Appearances:
Johnathon Bomber is a stereotypical Texan at the time he joined. Six foot two and two hundred pounds, Bomber looks pretty much like he walked off the set of an old Western. Out of uniform he dresses in Levi jeans, cowboy boots, button down shirts, often with a bolero tie, leather belt with a large oval buckle, and often with a Stetson cowboy hat.
It's often commented that Bomber looks like a younger Sam Elliot, especially with the mustache he's worn since AIT. The only time he did not have a mustache was during Basic Training and briefly after Book Three. Bomber is a large man, muscled from years of ranch work, with heavy callused hands.
Born in the kitchen of his family's ranch house, with a mid-wife in attendance, John Bomber grew up on one of the largest ranches in Texas, a sprawling landscape in the hundreds of thousands of acres in size. It's often commented that the Bomber Ranch is bigger than the state of Rhode Island. The Bombers are mainly involved in beef, however there is a section of the ranch that is used for oil and natural gas extraction and refinement, and a valley section that is off limits due to damage by the US government that occurred during uranium extraction in the 1950's.
John Bomber grew up with a rifle in his hands, a pistol on his hip, and a horse underneath him. His days were full of hard work and public school, however he's a likable person who is community conscious and during High School he often organized food and charity drives, convincing his father to match the amount raised by the school.
At a rodeo when he was 10 years old he met a young woman named Prudence Steerman, who he fell madly in love with. When he was 15 he discovered that Prudence Steerman was his cousin and his parents and hers demanded that they stay away from one another.
In High School, Bomber was a member of 4H as well as the Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts. He had been a bull rider since he was thirteen years old, and at the rodeos since he was five years old. He was popular in high school, a linebacker and a letterman. He did exceptionally well in math, particularly calculus.
Winning a football scholarship, he turned it down, citing that he was from a wealthy family and didn't need it, that he'd just take acceptance to Texas A&M and the scholarship could go to someone who needed it. In college he majored in Business and achieved a Bachelor's Degree in 18 months. After college, he entered the military so that he would be eligible to inherit his family's vast wealth and ranch.
During Basic Training and AIT, Bomber was noted for his humor, his willingness to help others train in skills, and his teamwork. During Special Weapons training instructors noted that John Bomber had an instinctive grasp of orbital mechanic and weight to thrust ratio.
His "control", a PsyOps Specialist, noted that Bomber's friendliness and comradarie were part of his emotional makeup rather than an act.
At the end of AIT, Bomber went to Airborne Training, where he was high in the class rankings. After that was when he was assigned to 2/19th Special Weapons Group, which was not at Graf, where he met up with Stillwater, Anthony, once again.
After Book One Bomber has an appendectomy scar and a puncture scar under his belly button.
After Book Three he has a scar on the right side of his cheek, from where a piece of shrapnel or a bullet had blown a hole in his cheek.
After Book Seven he has a scar on each side of the chest, surgical scars on each side, a surgical scar under the left side of his ribcage, as well as an X shaped scar on top of his head with a bullet scar in the middle.
Bomber is usually a talkative, joking man who's jokes rarely are intended to be hurtful or a put down. Even in uniform he gives off a 'cowboy' vibe due to his appearance and Texan accent.
