Chapter 40 - Her Dark Side
JR's POV
"What's wrong, Dohee?" I asked. I was quite worry about her. She was sobbing through the phone. Something wrong must have happened. "Oppa... Please pick me up now." She pleaded.
I quickly grabbed my jacket and ran out the apartment to get her.
*****
I was in front of Kim Sooji, what I heard is Dohee's former bully. She invited Dohee for a sleepover to make up all the terrible things she does to her. Dohee wanted to go, it's the only way for her to make new friends but I don't trust this Sooji girl a bit.
I couldn't see Dohee outside the house. I picked up my phone and called her. She didn't answer. There's something going on. I jumped out of my car and ran to the door. I was about to knocked on the door but suddenly the door burst opened, revealing a sobbing Dohee with a hoodie that covered her face.
She was looking down to the ground. "Dohee, are you ok?" I asked, putting both of my hands on her shoulders. She nodded her head, wiping her tears away.
"I'm fine, oppa. Let's go home now." She forced a smile which was clearly fake. She was about to walk passed me but I managed to grab her wrist to stop her.
"Did she do something to you?" I asked in a lower tone.
Dohee turned to me and shook her head while mumbling, "No, she didn't."
I obviously didn't believe her and wanting to do something about it. This bullying needs to stop. "I'm going to talk to her." I simply said, letting go of her hand.
Dohee stopped me when I stepped my foot inside the house. "Just let it go, Oppa." She cried, pulling me away from the door.
"Let me go, Dohee! This needs to stop!" I exclaimed, pulling my hand away from her, causing Dohee's hoodie to fell from her head. I was shocked, seeing her messy hair. It seemed like someone just cut it. The lenght of her hair is different than usual, it's more shorter; only reached until her shoulders.
"Did she do this to you?" I grabbed a lock of her hair as I examined it. "Dohee, Did she do this to you?" I asked again. I was pretty mad about it.
Dohee just nodded her head. "Just let it go... I just want to go home." She said quietly.
I sighed. "You expect me to let it go? You think by staying silent will make it go away?"
She looked at me, smiling like she usually does while nodding her head. "Yeah," she said. "Let's go home, oppa. I need some rest." She told me.
I nodded my head, not wanting her to think so much about it. "Alright." I managed to murmured. I grabbed her hand and lead her to the car. The ride was completely quite.
I reached out for the radio and turned it on, only to hear the song 'adore you' by seventeen to be played on the radio. I quickly turned it off before Dohee could even figure out what song. She turned to me, confused. "What's wrong?" She asked.
I nervously shook my head. "A-ani. Let's just talk." I said as we talked about something about animals and plants. I don't even know why but Dohee seemed to be interested in it.
Wonder why I turned off the radio? I don't want Dohee to listen to it. She might remember things and figure out that she's been living with lies this whole time. I don't want that to happen. Call me selfish but I'm trying to help her.
Yes, she's Hyemi but ever since the accident happened, she was missing. I was puzzled and scared at the same time. I didn't want her to go back as an angel.
{Flashback}
After the accident happened, the police asked me about Hyemi and I didn't have a choice but to tell them her name. "Park Hyemi." I said. They asked me details about her and all I answered were 'I don't know's. The weirdest thing is that the person who's driving disappered.
I went back to the dorm and collapsed on the floor. I didn't know what to do. Suddenly, I got a call from BamBam. I didn't want to pick it up so I threw my phone across the room. The other members aren't here because of their schedules.
"Jinyoung," I lifted my head and saw Hyemi's brother, looking down at me. I was confused to see him. He moved away and showed me that Hyemi was laying on the couch, unconscious.
I stood up and rushed over to her, taking her hand. "I need you to take care of her." Her brother suddenly asked. I turned my head to him, raising my brow.
"What? Why? What's wrong?" I asked.
"She can't go back being an angel with this condition," he paused, looking down to his sister. "She've lost her memories."
I widened my eyes, looking back to her. "She can't remember me?" I asked.
"She can't remember anyone," he said. "She can't even remember anything about her or where she comes from."
"What should I do?" I asked.
"Keep her away from things that reminds her of being an angel and you have no choice but to lie about herself to her. Don't make her remember, that would only make it worse for her."
{End of flashback}
The thought of her forgetting about the times we've spent together hurts so bad but it was worth it to safe her. I couldn't be the guy for her to love, I have to lie to her that she is my adopted sister.
"Dohee," I called her name when we reached to the apartment. She turned to me, gesturing me to continue. "Do you love me?" I asked.
She scratched her head, confused. "What are you talking about, oppa?" She awkwardly laughed. "Of course I love my oppa." She smiled. I forced a smile while patting her head. She only loves me a brother, I was pretty disappointed by it but who can blame her? It would be wrong to date your own brother.
We walked inside the apartment that we shared together. The reason why I moved out of the dorm that I once lived with the Got7 members is because they might be suspicious about Hyemi. They had never meet Dohee before and Dohee had never meet them.
They believe that Hyemi died and thought that I was traumatized by it. Although, it's not true, I'm still traumatized by the fact that Hyemi thinks she's Dohee when she's not.
Dohee was inside her room, trying to fix her hair. I walked to her and laid on her bed, watching her. "You know what, let's go to the salon and fix this mess." I told her. She turned to me and nodded her head.
SuBin's POV
"SuBin, when are you coming home? You told us you'll be back here months ago." My mum cried through the phone. I sighed, tapping my finger on my desk inside my room.
"I know... But I'm studying for my finals." I told her.
"Aish... Tomorrow is your last day of finals, can't you come back the day after?" She sighed.
"I-I don't know." I shuttered, thinking about Seokmin.
"I have someone who wants to meet you. I bet your interested." She said. Oh no... Mum never knew that Seokmin and I were back together. She still dislike him for not coming when I was in the hospital and now she wants me to date some guy that she met.
It's hard for me to say goodbye to Seokmin but why do I even bother telling him that I'm leaving when he only thinks about Hyemi. I know that he's trying to move on from Hyemi but it kind of hurts me that he's dating me just because he wants to forget about Hyemi. I'm not mad, just heartbroken. I believe that Seokmin should be happy when he knows that Hyemi's not really dead.
How do I know, you ask? I'll tell you how. I met that Jaemin girl just before Seventeen's concert and I couldn't come because I have some studying to do.
{Flashback}
I was in my room. It was pretty dark and the only light I see is the study lamp on my desk. I was reading while making notres on what I just revised on.
Suddenly, the light was turned off. The room was completely dark, I hardly see anything. I moved myself to the light switch but unfortunately, I can't find it.
"SuBin." I heard a voice calling my name. I was shocked and terrified on who was it.
"Who is it?" I asked, trying to feel where the person's was.
The lights in the room finally lights up and I saw a Jaemin smirking at me. I was utterly shocked by her existent and she was standing in front of me. How can I see her?
"Why are you here?" I asked, still confused.
She let out a laugh. "Do you really think I saved you from that coma?" She suddenly asked.
"Uh? What?" I rose a brow.
"Listen, I never wanted to wake you up from that coma. There's only one reason why I did," she took a step closer. "The world of good angels lost their powers because of you. It's a good thing for us though, dark angels."
I gasped for air when she told me that. She didn't really saved me from the coma because of sympathy, she only did that for herself and her world. "What do you want?" I asked.
"Nothing at all. I just want to let you know one thing," she smirked again. "You might not know this but Seokmin still has feelings for Hyemi."
I bit the inside of my cheeks, trying to hide the fact that I was heartbroken. "Yeah? So what?"
"I'll just tell you this, Hyemi's not really dead." She said. I almost fell on my feet, hearing what she said.
"What? How did you know?" I asked.
"I was there when the accident happened," She rolled her eyes. "I saw everything."
"What happened?" I questioned. I was curious.
"Let's just say that Hyemi's brother isn't so nice after all," She raised her eyebrow. "Because of him, Hyemi's living with lies. She can't even remember who she is and I bet you know who she is right now."
"She's Dohee, Seungkwan and Vernon's friend?" I tried to take guess. Jaemin simply nodded her head, wiggling her eyebrows.
"That's correct, SuBin," she mocked. "Just to let you know, evil darkness is surrounding her. She might be innocent and all in front of Jinyoung, who claimed to be her brother, but she's evil in the inside."
"Why are you telling me this?" I asked again.
"So she can go back being an angel like she always dreamed of."
"Why?"
"All because of her, I can't go back home. My father thinks that I was the one who saved her from the accident when it's not me. As an angel of darkness, we can't do anything nice or else we can't go back." She explained.
"Are you telling me to regain her memories back?" I questioned.
She shook her head. "I don't want you to do that," she folded her arms together. "Let Seokmin do that."
{End of flashback}
I was standing in front of my college. I came too early and it's freezing outside. I head to my car and went inside. I looked down to my phone and saw my mum's calling. I groaned as I picked it up.
"What, mum? I'm busy." I told her.
"I'm just making sure if you're coming home tomorrow." She said.
I bit my bottom lip. "Yes, I'll be there."
"Great! I'm so happy that you decided to come! I really missed you, you know that."
I smiled when she said that. "Yes, I know that. I missed you too. I'll see you tomorrow." I said before hanging up. As much as I don't want to leave, I felt bad that mum got into so much trouble to make me come back home and I appreciate it.
All of a sudden, I heard a knock on the window of the passenger seat. I turned my head and saw Seokmin waving at me with his adoring smile. "Oh!" I gasped in shock as I unlocked the door.
He laughed and got inside the car with a plastic bag in his hand. "Hello, jagi." He said, giving me the bag. "What's this?" I asked, taking it from him.
"Oh," he rubbed the back of his neck. "It's rice cakes that I made just for you. It might not be that great but I hope you'll enjoy it. I really hope you do well on your last day of finals." He grinned as he looked down.
Seokmin, you're just making it hard for me.
I bit my bottom lip, giving him back the rice cakes. I saw his confused face before I looked down to my hand. "Seokmin, Let's end our relationship." I told him, squeezing my eyes shut.
"What?! W-why?" He shuttered. He sounded shocked.
"You deserve someone better," I looked up to him. "Hyemi's the one for you."
He tried to say something but ended up speachless. He backed away from me. "SuBin, what are you doing to me?" He asked, looking away from me. His eyes were teary, so was mine.
"I'm so sorry." I said to him. He just shook his head, taking his rice cakes and jumped out of my car. "Seokmin..." I whispered as tears fell from my eyes.
I'm really sorry.
Dohee's POV
I was at school. The bell rang, indicating to Science class. It was pretty quiet now that Seungkwan's not here. Too bad he don't go to school anymore. I kind of missed him.
"It seemed like you fixed your hair already." I heard Sooji said as she giggled with her friends, turning her head back to the front. I clenched my fist. I'll get my revenge.
I know I told my brother to let it go but it was just a cover up to what I'm about to do to her.
*****
It was lunch time, I was trying to find a place to seat but it seemed like I don't have any friends to sit with, I might as well just eat in the gym like I usually do.
Now that Seokmin's not here, I have no one to acompany me. Things like this made me realised not to take things for granted. I was about to eat my food until I felt a hand pushing my head.
"Ouch!" I cried. I looked up to see Sooji and her friends, looking down at me. "What do you want?" I asked.
Sooji laughed as she tossed my sandwich from my hand. "Payback." She simply said, starting to punch me with her friends. I was crying on the floor for help.
When they were done with me, they ran away, leaving me helplessly on the floor. I was sobbing, trying to get up. That's it, I'm getting my revenge.
*****
I was in the class, sitting on my usual seat. Sooji was sitting in front of me which I tend to see it as an opportunity for my revenge. I looked around and saw that no one was looking.
I smiked as I grabbed a scissor from my bag and slowly grabbed her ponytail, without her noticing. I turned around again to assure that no one was looking. I immediately cut her whole ponytail and return back to how I sat before as I put her hair and my scissor back into my bag.
Class had ended and I was surprised that she haven't notice about her hair. I smirked, packing my things and slowly headed to the door. "Sooji! What happen to your hair?!" One of her friend exclaimed.
I rushed out the door, still smirking. "Kang Dohee!!!!" I heard her screamed. I was mentally l clapping for myself as I head home.
