Chapter Five: The Black Castle

My eye still bleeds in the morning, I tried hiding it but the lost boys were worried and tried to tell Peter. But he was busy talking to Wendy. I rolled my eyes-avoiding the pain- and braided my hair. Then Peter took Wendy’s hand and pulled her to the entrance. Slightly went after him while the rest stayed. Cuddles was sad cause he thought I’d die, I hugged him without complain.

“You’re not going to die, aren’t you Pam?” I heard Tiger. I smile and shake my head.

“No, I’m not going to die. I might be blind though…” I trail off. Tootles gasps,

“But then you couldn’t fight.” Tootles exclaimed. I blink my eyes at him and take a sword.

“I can too fight, blind or not.” I reassure him and take a blow. But I only hit air; I blink in confusion and look backwards to see Tootles still stand where he was. My head pounded and my knees shacked and grew weak. I fell to my knees; I heard the clatter of the sword as it dropped to the ground.

“Pam!” Tootles and Curly put my arms around their shoulders and carried me against the trunk. I shake my head and my eyes come into focus.

“Pam? Are you ok?” I hear Nibs ask and drape a wet cloth onto my forehead. I nod and gently nudge him away.

“I’m fine.” I whisper and stumble to my feet. I walk over to the mirror and look into the mirror, I blink my eyes and feel something, I raise my finger and pluck away something slimy and wet. I look and see that it was part of my pupil. I look at the mirror at see that three pieces of the pupil have already been teared away. I hear Tiger gasp and stare into my eye. I take both of his wrists and pick them up gently. I stare at him and brush a tear from his cheek. I try to smile but it doesn’t help.

“Are you gonna die, Pam?” I hear Tootles cry. I shake my head.

“Of course not.” I whisper. Tink flies in rapidly and stumbles onto my shoulder. She stopped to catch her breath. Then she whispered into my ear:

Pam help! Peter and Wendy are at the Black Castle. Peter needs help. Follow me.” I stumble upwards and grab my bow and arrows.

“You stay here,” I say, pointing at the lost boys. “Tink, make sure they don’t come for me.” I explain and rush out into the forest. My head’s throbbing dimmed and my sense of sight cleared from its party of yellow fireworks. I stumble through the forest and find my running stride. My feet pound against the dirty earth. Sand rises from the earth like a wave when I skid to a halt on Skull rock shores. In the distance was a large-torn to pieces-castle. It used to be a grand castle, as I was told. I run my fingers through my hairs in distress. Then I spot a dingy floating on the shore. I scramble in and throw my bow and pack of arrow onto the boards. I grasp the rods and push to get to the castle.

The Black Castle was dull and grey. Thunderstorms lightening over head. The water was rough and was full of white taps. I tied the boat to the docks and raised my bow. An arrow was in the wire; I pulled it back and walked carefully up the stone steps that were covered in moss. Lightning flashed and made just a glimpse of what was ahead. I lowered the bow and quickly ran inside the castle. In the main room was like a water channel, rocks were raised from the water. A big, crocodile like statue was made in the far center. Its hand was out stretched and empty, but not actually. Inside was something moving, or someone. I immediately recognized it as Peter lay down on his stomach. I saw that three people were chained to a rock. The first I recognized as Princess Tigerlily, her face paint was smearing on her face, her black hair was wet. Next to her were the two boys who Wendy called her brothers, I believe Michael and John. Two pirates stood over watch, one was the old man, Mr. Smee. And the other I have no idea.

I aimed my bow at the crocodile’s hand. I pulled the wire backwards and aimed above it. The wire slipped through my fingers, the bow shoot through the air silently and priced the concrete from above Peter’s head. He looked back and saw the arrow. He plucks it from the stone and stares at it. Then he waves so the Pirates won’t see him. I give him the signal of me snapping my fingers and putting my elbow on my arm, pointing at the pirates. That was hand talk. “Can I shoot them?” He shakes his hands and wheedles his fingers and hands in a constant motion. “Knock them dead, leave Hook to me.” I grin and twitch my wrists. I place my fingertips to my mouth, then to my elbow. I tap them to my hand then back to my mouth.

“As promised.” I take a pebble and flick it across the water’s surface. A pirate near me looks to see; I tiptoe across and take an arrow. As silent as the night, I stab it into the pirate’s back. He gasps and groans, he falls down with a thump. My dagger swayed with my hips, I take it out and poke another Pirate’s back. He groans and falls. My eyes scan the area.

“Mr. Smee!” I hear a low voice. I raise my bow in confusion. The older pirate looks around.

“Release the children!” I hear the booming voice again; I look at Peter and see his hands cupped around his mouth. I roll my eyes. Mr. Smee grumbles and unchains the kids. Tigerlily, Michael and john swim away, towards me. Tigerlily coughs up water and climbs the stone. I lower to my knees and stare at her, not daring to release my hiding. They climb up the stone and try to turn the gate wheel. Then I hear gunshot. I jerk and turn to the sound. I see my enemy, the one who stole my color of rich blue. James Hook, Captain of the Jolly Rodger. His hair was down and black. A gun was in his hands. The two pirates both hugged their chests. But the other fell into the water with a splash. I see Peter still in the hand of the crocodile statue. Peter leaned over the crocodile’s clutches, “I am-“ he started to say but I saw Hook standing behind him with a gun.

“Peter!” I scream and shot a bow, the arrow was aimed for Hook, but he caught it. He stares at it for a while then looks at me. I look down and see I’m standing in the moonlight, totally vurnable. He grins; Peter was flying over the water. The gates slammed shut, I couldn’t hear what Hook was saying. Peter took out a gleaming sword and charged for Hook. I could hear the clinking metal from here. I hear another set of clinking and see Wendy fighting a pirate. She was moving backwards towards the wall. I take an arrow and fire. It pierced the pirate right through the side. Wendy gasps and looks towards me, I glare. Just this once. Two pirates charge towards me, I smile. My arrow pierces through a Pirate’s chest. I fire an arrow behind my back into the other pirate’s side. I pause and find Peter, he was in the clutches of Hook. He had his hand on his over his mouth. A cannon fires and Peter comes out spinning and shouting.

“Peter!” I shout. The net curls around Peter and splashes into the lake. I drop my bow and arrows and dive under the water. My lungs scream for air but I ignore it. I find Peter struggling in the net. I see his eyes find mine; I take my dagger and cut the rope. He was able to swim out, grabs my hand. We surface; Peter coughs and climbs the rock. I swim over another area and scramble out. When I’m out I see Peter thrown onto a rock with Hook raising his metal hand. It aimed for his eye, and then it scraped his chest.

“Peter!” I shout, Hook stops and looks at me. His eyes gleam with anger. He throws Peter aside with a groan. He walks over towards me.

“The girl with the white eye.” He growls. I pull on the wire in my bow and get ready to aim. He then grins,

“I see the Poison is already taking affect.” He smiles. I see Peter behind him with his dagger ready, but then stops. I raise my bow at his face.

“I will gladly but this arrow through your skull.” I snap and circle him. He just chuckles, and then he gasps. A sound echoed off the walls.

Tick,

Tick,

Tick,

“Oh no,” Hook groans. I see Peter smile; I look behind me and see the most terrifying thing. A crocodile as big as Hangman’s Tree. It roared and showed rows of sharp teeth. Its scaly skin sparkled in the moonlight. Peter grabbed my wet skin and dragged me to the nearest boat. Everybody was in it. The crocodile dipped into the water, I could see its green skin from beneath the surface. It snapped at Hook’s feet. We drifted away from the castle and through the gates. Peter sat next to me dripping wet, I didn’t mind, I was wet too. He looked at me,

“What was he talking about, potion?” he says. I shake my head.

“Nothing we need to worry about.” I mumble. Peter muffled a small chuckle.

“You’re eye is literally tearing away. We have to do something.” He said. I shake my head again,

“I’ll handle it, it’s my own responsibility. Why all of a sudden you are so thoughtful of me?” I snap, he looks shocked, then just ignores it. I feel guilty afterwards,

That night, Peter goes to his “chambers” and gives me a sad, almost disappointing look.
