Chapter Eight: Peter's Secret

(don't play song until the stars appear.)

Peter stared at Pam’s limp body. Her skin was smooth and warm on his skin. He finally told her, about his true feelings. He never thought that he’d fall in love with someone; he couldn’t grow old like everyone else. Pam was perfect. She was adventurous, kind and a great companion to him. But she was gone, she’s dead. She sacrificed her life so Peter could live. He admitted to her that he loved her with all his heart. Peter felt tears in his eyes; it felt like he lost Tink again. But this time, she couldn’t come back. Slightly walked over to Peter and kneeled beside him, placing a hand on his shoulder. Peter turned his head to look at him, Slightly saw that Peter’s face was red and wet with tears.

“Pam was a loyal Lost girl.” Slightly whispered. Peter nodded, placing his forehead onto Pam’s.

“She was…beautiful, she always cared for me.” Peter sniffed, “I would sleep in her hammock with her every night. Sometimes I would hold her hand and she would hold it back.” Peter hugged Pam close to his bare chest. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, then slowly pressed his lips to her warm skin on her forehead. He gently placed her back down on his lap and looked at the body of Hook; something shiny sparkled in the sunlight near his neck. Peter looked closer and saw a vial on a chain. He gently placed Pam on Slighly’s lap, then walked over to the body. In the vial was liquid, then he gasped.

“The Antidote!” Peter shouted, ripping the vial off Hook’s neck and running over to Pam. The Lost Boys were gathered around her, Slightly handed Pam’s body over to Peter, he uncapped the vial and gently poured it down her throat. He threw the glass away and waited for the liquid to work.

“Please…please Pam. Don’t leave me…” Peter whispered. He bent down and hugged her slowly. Rocking her like he used to when she first came to his home. He looked down at her face, it was already getting pale. Her lips were red, he took a deep breath and brought her head closer to his. He hesitated at first but then did what we always wanted to do.

He pressed his warm lips to her cold ones. Unedifying warmth flooded through him, the sweetness of her mouth filling his taste buds. He felt the taste of mangos on his lips, his eyes were closed. Then he pulled away, slowly opening his eyes, hoping to see Pam’s eyes when he opens his. But when he did, he saw her pale skin. He sighed, but then he heard something. He placed his ear on her chest to pick up her heartbeat. A silent thumping noise sounded, he widen his eyes and looked at Pam’s face, her color returned. As if commanded, her eyes flickered open slowly. Peter felt tears in his eyes again,

“Pam! Your Alive!” he shouted and hugged her tight. Pam blinked her eyes a couple of times and stared into Peter’s. He looked at her eyes, one green the other…blue!

“Pam! Your eyes…there back to normal.” He whispered. She took her hand and felt her face; her scar was still there was she could see every detail of Peter’s face. Peter smiled and pressed his lips back to hers. Pam jerked in surprise, but relaxed and cupped the side of Peter’s neck. He pulled away and stared into her eyes.

“Pam…Can I say something?” Peter asked. Pam nods, “I’ve loved you since you first came here.” Pam smiles, she tries to stand, Peter had two hands on her arm to help her. The Lost Boys cheer and start to hug her. Peter smiled and looks at Wendy. She was hanging back with her brothers. Peter walks over to her.

“Um…I’m sorry.” He said, Wendy shakes her head.

“We have to go home, It was lovely to see Neverland with you.” She says. Peter nods and turns back to the Lost boys and Pam. Peter takes Pam’s hand, she turns and smiles when she sees him. He pulls her close, and hugs her tight around the shoulders. Pam smiles and hugged him too. Peter then had an idea; he walked over to the Lost Boys. Taking a glance at Pam talking with Wendy.

“Lost Boys, I have an idea…”

The softness of my hammock covers my skin, I smile and lay back. Slightly comes up to me, with a worn out box,

“Pam, please put this on and meet us outside as soon as possible.” He said, handing me the box and hurrying up the secret stairs. I cock my head and take of the lid, inside was clothes. I take it out and see it was a dress, it was a rich blue with sleeves, a short skirt was at the bottom. I slipped it on over my head, the sleeves covered my arms not my shoulder. I tied the skirt in a knot at my hip so I could walk in my leather pants; also in the box was a little sash of vines and a head band. I slipped on the sash of vine and the head band. It was too made of leaves and small pendant silver. I braided my hair and slipped it over my shoulder. Then I went up the stairs and out into the night, on the leafy ground stood small candles that burned, small fireflies were born from the small flames. The candles made a trail that lead to into the forest. I cock my head and look around, the lost boys weren’t to be found.

“Slightly? Tiger…Cuddles?” I call, no answer. Tink flies in front of me, motioning me to follow her.

“Tink where is- Tink!” I called for her, she already flew away, down the trail of candles, I walk slowly and followed Tink, calling for her, “Tink! Where are you?” I say, turning a corner. In front of me, stood a trail to the beach. Candles glow dimly in the night air. Tink flew in front of me, then she gestured to continue down the trail. At the end stood Peter, he held a bouquet of blue flowers. I smile and walk down the trail. Peter stands up straighter; I giggle a bit and stop at the end.

“Here,” He says, handing me the flowers. I take them gratefully and smell their aroma. Peter takes my hand and stares into my eyes. I blush hard and look away, “Pam, I may not be a hero, but I promise that I will love you till I die.” He whispers. He brings his hands up to the moonlight and opens his fist. Inside his palm was a locket, he undid the clasp and walked behind me. Draping the chain over my neck, I look at the locket and open it. Inside was an engraving of two P’s intertwining. I smile,

“Peter and Pam…” I whisper, Peter smiles and closes my fingers over the cool metal. His face inches from mine,

“Forever,” he finishes for me. I look up at him with a blank expression. He smiles slowly and cups my chin with his index finger and thumb. He takes a deep breath, but hesitates. I roll my eyes,

“Oh my heaven sake.” I groan and press my lips to his warm mouth, he jerks in surprise. But he relaxes and kisses me again, wrapping his arms around my waist like in a hug. I cup his neck with my palms, enjoying every moment. I pull away slowly and stare into his hazel eyes,

“Peter, I’ve been alone my whole life. But when you rescued me years ago, I’ve never regretted that day. I think of it as a blessing.” I whisper to him. He smiles and hugs me tighter.

“You’re not alone anymore. I’ll protect you, like I have for years.” He replies. I smile and nod, kissing his lips again. He takes my hands and holds them tightly in his dirty palms. I open my eyes and slowly pull away, Peter looked up at me. His eyes were calm and loving,

“Pam…” he whispers. I close my eyes and rest my forehead against his.

“Hmm?” I mumbled. Peter hugs me tightly,

“When you…died, I held you in my arms. I didn’t let you go, I wouldn’t let you go. I l-love you too much.” Peter said. I smile,

“I have something to say too. When I was…dead, all I could do was think about you. The way you talked you stories Wendy told you, the way you laugh, and the way you held my hand when we would fall sleep in my hammock.” I say, Peter smiled and took my hand and intertwined my fingers with his.

“Like this?” he asked. I nodded, Peter leaned in and slowly kisses my cheek. Then he ripped from my arms and tore down the beach. He stopped and looked at me,

“Come on!” he waved his arm. I laugh and race after him, the moonlight lit our way. I ran harder, my knot at my hip untied and the skirt draped over my knees. I stopped at a small island of rock, the waves crashed on the sand. Not far off the sandy shore was a big boulder popping from the water. I cock my head and splash into the water, the soft sand sunk between my toes. The edges of my skirt soon became damp and so were my pants. The rock’s surface was slippery and wet. I climb on and looked around, water splashed behind me, I whipped around. The water bubbled and was foamy. I bent down too look, Peter exploded from the water; his hair was damp and pressed to his head. I laugh and push away a strand near his eyes. He placed his hands on the rock and pushed himself upwards, colliding mouths with mine. I place a hand on the side of his face; he pulls away and drags me in the water with him. I do a small scream and dive in. Water fills my nose and mouth; I struggle to swim to the surface. I feel Peter’s hands on my waist pulling me upwards. We surface into the night air, I cough slightly and swim towards land. I collapse on the sand, Peter does the same.

“What did you do that for?” I asked. He shrugged.

“I thought it be nice, going for a midnight dip.” He says. I smile and kiss his cheek. I could see, even in the silvery moonlight, Peter’s face blushes hard. I giggle, stumbling to my feet and ran. Peter gets up and chases after me, I laugh and try to run faster. In front of me was an upside down U of rock. I run underneath it and lean against the rock wall, panting. Peter catches up with me, also panting.

“I didn’t know you ran that fast.” He panted. I shrug and slide down, sitting in the soft sand. Peter slides down next to me. He takes my hand and holds it tight. I lean on his shoulder, tired from our run. He gently kisses the side of my face and leans his head on mine. We watch the moon float in the sky, it was full. I could feel every detail in his palms; the dirt, the lines in the skin. He opens his palm; I spread my fingers to feel his skin.

“Do you like kisses?” Peter asked me. I nod a tiny bit, my eyes tired. I could fall asleep right there, snuggled up to him.

“If there from you.” I answer his question. He smiles, and closes his eyes, his mouth a breath away from mine. But he pauses, our mouths inches away from mine. His breath hot on my face. My face expressionless, I stare at his pale lips. I look up at Peter, his eyes were closed. He just sat there…waiting. I hesitate at first, then slowly press my lips to his. Peter smiles and just sits there, enjoying the moment. He pulled away and stared into my eyes,

“Sorry.” He apologizes and looks away, his face blushes. I smile weakly and look away as well, “We’ve done that a lot lately.” I shrug.

“Maybe your just letting it out since you’ve been keeping it in for a while now…since you told me your secret.” I say warmly. He shrugs as well and looks at me; I smile and lean up against him. Closing my eyes and breathing in deeply. Peter looks down at me, my eyes closed and trying to sleep. He smiles and slides down a little further, closing his eyes as well. His hand still twining with mine as I drift to sleep.
