𝐈𝐈𝐈: The Witches Who Burned For Corruption
❦ ═══════ •⊰❂⊱• ═══════ ❦
The Brown skinned Bennett witch walked beside her older sister at a steady pace, yet her eyes were dazed and unfocused. As if her mind was somewhere far away from the little town in a completely different world of her own making. She felt completely detached from the reality she was faced with.
It had been almost a week and a half since her interaction with the entity Death. Her nights are plagued with torments of watching her death on repeat like there would be no end to her suffering no matter how many times she died. She would rise only to fall again. Today, the nightmare had once again woken her precisely at the witching hour, as it always seemed to do for some unknown reason. The sensation of being torn apart limb by limb by dark figures with razor-sharp talons that tore to peel off her skin without remorse haunted her waking form. Her blood splattered everywhere it could reach and stained her teeth crimson as she choked on the bile of vomit coming up her throat.
In her dream, she was unable to scream as the shadows ripped her apart. It was an agonizing fate Bonnie had endured in silence. Her sister had rushed into the room when a violent, earth-shaking scream echoed loudly in her bedroom. The horrifying sound nearly shattered the windows in her bedroom. Hours later, when she managed to calm down and regain a sense of sanity, Bonnie realized she was the one who had screamed.
"Earth to Bonnie Bennett, you there?" The firm yet soft voice of her older sister brought her back to the present and she felt a hand grip her forearm gently. Her eyes became attentive and gazed at Calaeno's expression. There was worry written all over her sister's face and Bonnie could tell she was trying to hide just how much there was.
The young witch was slightly surprised they were already in front of her sister's car. It didn't feel like any time had passed. "Bon, we need to get going. I have work today." Calaeno conversed idly and stepped away from her sister to put down one of the bags on the ground. With one hand still holding the bag of groceries along with her purse, she pulled out her keys from her pocket and unlocked the car with a press of the remote.
Bonnie nodded absentmindedly, almost numbly, as she opened the car door from her side and put the two bags in the back seat. Bonnie sat in the front passenger seat and let out a quiet breath. She wouldn't want to burden her sister any more than she had. Especially when Calaeno had work and was taking care of the house. There was still a small part of her that wondered what her sister did for work, and she was able to provide more than enough money for them to have a comfortable life. Things has been difficult after the passing of their parents.
Bonnie's green eyes peaked at the sight of her sister as she got in the driver's seat. "I'm sorry I spaced out. I didn't even realize I did." She said, giving a small smile. The younger witch rubbed her eyes with her hands in a feeble attempt to wake herself. It was a curious thing to wonder if she was awake or if this was all some sort of dream that would end up being her worst nightmare. The dreams felt real and true as if somewhere out there, it could happen at any point.
Calaeno gave her a look, her lips pursing together as she initiated the car. She pulled out of the parking space to head in the direction of the exit of the parking lot. The look Bonnie knew well was always the look her sister gave her before a scolding. "Bonnie, this is why I warned you so many times against using the Book of Death. There would be no telling what effects it would have on you. It is a dangerous item." She retorted with a shake of her head. Her hands gripped the stirring wheel in frustration at her stubborn sister, who did not seem to understand what she had gotten herself into. Or the consequences that would later come.
It wasn't hard to recall the heated conversations with her sister. The warnings were that she was foolish in summoning the entity of Death. That was more likely to end in her death if she went through with gathering the necessary ingredients. Of course, she didn't expect anything less after telling Calaeno this dangerous plan. She knew if her grams were present at the time, she would have gotten an earful and a shoe to the head. Fortunately, her grandmother was out of town for business and wouldn't be back for quite some time. "Why couldn't you have listened to me, Bon? This is the effect of that book; none of this is normal, even for a witch." She huffed, taking a right turn down the street. Bonnie glanced out the window, looking at the gray skies as her sister continued. "I don't think I told you the story of how the book was created, have I? I am sure you've already sensed the Dark Magic attached to the book."
Bonnie turned to her sister, her brows raised in question. This was something that most certainly caught her interest. It was one of the things she was curious about, knowing she would have to use the book. "How was the book created? Grams told me Dark Magic is forbidden magic because it corrupts the soul and darkens the heart. It is a condemned form of magic." She was still in the learning stages as a novice, but from what she knew of magic, the wide range of witchcraft that existed, and the likes of Dark Magic were never meant to be used. Though it was powerful enough to imprison gods, there was a heavy price to pay if one chose that path.
"The Death Book was created from a form of Dark Magic referred to as the Sacrificial Art. You are right. Dark Magic is a forbidden category, but among the many, there are the rotten ones that break the rules. And pay one way or another." Calaeno began in an even tone. No hint of emotion was present in her expression or tone. "One of the first warlocks created a cult devoted to the God of Peaceful Death, Thanatos. The cult was made up of eight covens of witches and sorcerers alike. All who wished to please Death." Calaeno's tone sounded sour as she spoke. No fondest could be found in the tale she was speaking of. "The cult devised to gather all the knowledge they could in a book full of information that ranged from summoning Death to how to open the box of Eygreous The Conqueror. There are many hidden secrets written in the book that are made to be difficult to decipher." The cult was annoyingly stingy with their findings and refused for anyone else to easily gain their knowledge. It was written in riddles more often than not.
Calaeno paused, speaking as the car slowed down and stopped at a red light. "Once the book was complete with years of research within each page, the covens sought to sacrifice themselves as the final ingredient in binding and creating the Book of Death. The sacrifice was meant to ensure the book would be sealed in their magic, blood, and flesh. It would make the object immortal and impossible to destroy." The dedication is quite admiring if you ignore the things these covens did in the name of Death and to accomplish their goal of appeasing Thanatos, but that was a story for another time to tell. Calaeno knew her sister wouldn't be able to stomach it now. "It is said they slit their throats, and some died in a purifying fire of the heavenly flames. All the rumors indicated they all purposefully died tragic Deaths as part of their plan. It was not an accident. The Death Book was born in the waking of blood and gore." It disturbed Bonnie how calm her sister was in talking of these calculated deaths, like their lives didn't mean anything and had no impact on her life.
A brief moment of silence rang still. Bonnie needed to figure out what to say exactly in response to this story. It now made sense why dealing with the book was so difficult and suffocating. "All of that is horrible. Did Death make them do that?" Bonnie questioned carefully, racking her fingers through her hair anxiously. How could anyone willingly sacrifice themselves by choice like that? It sounded insane.
Her sister shook her head; they were a couple of blocks away and would be home soon. "No, Death did not make or influence them to do anything." It was one of the misconceptions that Thanatos orchestrated the massacre, but that was not accurate. "Thanatos warned the warlock not to go through with the creation of the book. In Human and Supernatural affairs, the personification of Death does not interfere. It usually doesn't concern Death otherwise. Those witches sacrificed themselves by choice. They died because they wanted to die." Bonnie couldn't help but flinch at the harshness in her sister's voice. How cold and heartless Calaeno sounded, as if she secretly wished the cult were suffering even in death. "The goal of the ritual was to appease the god Thanatos as an offering so their souls may ascend in hopes they would not burn for all eternity, but no one knows if it has worked or not." Calaeno shrugged her shoulders. She assumed Thanatos knew the fate of the cult and did not want to disclose it, letting the rumors form themselves.
"What happened to the warlock that was leading this cult? You didn't say what happened to him." Bonnie brought up. The story of the book was gruesome but in a twisted sense was an interesting tale to hear about.
"Oh yeah, him," Calaeno said, almost like she had forgotten about that detail. "No one knows what happened to the warlock. Some believed he was the first to sacrifice his life or the last. Others thought he was yet again punished for attempting to break the curse placed on him by Death." she conceded simply. Bonnie had no chance to ask another question when her sister beat her to it. "Before you ask, the warlock had committed a crime against Death. Therefore, Thanatos cursed him to never die until he righted his wrongs and was condemned to watch all he loved die. I can't joke how much these beings will hold grudges against you." Calaeno snorted. Getting on the bad side of being who doesn't forget was a terrible mistake. There would be no peace no matter where you went or how much time passed. And Thanatos was no different.
"Wow. Holding a grudge sounds like an understatement." Bonnie exclaimed. It didn't excuse the things the warlock was involved in but it made sense his goal was to break his curse and no longer have to live forever.
The older witch parked the car in front of their house and turned off the ignition. Just as Calaeno opened her door to step out of the car, she gazed at Bonnie with a calculating look. "That book might very well damn you for a cruel outcome, Bonnie. There is no telling the worsening of these nightmares if you remain using the book." Her fear and concern for her sister's life grew further. Calaeno knew there would be no way of saving her sister from this path she put herself in. Thanatos would spare none of them a second time.
"I do understand the risk, but I need the book, Cal. That is the closest thing I have to help my friend." Bonnie reiterated. Her mouth opened wide as she yawned tiredly. Her eyes watering from her tiredness. Sleep was impossible to catch some nights.
"We are not going to agree on this, so let's put it aside. You need sleep, Bon. I'll make you some tea." Calaeno countered, offering peace for the time being. The deadlock between them wouldn't be resolved any time soon, and they both hated fighting for this long. The younger Bennett hummed in agreement as she stretched her arms until she heard a satisfying crack. "Could you get the door open? I can get the bags." She held out the house key for her sister to take.
Bonnie nodded and grabbed the keys. She stepped outside of the car and walked to their house. When she came closer to their home, she noticed a box positioned on the right side of their doorstep. "Cal, did you order something? There's a package here." She inquired loudly to her sister as she moved closer to the box and saw it was much larger than it looked from a distance. Bonnie carefully touched the box, inspecting it to see if there was a name of sorts. Yet the large box was completely blank on all sides. However, it appeared to look pricey and was painted in matte black. She didn't have the money to order things, but she knew her sister liked to shop online, so maybe this was what Calaeno was expecting.
"I haven't ordered anything in weeks. What does it look like?" Her sister interjected. Her arms held the two grocery bags as she made her way to the house.
Bonnie put the key into the keyhole and pushed the door wide open. From the corner of her eye, she could see her sister walk into the house as she remained looking at the box. "It's a black box with no name or address attached to it. It looks expensive, too." She added, squatting down to pick up the box but instantly was overwhelmed by the heavy weight of it. She could not move the box even an inch from where it was placed like it was an unmoveable bounder. "And it's heavy as hell, too," she grunted out. What could be in this box that made it so damn heavy?
Calaeno steadily came back onto their porch with her hands on her hips, and her head tilted the side. "Bonnie, you have magic you can use to lift the box. You wouldn't have to struggle," she said cheekily, a smile etched on her radiant features. The dimples on her cheeks, defined by her smile, reminded Bonnie of how pretty her sister was, even in her mid-twenties. Calaeno examined the box with sharp eyes. The smile fell off her face as she became guarded with concentration. She summoned forth her magic, and it came through her veins. Her hands moved around the mystery box as a similar hue of bright gold magic gathered around and surrounded the box. Rather the box was a threat to them or was just wrongly sent there needed to be determined before anything else. Opening it now was not something they could risk.
Bonnie watched in a gaze of astonishment at her sister's magic, swarming the box with energy. She didn't speak as the focus was all needed for this spell. She remained sitting on the wooden porch beside her sister. Her mind went to the things she was going worried and anxious about. The deal she had made with Death, Bonnie often thought about when it would truly begin. It had been nearly two weeks in counting, and she hadn't received anything. As the days passed, that feeling of anxiety grew on her, and she had to physically force herself not to think about it more. It would come when it came. Obsessing what she can't control would not help her. She would just have to wait.
"Bonnie," Calaeno called out to her. Bonnie broke from her thoughts, her eyes widening slightly at the book in her sister's hand. It appeared worn out but still in good condition. The title was written in a language she could not read. "This is the book of the first vampires and how they came to be. This is the information you have been waiting for. They arrived today." Her sister carefully handed her the book, and an instant shock to her spine and to her toes made her shiver. Her fingertips gently caressed the rough texture of the dark red but rustic cover as she welcomed the weight of the book. She carefully opened the book but found instantly that she could not recognize the language in which it was written. Bonnie made a mental note to herself to start learning the language later. "You know what this means, don't you?"
There was present relief of finally receiving what she had bargained for. The frustration and rising panic she felt made her attempt to rip out her hair. The anxious hope of when it would arrive, but now that it was here, more would come eventually. Bonnie knew she had to keep her side, too.
Bonnie glanced into her sister's eyes and nodded firmly. She had gotten herself into this and she would get through it one way or another. "Help me get the rest of the books in, there is a lot of reading I need to get started."

"I can't believe the God of Death is actually real," The young teenage wolf, Tyler Lockwood, exclaimed in never-ending shock. Of course, after his curse was broken and he was forced to face the reality of the supernatural world being a very real concept in his life, it was difficult enough to accept. But now, they all had to come to the realization that gods and celestial beings are real, too. Now, that was just a mind-discombobulating thing to grasp. "And you met Death Bonnie? How did the meeting go?" The young werewolf male asked, glancing at his friend. Bonnie was otherwise occupied with picking up and mixing all sorts of plants, flowers, and dry herbs together.
For the life of him, Tyler couldn't pronounce half of the names of the herbs Bonnie was mixing together or what their purpose was. All he and Caroline had to do was collect them, and luckily, it didn't take long for them to arrive. Tyler could admit the young witch was a lot smarter than he was after all, and looked like she knew exactly what to do.
Bonnie hummed in attentiveness before she grabbed a medium-sized mallet to smash the herbs into a dark green color. It looked almost to the point of black but still retained the hints of green.
After she had received the box of information, Bonnie spent a good few days beginning to learn the language in which it was written. The ancient tongue was a dialect similar to ancient Greek and Latin. Luckily, she had already been learning the two languages and was consistently learning to read them. She recognized the majority of letters, but there were some things she needed help to read. Calaeno was more than happy to help her translate the readings. It was discovered later on the note at the bottom of the package. It was from Death who informed her of the first task she was to complete.
"Bonnie said it was like being ensnared in an endless sea of dark, murky nothingness. Think of like the sensation of drowning as it felt like it was swallowing her every being and leaving nothing left. Everything was pitch black darkness. Nothing could be seen. And nothing was heard, like you could hear the drop of a pin in the still silence. All that was present was the hollowness of dark gray eyes that were the only thing she could see in that bottomless darkness." Caroline summarized in precise detail to her ex-boyfriend the unsettling explanation Bonnie had conveyed to them days after the meeting with Thanatos.
It had stuck to her completely of how vivid the description was. She couldn't imagine how Bonnie felt being the one trapped like that. There was no doubt, it must have been haunting and eerie to have a meeting in. She was curious how Bonnie endured that without even so much as seeing the face of Death. Her best friend was no doubt helded it better than anyone of them could have.
"Bonnie, if you didn't see Death's face, how do you...what do you call Death as you haven't seen their face?" Caroline awkwardly attempted to speak to her busy friend, who barely sent her look in her direction as she spoke. But she knew Bonnie her nonetheless.
"Oh my god, wow, Bonnie. That sounds horrifying, and you didn't even see a face, just eyes." Tyler spoke his tone nothing but baffled. He was impressed with how brave Bonnie was to have faced Death in a position like that and still held her own. "I can't even imagine how spooked you must have been and trying not to show it. I would have pissed myself. I'm not even joking here."
Bonnie paused in her mixing and snorted at his words, bringing a small laugh out of her. "You would have had your tail behind your legs and tried to run; I can just imagine." she teased her friend, laughing more when he rolled his eyes at her with a sarcastic chuckle of his own. As her small-ridden joy grew dim, she sighed. She tried her best not to think about the feelings of being trapped by a powerful deity that could have well wiped her off the face of the planet without so much as a second thought. The entire thing was always unnerving when she thought back to it, but it was necessary to make the deal. "I can't even put into words the rollercoaster of emotions I felt. Overwhelming is an understatement. My mind won't let me overlook anything that happened." Bonnie had been careful not to go into all the details of how truly traumatizing it was. It was carved deeply into her mind that in hers to come, she would never be able to forget.
"And to answer your question, Care, Death had told me to refer to them as either Death or Thanatos. That was all the answer I was given. I don't think godly being care much for pronouns and such." The witch shrugged her shoulders. She imagined Gods had better things to do than stick to titles that lower beings clung to.
"This is all really fucked up," Tyler remarked with a shake of his head as he gathered up one of the books left on the messy table. Caroline mumbled in agreement with his words. They were truly in the deep end now with all this; none of them could deny their part. Luckily, among the many books scattered, the Death Book was not present. It was kept hidden out of sight in a safe place where it would harm no one. It was needed in the favor of Thanatos but did not always need to be in the open with its heavy, dark energy. "So Bonnie, what have you found out so far about these books? You said you got the books a few days ago. These notes you write say otherwise." Tyler flipped through one of the notebooks just to catch the sight of notes back after back on each page.
The witch added one more grass-like plant to the potion. It seemed to be the last thing she needed as she stopped adding additional herbs and was just grinding it all together. "I'm still learning the language the books are in, but Cal knows the language and has been helping me translate it. I wrote down the notes I was able to get before I took a break to make this potion." Bonnie informed her friends, calling to her magic with ease, and two notebooks appeared hovering over the messy table. "In total, there are twenties books on the original family known as the Mikaelsons. Each member has some books dedicated to them and their extended lives. The first four books are about how the family came to be. You'll be as surprised as I was. There was more to it than I expected."
She shook her head; Bonnie couldn't have predicted how much the rumors of how the first vampires came to be were so false and held little truth to them. It was not even close to the reality. It slightly made her want to sympathize before she remembered they must all be homicidal murderers after a thousand years of living on this planet. And the thought of one coming for her friend made all the sympathy wash away.
Caroline grabbed one of the notebooks and flipped through it. Without fault, the front and back of each page were completely written up with various notes and translations that she could not read for her life, but the English she could comprehend. "Shit, Bonnie, this whole book is filled. You only got these books a couple of days ago." She was astounded at the dedication Bonnie had to be juggling learning a whole new language as she made a potion she needed for whatever Death had told her to do. She glanced closely at the first pages of the origin section and tilted her head to the side. "Wait, you're telling me the original family of vampires were not even meant to be vampires? Didn't one of the rumors say they were turned as a means of protecting themselves against the wolves?" Caroline recalled the hours spent trying to find anything they could and came up with almost nothing but the things that had been heard around. It almost felt like a waste of time.
Bonnie nodded her head once. "The rumors weren't completely off technically. Esther Mikaelson turned them after the death of her youngest child, Henrik. He was torn apart by wolves when the human Klaus Mikaelson had taken him to see the wolves turn on the full moon." She couldn't imagine how that must have felt as a parent to discover her child's dead body, especially after the death of her firstborn child. It must have broken her. "Esther's grief was horrific and overwhelming. It had grown to the point she had caught a deadly illness that turned the grief in her heart's content to poison in her veins and magic. It was killing her from the inside out." Bonnie shuddered at the thought of such suffering. She had no idea until the reading that an illness like that even existed and killed many beings who had fallen under the spell of grief after the loss of a child.
The illness not only poisoned her blood to corruption but was eating away at her magic and life force. Esther was becoming a hollow shell of herself with each passing day. "My ancestor Ayana had prayed to Death in their hour of need. Nearly a week later, she was able to create a cure for Esther."
Caroline gasped in shock at her friend's words as she followed along with the notes as well. "That type of illness actually exists? Greif is destructive by itself, sure, but it shouldn't be something that can end up killing you."
"As I am learning more, as we all are, it's getting obvious there's much more out there that exists than this, Caroline. An illness like this that turns your blood to poison has been around for thousands of years. It's hard to think about and I know that is scary to think about. But it is only the tip of the iceberg." Bonnie breathed out tiredly, cracking her fingers to calm herself before she began to speak once more. The notebooks purposefully lack the summary of how the illness was created for good reason. Bonnie couldn't find herself writing it.
The blonde vampire's expression turned grim, and she wanted to say more but kept it to herself to listen. "Esther could not take the death of yet another child. There were already numerous other children who did not survive. She pursued a way to make her children indestructible. To make them immortal and unkillable so not even the gods she desperately feared could harm her children." It wasn't a considerable shock to hear of the deceased children Esther. The time period the first vampires were born in was when the plague, among other deadly illnesses and poverty, was most present in their area. Nevertheless, it didn't make it easier to apprehend this woman being driven by her grief to not only her own destruction but also the making of monsters who were doomed by forces they had no hope of controlling.
"She couldn't face that heartache she went through. She didn't want to bury another child. Esther wanted to be sure that nothing could hurt them, and not even her husband Mikael could inflict harm on them." Bonnie couldn't help but feel disdain toward the father of the Mikaelson family after reading about the physical and mental abuse he put Klaus through. Who wanted nothing but his father's approval. Yet only received beatings, torments, and words that he would always be weak no matter his effort. "She found a spell from a dying goddess whom Esther had offered shelter to during a storm. Esther was blessed with a ritual that would make her children live until the end of time. But not without warning from the dying goddess there would be consequences if she did the ritual. Esther's intention was never to make her children vampires. No, she wanted them to be immortal beings. There were plenty of other vampiric species around the time, and Esther did not want her children to suffer from bloodlust."
"If she never wanted them to be vampires then how did they become the first vampires?" Tyler asked this time, confused but was very invested to learn more. He wondered if Esther was a powerful enough witch to make them immortals, did something go wrong with the spell that made them vampires? And if so why wouldn't she have found a way to reserve it?
Caroline was confused as well. It sounded like something must have gone wrong in the ritual for them to have become vampires if that was not the intention.
"I know what you are both thinking that something must have gone wrong. Maybe there was a misplaced incantation or a missing ingredient that must have turned them. I thought the exact same thing." The Bennett witch took a drink from her water bottle and let pass a small huff. As a novice witch, she could at least articulate from the reading that the ritual Esther was given was a highly complicated and complex spell. It would require a lot of magic and energy. "According to the reading, Esther did everything right, and the ritual worked out as it was meant to make them immortal beings. But in forcing her children into immortality, she crossed a line she was never meant to cross and attracted the wrath of the Death Divinity."
"The Death Divinity? Is that a different person or another title of Thanatos?" Caroline questioned with a thoughtful expression, her brows furrowed.
While Tyler on the other hand looked dumbfounded, not understanding what his friend said like she was speaking a different language. "There's another being?"
Bonnie squinted her green eyes at the two supernaturals in irritation. There was still more she wanted to say before explaining anything else. Though she knew it couldn't be helped. They were all trying to understand. "I will answer any questions you have after I get this last piece out, okay? I don't want to keep repeating the same things." The witch said. The exhaustion in her voice made her tone sound airy and quiet that a human could not have been able to hear her, but her friends heard her without difficulty. Bonnie felt she might fall asleep if she closed her eyes for too long. And she still needed to put the potion away in a cool area until she added the final ingredient.
She had already gone through this with Damon, Stefan, and Elena and it was draining enough that she wanted to sleep the rest of the day. Both her friends glanced at each other before they nodded. They would keep quiet until Bonnie finished.
"As I was saying, Esther's actions had caught the attention of a very dangerous and powerful being. The original family was all destined to die a thousand years ago. They were all of different ages and times, but they were all meant to be dead. They weren't meant to have lived this long when they were not born to be. She defied the laws of nature. The rules of life and death by making them immortal. It not only altered their fates but the fates of those they encountered. And this could not go unchecked without punishment." Bonnie paused for a moment to recollect her thoughts from wondering. So much of what she had found out made sense. It was baffling, and almost none of it was known by anyone. It was possible not even the originals themselves knew the full story.
"The ancestors pleaded with Esther to not continue with this path she had taken. And was warned numerous times by Ayana Bennett not to do the ritual as she would not be prepared for what would come. Esther did not listen. The Divinity of Death punished Esther by cursing her children for never-ending bloodlust that would never be sated or satisfied. Maddening bloodlust that would drive them to the brink of madness and make them slaves to a hunger that will never wither and fade away. The Divinity inflicted the same cruel fate Esther feared. Forcing her to bear the burden of being at fault for her children, who are abominations of nature and disregarded from what they were meant to be." It was a harsh penalty Bonnie could acknowledge. Esther being told her actions would be her downfall and still refusing to back down made Bonnie admire her in a way.
"Her connection to nature was almost completely severed, and she was shunned among many witches. They did not want to associate with a woman who angered the higher beings. That is how the first vampires came to be." Bonnie concluded the story. It was a grim story to digest and take, but it was all a part of how they would find a way to beat Klaus.
"Wow," Caroline exclaimed. "That's pretty harsh and really messed up. I did not expect that to be the reason for how they were created." She racked her fingers through her blonde hair, crossing her leg over the other.
"The Divinity could have punished her by killing if they wanted but instead made her suffer and live with her failures. If that's not brutal." Tyler uttered, astounded at the entire story. It felt like some messed-up tale, but it was very much real. That was the hard pill to swallow.
Bonnie hummed at their words in agreement. Before the witch could speak again, her mouth stretched as a loud yawn came from her mouth. Her eyes watered and forced her to blink a few times to clear her vision. "I'll say this before forgetting. The Divinity of Death and Death, Thanatos, are not the same person. Thanatos, with the title of Death, oversees the reaping and deliverance of souls who have passed from the living. The Divinity of Death is among the first-order of sacred beings known to be the Everlasting. They are the divine above the divine. Every being of death only existed after the Divinity of Death was brought into existence as a further extension and representation of Death. But the Divinity is always the main concept and embodiment that ties it all together."
Bonnie stopped speaking for a moment, trying to put together how she wanted to explain it in a way that made sense. "Think of it as Thanatos is the surface boss that is in charge of certain big tasks while the Divinity is the one in the background who had created it in the first place but someone else manages the things you see happen." She tried to explain through more straightforward means as they were all having to get used to the idea of entities on top of the food chain.
"I think I understand. Thanks for explaining, Bonnie. You seem to be getting all of this." Tyler said, flipping through the notebook in his hands.
Caroline made a noise in agreement. "You are rocking with this entire celestial existence and gods are real thing. I'm not even surprised. You were always the smart one, Bon." She praised. Her best friend was the quick learner among them and knew what to do even when none of them did. "You look tired. You should rest soon."
Bonnie nodded in agreement. She needed a break to clear her mind. None of this was easy to comprehend or believe without feeling out of your mind. "I'll rest soon. I probably don't look like it, but I am struggling. Things are coming together, and it's not too hard to understand once it goes through my mind." She was a fast learner with the things she cared about. If she can handle it before being told she is a witch from a powerful bloodline, she can handle anything else. "I just hope we can use all this information and the rest to find a way to save Elena." She eventually needed to find a way around killing Klaus, as Thanatos' warning was clear in her mind. But that would be a problem for another day.
