Run Henry

A/N: This chapter is in Henry's perspective.

Run! Run! The voices were whirling around in my head as I ran on all fours, my fur sticking to me from the force of the harsh wind, puffs of air visible as I was breathing heavily. I felt sick and my head was spinning but I couldn't stop. I had to find them and get help. I could feel my tears fighting to the surface again as a house was coming into view. I pushed myself harder to go faster, not caring about the tracks I was leaving in the snow. Keep going! The voice pushed me more as I howled loudly to gain someone's attention. Within seconds, I heard a wolf growl lowly and then saw a flash of fur bounding out of one of the houses, heading straight towards me with its teeth bared. I instantly moved into a submissive state, tail down and head bowed. The wolf approached me slowly. It was the beta of this pack.

He shifted, a man not far behind running towards him with a coat bundled in his arms. The Beta began to speak again. "Why are you in the Night Shadow pack?" His voice rumbled as he glared down at me and I shifted back, curled in a ball in the snow.

"My name is Henry. I was trying to find a friends pack but could only find this one. I need to find her pack before the Shadow Luna pack kills her." I watched as his face dropped. Snow crunched as the other man draped the coat over him and then took off his own coat, throwing it on me. "Thank you." I nodded and quickly pulled the warm fabric around me.

"Your friend... What's her name?" He asked me.

"J-Jane." My voice trembled as I shivered from the snow, my teeth chattering. Both of the men's faces instantly went pale.

"The Alpha's mate, Jane?" They asked me in a synchronized tone. I nodded and they both instantly helped me to my feet. "We'll contact her pack immediately." My eyes widened.

"You know her pack?" I pulled the coat tighter around me as they began to lead me to what seemed like a pack house.

"Yes... We do." The Beta said, sounding a little upset. "How is she?" I hesitated. She wasn't doing well at all but how could I tell them that? They took my hesitation as an answer and exchanged worried glances. "But she's alive?" he asked, looking back at me.

"She looked after me. It's because of her that they let me go." I frowned, feeling the tears pushing their way back up. "He's going to kill her now because she disobeyed... He's taking her life instead of mine..." I looked down at the snow covering my feet as a I stopped walking. I didn't have any time to stare however, for one of the men lifted me up and began to carry me.

"Jane would have done it even if it meant spending eternity in solitude. She's too caring for her own good. We'll find a way to save her... Now we know there's a chance." I looked up at the man carrying me, his gaze focused on our destination. He showed no sign of emotion although his voice clearly showed his feelings. He gave off a fair amount of body heat. It was like laying next to a fire. My eyelids grew heavier and heavier as I watched him and the world around us darken. I could see his lips moving but hear no sound, and moments later, I was asleep...
