Fated Encounter

After putting their bags safely inside their respective rooms, Ash and Serena both began to walk out of the Pokemon Center and made their way together to Harmony Meadow just outside if town. With no hours to spare their thoughts begin to dance like a flower in the wind...

Serena's POV

Arceus, this is the best day ever. This reminds me of the first time we were alone together in Kalos, maybe this could be seen like a date as well... I began to attempt an old trick, I reached for Ash's hand and I actually touched it with the greatest delicacy though I don't think Ash noticed, unfortunately I was stopped by both my nervousness and the nostalgia. I wasn't watching where I was going and ended up catching my foot on a loose rock on the grassy green path we were taking to Harmony Meadow. I closed my eyes anticipating a hard fall but I never met the hard embrace of the floor...

Ash's POV

"Serena!" I shouted in worry as she hurtled towards the floor at horrid speed, my heart skipped a beat and everything slowed down as I reached for her arm. I grabbed her swiftly but lost my footing as I soon fell to the floor first

Serena's POV

I slammed to the floor but I only felt a soft impact as if something had broken my fall on to the grassy plain. I slowly opened my eyes as my breathing slowed to normal. My renewed gaze was met with the auburn fire in the eyes of my lifelong crush. The sunlight above reflected into his eyes as he watched me. I squirmed slightly when it finally occurred to me what happened. A furious rosy blush covered my face, it grew even deeper when I realised it was identical to Ash whom I was still awkwardly on top of. I quickly got up and began sweatdropping, the blush still apparent on both our faces. "Ash, please forgive me, I'm so sorry." I felt guilty that i may have caused him to get hurt. "Serena..." I looked up at him with a small smile and I was met with two hands and a hat. He placed my hat back on my head and offered me his hand to get up.

Ash's POV

"Don't feel bad Serena, I only care that your alright" I replied while trying to keep my composure after finally realising what happened. My face had gone hot in the whole incident and still was when I pulled up Serena. With my thoughts away from me, I pulled her up harder then intended. My face grew ever redder when I realised we were in a hugging stance. She looked so cute. For some reason I wanted to bring her closer to me, to protect her. I know why I feel like this. My fever is acting up again. We stayed like that for a few seconds, neither of us knowing what to say or do.

Serena's POV

I died inside a few seconds ago. My heart exploded...exploded with joy and started beating a million miles an hour. Ash was red raw and looked so cute, though I could hardly speak. He pulled me up with his great strength and I stumbled into his chest. By now my whole face had been reddened. Our childhood played out in my head, the one difference to that nostalgic moment was I feel a different sensation to the pain in my leg, it was a warm embracing sensation that I knew all too well. I swear I felt Ash bring me slightly closer even if it was slight in those short seconds Our faces were mere inches apart I could feel his breath. No words were exchanged in that moment. That sensation I was feeling... was love.

Ash's POV

I broke the hug. I almost didn't want to and the disappointment was evident on both our faces as the blushes had disappeared to. "So, should we keep going the meadow is just up ahead." I quickly uttered to break the tension and silence. She nodded with a smile and we continued the rest of the path, we scaled a small incline to be greeted by a pretty impressive view. Serena's eyes widened, the events of a few minutes ago seeming like a memory, she leaped with joy. "This place is even more gorgeous then I imagined." I definitely couldn't deny the fact, masses of flowers and Pokemon of varying species littered the park like field ahead. I glanced over at Serena who was still in awe of the world around us. I took the initiative and took her hand in my own, it just felt right. She looked at me in surprise. "What are we waiting for, lets have some fun." I beamed. I dragged her for a few seconds but she quickly caught up to my pace as we ran hand in hand to the meadow.

Both Ash and Serena were happy to be at the meadow after all that happened. They both separated to deal with their own things. Ash felt the need to use the nearby stream to clean his arms which had been stained by grass during his mutual fall with Serena. He was also collecting his thoughts. Serena was on a bench nearby doing some thinking of her own...

Serena's POV

My hand, he held my hand. It had happened before many times after he would save me from precarious situations or that pesky Team Rocket. But this time was different I was gonna be the one to drag him here but he beat me to it and he went for my hand willingly. There are so many signs pointing to him developing feelings for me but I'm just not sure, he is still the same dense old Ash that I have always adored. But if there is a chance maybe I could take it today. Don't give up till its over. Ash's inspiration. He was mine. I could tell Ash how I truly feel. I glance over at him and smile as he washes his arms in the blue stream, the arms that saved me, the arms that embraced me in their strength. A faint tinge of pink crept up on my cheeks. Arceus, this has happened far too much today. I glanced away from Ash and to the floor beside me noticing one flower standing out among the rest. It was a strand of brown. Auburn petals reaching from its pollinated center. Somehow it looked familiar. "Nine petals..." I thought as I gently plucked it from its natural throne. This reminded me of a game me and Ash played at Summer Camp on the second to last day. I know this flower to be called a Yin Lotus. They say whoever finds its twin is your destined partner. I began to gently pluck the petals one by one. "He loves me... He loves me not... He loves me." I said quietly as I placed each discarded petal to my side on the bench...

Ash's POV

I began gathering water with my free arm and applying it to the grassy wounds on my elbow. It stung very slightly because I had small incisions on my lower arm but it is worth it to see Serena happy and healthy. I took a moment to peer back at her when my elbows were clean. She looked so content. I don't know why but despite the array of pretty scenery around her, she was the only beautiful object in my field of vision. I shook it off and looked to my side. A single flower was clear to me, not just because of its obvious beauty but also due to its ocean blue colour from its outstretched petals. It was oddly familiar and it made me happy.. They were dancing in the light breeze. Not even the clear blue stream could compare to the flowers unique shade of blue. I don't how I knew but its name was Yang Lotus. It felt familiar as if I had seen one before. "Nine petals." I noted to myself. I decided to pluck it from the Earth, I put it in my jacket pocket for safekeeping, I felt like it was important.

After a short while passed by of the teens collecting their thoughts and perhaps regaining some of their older ones, Ash made his way over to Serena on the bench. He gave her a reassuring smile to show he had finished up and they both continued. They spent the next few hours walking and talking about all of the Pokemon and the beauty of the flowers around them. At some point on the walk, Serena's confidence got the best of her as she intertwined her hand around Ash's. To her surprise he didn't protest or let go, in fact he tightened the grip confirming he was ok with it. This, of course, caused her to blush. Ash on the other hand was blushing but it seemed like the many layers of density in him were breaking down. The sun had set partially over the horizon when they finally stopped and sat on a bench.

Ash's POV

Gah, my feet are killing me so I asked Serena if we could rest. She pouted for a second like a baby being denied candy, her expression quickly brightened and then she winked at me signalling her agreement. "Today has been a blast!" I say while staring Serena in the eye. My thoughts quickly divert to the flower in my pocket. Its familiarity growing stronger. " Definitely, I'm so glad we got to have some time together, your really fun to be around Ash." She replied with a gleaming smile. It made me get another tight feeling except not as heavy, as if I was expecting it. It felt good and warm. "Hehe." I rubbed the back of my head in embarrassment of the compliment. "Also..." I looked at her and my hand fell back to my side. Our gaze met once more. "Thanks for saving me from a nasty fall earlier, it was very nice of you."

Serena's POV

"Thanks for saving me from a nasty fall earlier, it was very nice of you." I said a little quieter trying miserably to hide my blush. I felt a hand on my shoulder, I looked up to see Ash with a toothy grin. "I couldn't exactly let you fall flat on your face, what kind of person would I be if I let you get hurt." He said with kind determination. "Besides smiling suits a pretty girl much more than crying." I looked up immediately in shock. I couldn't believe my ears. Ash still had that toothy grin with a slight tinge of pink accompanying it this time.

Ash's POV

Why did I say that! I immediately scolded myself on the inside. I began blushing slightly on the outside of course. I've probably made her feel uncomfortable, now she will wanna leave, maybe she will walk away, maybe she..." That's very sweet Ash, thank you." I was caught off guard. She was ok with what I said. Thank Arceus, I thought that she would be offended by me saying that out of the blue. My thoughts went to the flower in my jacket pocket. It would make a nice little present. I turned my attention back to Serena, however she had her back to me and right in front of her was a smiling Shroomish. I began to have a flashback to the day before last in Summer Camp. Me and Serena were playing with a Shroomish that Professor Oak had helped out. Then we started to play a game Serena suggested.

Flashback POV

Serena and Ash gleefully played tag with a newly healed Shroomish. Serena only really got on with Ash when they were at Summer Camp and Ash was more into playing with Pokemon but had warmed up to her more than anyone else. The young honey blonde took off her straw hat and placed it on a nearby tree stump. She then went behind a bush much to Ash and Shroomish confusement. She came back out moments later with a pair of flowers. "These are the Yin and Yang Lotus." The honey blonde youngster stated handing the blue flower to the raven haired boy. "They say if two people take the petals off while saying love me, love me not they are destined to be together." Ash happily complied and followed the instructions given to him by his new friend. Serena did the same with her auburn lotus. They both stopped on the last petal. They looked at each other and smiled. Both youngsters plucked the final petal and said, aloud, their respective phrase. "He loves me" "She loves me". Both kids looked at each other for a second time this time both with a blush. Shroomish looked on at both of them happily. "Serena let's promise to always be together." Ash spoke up. "Do you promise Ash?" Serena asked extending her pinkie. Ash nodded signifying his promise as he intertwined his punkie around Serena's, both blushing lightly.

Ash's POV (Undensified)

It hit me like a rhyhorn. I couldn't believe I forgot that. Serena... Do I love her? Do I tell her? She probably doesn't remember that or her feelings. I'm so dense and I should have acted earlier. My mind came back to the moment. She was still preoccupied with the friendly Shroomish. I looked at the flower again. I began plucking its petals to the last like all those years ago. I quietly muttered the same words under my breath.

Serena's POV

"Your such a cutie!" I squealed as the Shroomish smiled up at me. It looked over my shoulder for a moment then quickly scurried off. Wonder what that was about. I finally turned my attention back to Ash who was just fiddling with something in silence and muttering. I was about to ask if he was ok until I realised what was in his hand. My eyed widened in shock. " A Yang Lotus!" I exclaimed. This startled Ash and made him drop the flower. I quickly went to pick it up with his hand ending up on top of mine. I gripped the flower and pulled it up with his hand on top of mine, blushing furiously all the way. Ash removed his hand now trying to hide his own blush. I pondered over this and then noticed how only one petal remained. I gestured for Ash to take the flower and finish as I took out my own with one petal remaining. He smiled. I was curious of the result. He took it gently from my hand. "She loves me." "He loves me." We mutter just loud enough to hear as the last petals falls to the ground. Does he remember that day? Our game... Our promise? "I remember Serena" as if he read my mind. I gave him a beaming smile which he returned. " I can't believe I almost forgot." He said as I showed him my matching flower. Yin and Yang, two opposites coming together as one. Our gazes met and the world fell silent. Ash held his pinkie up to mine as they intertwined. Our faces leaning in closer, our breathing increasing in rate so close... The unmistakable sound of a growling stomach filled the surrounding area stopping us both in our tracks. We both blushed and pulled back, Ash scratched his cheek in embarrassment of the interruption while I pouted. "Sorry about that." Ash chuckled nervously. I decided to play with him a bit. "All you think about is food, is that the only thing you care about." I smirked. He turned red shaking his head in denial. I remembered the macaron from earlier still in my pocket. " I care about loads of stuff not just fo-" I cut him off by shoving half the macaron in his mouth. "I'm just messing with you silly." I winked at him. I decided to take it a step further. He owes me now anyway. I leaned in and put my mouth around the rest of the macaron. Our lips met for a few seconds before I bit down taking half the macaron with me. Ash was dumbfounded and we were both blushing. "I was wondering if you would share" I winked at him once more as he slowly chewed the rest with the same dumbfounded look it was so cute.

Ash's POV

My thought about getting hit by a rhyhorn? Yeah, try a herd. I have been caught off guard, my defenses fully lowered. The macaron tasted much sweeter then any one before it. And yet I had to admire her forwardness. It was crystal clear, she liked me from the start. Now I know why Bonnie always called me dense. Well my feelings are also clear. I love Serena and now its time I show her my forwardness. I grabbed her chin and went to pull her in when my action was interrupted by a Swarm of Volbeat and Illumise dancing in the last sun rays of the day. We both looked over at them. We were mesmerised. I saw my chance. I got up and kneeled down in front of Serena as something had just occurred to me. She looked at me puzzled. "Ash?" I smirked. " Serena, may I have this dance, I'm pretty sure I owe you one?" Her eyes lit up. She was looking forward to dancing at the dance party but it unfortunately ended just before I had the honour. She accepted and took my hand. I purposely pulled her into a hug. She blushed but understood. I put my arm around her waist and she put hers around my neck. We began to dance rather well despite my lack of experience. She was clearly leading and our gazes never left one another. We were in our own little world. The Volbeat and Illumise began emitting beautiful sounds giving us a bit of music. When they saw us dancing, they began to pair up and follow suit. Soon we were surrounded by Volbeat and Illumise dancing away on the final moments of sunlight. They illuminated the night sky attracting more Pokemon to the event.. When me and Serena finally looked away we both looked down to out feet to see two flowers intertwined by the stems. They were Yin and Yang. They were one. Like us. We plucked the flowers. I put the end of the colour on Serena's right ear adding to her grace. It matched her eyes perfectly. She put her flower on my outside jacket pocket. It was then I realised why it was so familiar. "It matches your eyes." We both said simultaneously catching the other off guard. We both laughed. "No flower matched your beauty Serena." I added causing her to blush. After taking one last look at each others flowers, we both uttered our respective phrases. "She loves me." "He loves me.". We both smiled lightly, "I love you." we said in unison. The grass types began releasing flowery moves all around us. All the petals either auburn brown or ocean blue engulfing us in a twister of beauty. We embraced and shared a real kiss, no macaron obstructing the passion. Like a true petal dance.
