AT THE RIPE AGE OF EIGHT, the children of District 7 travel with their families to pillage the forest and process tree into fine timber. They believe that each time a tree falls to the earth, its soul rises into the sky above and returns to its mother. "We respect the earth," every guardian would explain, "but we also take. Nature provides for us, because she knows we need it."

For Bex Nassar, she tended to think that was a fancy way of describing the bullshit they did for the Capitol. District 7 was a peaceful area, but no one suspected that they had just as much of an advantage in the yearly Hunger Games as a career tribute. Not only did children have to grow up in a brutal environment, but they were all skilled with weapons like axes and cutting tools from an early age. They were the underdogs; the losers. People realized how wrong their perceptions were once the lethal and anger-ridden Bex Nassar won her games.

Bex did what she needed to win the 67th Hunger Games, just as much as any other tribute. She followed her mentor's advice, stayed hidden until there were only a few tributes left, and then brutally murdered each and every one of them until her face was stained red. She was told that if she won the Hunger Games, she could live the rest of her life in peace, but they all lied. President Snow lied. After her victory, the president had his way with her, forcing her into pleasure for the Capitol's citizens. When she didn't comply at first, her parents vanished, and she'd be damned if she allowed Snow to take her brother too. So she agreed. She was a victor, and pretty, and caused problems. This is what happened to them.

She was tired of being one of Snow's toys. She was beyond angry. But fire was catching, and Bex Nassar was going to wrap herself in petals for armor. President Snow wasn't ready for her wrath. NONE OF THEM WERE.

so I guess I'm joining the bandwagon with THG fics. conveniently, I was watching the first movie when I first noticed that some of my mutuals were posting fics, and that only made me continue watching the movies until I finally told myself, damn I gotta write one. this series was SO GOOD.

ANOTHER convenient thing: back in my deviantart writing days (please don't make me explain any further), I wrote an original THG story that was oc x oc and the main character was from district 7, and from then on, I ALWAYS wanted to see more district 7 ocs. I'm surprised a lot of people don't talk about them because they have just of much of an advantage in the games as the career districts??? and forests + chopping wood = my fave aesthetic. so here's me showing more love for my fave district again 🥰

hope you guys will like it! this story will be split in two parts: act i will be before the 3rd quarter quell and show bex's life and her bidding for the capitol and act ii will be the actual games, and we'll see where we go from there! also, just want to shout out medusatruther for being the first person to use devery jacobs as katniss!
