and then he let me go. I screamed and fell, wood smashed my back. I grunted and sat up. Peter was hovering in front of Hook, waving his sword. Hook grinned and sliced at him; he shouted and clutched his forehead.
“Peter!” I shout out helplessly. My head throbbed again and yellow fireworks exploded in my mind. I fell to the wood on the mast and clutched my face. Blood dripped from my eye like tears. I lean against the main pole and clutch my face. Peter caught my eye and tried to get to me. But Hook kicked at his head. I looked around to find a rigging to the next story up. It took a while since my head hurt like the diggings. When I reached the level Peter was thrown towards me, we hurtled through the air onto the main deck. I got one look at him and almost cried, his face was bruised and a long cut was on his forehead. His nose bleeds heavily.
“Pam, your eye is almost gone.” Peter said, crawling over to me. I blink once and my right vision became blurry, Hook landed behind us. Everyone stopped their fighting and saw us on the deck. Hook landed in front of us, a gun in his hands. Peter narrows his eyes and stands up, but stumbles a little when on the way up. I lay there on the deck, limp as a leaf. Hook kicks him in the stomach, clutching his throat. I widen my eyes, and look wildly around. I find Peter’s dagger, my head throbbed in pain. All I wanted to do was sleep. But I stumbled to Hook, his back to me; I raised the dagger point…
And stabbed his back.
Hook took a gasp. Clutching his chest, Peter widened his eyes. I pull closer to hook so his ear was near my lips.
“Never…hurt…my brother.” I mumbled out. Then, I collapsed on the deck. So did Hook, Peter rushed towards me.
“Pam…why did you do that?” he asked. Picking me up so my head was near his chest.
“If you died…I couldn’t forgive myself…so I took the blow,” I whisper. My voice ached and I swallowed, needing to say more. “Peter, do me a favor.” I say.
“Anything.” He says, tears water his eyes.
“Be happy…with the one you love.” I say, taking a glance at Wendy. Peter turned his head to look at her, then looked back at me.
“I can’t,” Peter says. Tears streaming down his cheeks, “Because…because I-I love you. I didn’t know what love was until I saw you. You are everything to me, like a sister. You care for me…and I like that about you. Don’t die Pam please…” Peter said. I look at him with dull eyes,
“You…love me?” I say, looking up into his hazel eyes. He nods, I smile. He hugs me tight and brushed a piece of red hair from my sweaty face. Everybody just watched us in shock of Peter’s secret. My head throbbed, my eyes slowly became heavy. Peter began to hug my ribs tighter; he held my shoulders in his arms. I finally gave up and closed my eyes, letting out a deep breath. Darkness swallowed me up; I no longer could feel Peter’s arms around me or the wood under my bare feet. I floated in darkness…
