Search for the lie: Part 2

3rd person POV:

After updating Ryotaro. (Y/n) asked Pen if he was able to find something.

Pen: You want the jocks medical records?

(Y/n): After months of progressively good behavior, he shaves his head and lights a desk on fire.

(Y/n): Since he apparently disappeared, I want to know whether or not its because he moved away or was "moved away".

Pen: You think he lost his mind?

(Y/n): Maybe It was drugs. I just want to make sure there isn't a missing person case.

Pen: Hmmm... Luckily for you, I might be able to do something.

(Y/n): So you can give me the info?

Pen: I know somebody that can help...

(Y/n): Who?

Pen: None of your business.

(Y/n): Okay...

While Pen was busy getting medical records and seeing if Kirito is a missing person, (Y/n) went to question miss Tekol.

(Opening theme)

He found her alone in the classroom scratch lottery ticket while smirking.

Revealing his presence, miss Tekol hid her tickets while (Y/n) close the door to give them some privacy.

Shara: Can I help you, mister Conan?

(Y/n): Yes. I was just curious...

Shara: About what?

(Y/n): Your relationship with Kirito Kufo.

Shara: I was hired to tutor him a few times...

(Y/n): Apparently more than that.

Shara: What are you implying?

(Y/n): Nothing. I know you were in a romantic relationship with him. I have a witness.

Shara:!!

(Y/n): I also know that you're currently in a relationship with Ryotaro.

Shara:... So?

(Y/n): So, I would like to know if you had any... "enemies".

Shara: What?

(Y/n): Someone knew you two were dating. I want to know who.

Shara: Why?

(Y/n): Business.

Shara: What kind of business?

(Y/n): None of your business. So do me a favor and tell me.

Shara: Will you keep quiet about my relationships? I can lose my job.

(Y/n): Tell me what I want to hear, and I won tell anyone.

Shara:... Akemi Taja.

(Y/n):?

Shara: When she transferred here last year, Kirito asked her out as a joke. He made her wait in the rain for an hour.

Shara: From there, a joke the students have is to ask her to meet them somewhere.

(Y/n): Kinda cruel for a joke... And it's continued to this year?

Shara: Where not in the city where everything changes faster than you can get used to it.

Shara: Here, it's a slow burn until something new comes up.

(Y/n):(mind) Akemi might be the one who originally spread the rumor in hopes of getting the two caught.

(Y/n):(mind) Maybe if the lie theory is true, then maybe the rumor she told became a lie when Kirito left, which made miss Tekol and Ryotaro get romantic.

Shara: Is that all?

(Y/n):(mind)... Her attitude has been more... Strick lately.

(Y/n): Can you tell me where I can find Taja-san?

Shara: There's a cherry blossom tree on a hill behind the school. I see her there usually.

(Y/n): Thank you for your help.

Walking away (Y/n) heads towards the hill behind the school.

(Y/n):(mind) This case goes deeper then I thought... And I have a feeling it's about to go much deeper.

The school day had ended, (Y/n) saw Akemi on the hill, so he approached her.

With her back against the tree, she read a book, trying to ignore (Y/n), hoping for him to leave.

(Y/n): Can I ask you some questions?

Akemi: No.

(Y/n): Will you listen then?

Akemi:...

(Y/n): A third-year received a letter about the location of her missing item but instead found miss Tekol making out with a student named Kirito Kafu.

Akemi:!

(Y/n): It was you who gave that letter to the third year, wasn't it?

Akemi: No.

(Y/n): I know why people ask you out... It's a cruel joke.

Akemi: You have no idea...

(Y/n): Then give me an idea. Tell your story.

Akemi: Why?

(Y/n): I want to help a friend know whether his current relationship with miss Tekol is real.

Akemi: How would me, telling you, do that?

(Y/n):(mind) It would tell me if the Lie is the cause of the relationship. But I can't tell her that.

(Y/n): It might. But It will definitely help you to feel better.

(Y/n): I can tell based on how shut off from people you are, that you haven't told anyone.

With a heavy sigh, she puts her book away.

Akemi: If it gets you to leave me alone, then fine...

As she began telling her story, (Y/n) noticed a few things. He noticed some essential oils in her bag and a horrible smell in the air.

(Y/n) was familiar with the horrible smell, which is why he was unfazed by it, however, couldn't remember where he recognized the smell, but the smell did remind him of some cases he worked on with his father.

The young detective then quickly focused on Akemi's story.

Last year when she moved in with her grandmother, she transferred to this school. She didn't have any friends, so when the schools "cutest" boy asked her out, she, of course, jumped to accept.

But after spending an hour in the rain where she figured out it was a joke, she quickly grew bitter. And when the whole school took up the "trend" to ask her out, she decided that she didn't need anyone but herself.

One day, while trying to find a place where she could be alone during her free time, undisturbed by the other students, she found Kirito and Shara "showing their love for each other".

Figuring that was their spot, she led the biggest gossip girl to the roof at a specific time so she would see and reveal their relationship as revenge for the stupid prank.

When it ended up as just rumor due to the gossip girls stupidity of not realizing who the teacher was, she gave up. The rumor had spread to the point where there was too much misinformation about who were the ones dating to fix it.

She had taken pictures of the two to prove it, but when Kirito left the next day, there was no point revealing it.

Akemi: And now we're here.

(Y/n): I'm sorry.

Akemi:... It's not your fault, so don't be.

(Y/n): You come here to be alone, right?

Akemi: Yes. The stench keeps others away.

(Y/n): And you can bare it?

Akemi: I rub oils under my nose to barely notice it.

Akemi: I'm surprised you can bare it.

(Y/n): I'm acquainted with the smell already. What do you think that stench is?

Akemi: I don't know. Maybe a sewage pipe burst.

(Y/n): Someone should have noticed it by now if that was the case...

When (Y/n)'s phone rung, he picked it up to see it was Ryotaro. Answering the call, however, he found it was Pen.

Pen:(on phone) Yo (Y/n).

(Y/n): Pen? Why do you have Ryotaro's phone?

Pen:(on phone) Well after several minutes of waiting for the kid to call you but delaying with "I don't want to bother him" excuse...

Pen:(on phone) I kicked him in the crotch and took his phone.

Ryotaro:(in the background) Ow...

(Y/n): You kicked him?

Pen:(on phone) Okay, you got me. I headbutted his crotch, but only because he's taller than me.

(Y/n):(sigh) Why did you call?

Pen:(on phone) I got the info you wanted me to get.

Pen then explained Kirito's medical history and how there were no reports of him missing.

(Y/n): So he's probably alive.

Pen:(on phone) Don't cut to conclusions. There are no reports of him missing, however, that doesn't mean he's okay.

Pen:(on phone) There's nothing saying where he is. It's like he disappeared.

(Y/n): Do you think...

Pen:(on phone) Someone told a big lie.

At that moment, (Y/n) realized what that stench was.

(Y/n):... I just had a bad hunch. Can you and Ryotaro come to the hill behind the school?

Pen:(on phone) Sure.

They hang up.

Akemi: Tch, your inviting people here?

(Y/n): Akemi, how long has this stench been around?

Akemi: A few months, I guess...

Looking behind the hill, (Y/n) searches for something. His eyes then landed on an uneven patch of grass. It was about 6 feet long. It became obvious that something was buried there.

(Y/n): I know what that stench is.

Akemi: What?

He began to call the authorities.

(Y/n): It's the stench of a dead body.

(Ending theme)
