Up A Tree: Part Three

Persuveus stood and tears they fell

as he called to one and all

They returned for he spoke well

Soon they came to his call

"Where is the wind that shakes the bough

And brings the tiger falling down?

Where is the water rushing fast

That swallows all who wander past?"

"In your treetop sanctuary

Hidden like a bird so wary

Know that I have come today

To carry fear so far away"

"I am of the moon and the sky

Like you, I was destined to be trapped and die

but the stars themselves had a plan

to beat extinction and break all man"

The tiger in the lonely tree

now was watching and intrigued

He licked his wounds and lifted his head

He did not like this for a bed

"We are at a turning point

The world waits for our rebirth

Man has broken his oath and now

we shall take back this defiled earth!"

The tiger waited and seemed unmoved

until he finally stood on his paws

Then he jumped down from the tree

and at last they all could see

The bullet had lodged in his shoulder

and had grazed the corner of his eye

Yet he let Persuveus approach

and for a while stayed nearby
