It was lunchtime and I was wondering who I could share my lunch with. Chie was with Amagi, Kou and Daisuke were with their guy friends and Ebihara was skipping school and wouldn't be back until the end of the school day... ahh! Turning my head back, I faced Yosuke and asked him if he wanted to share lunch with me and he accepted so we made our way to the roof. We ate the beef stew together and he seemed to like it, "Wow, this is so good! Is this your recipe, Yui? I only know how to boil eggs, myself...". There was a little bit more in the container so I decided to give it to the fox when I go to visit it today.

~Timeskip~

Going to the shrine to check up on the fox, it greets me like usual. I told it I fulfilled the wish on the ema and gave it some food as it jumped in joy while going to the offertory box. Maybe if I make more wishes come true, people will come and see the shrine and make more offerings! The fox yipped, as if it was agreeing with my thoughts.

I spent the whole day with the fox until it was time to go home and I said farewell to it.

The Dojima's and I were watching the news special about the biker gangs on TV.

"Young men recklessly riding their motorcycles, disturbing the peace of a quiet rural town. Our special report took a turn for the violent when one of the apparent leaders attacked the camera crew!"

They then show a boy with bleach blond hair being aggressive to the camera crew. Wait, he looks familiar... that blur isn't helping his anonymity if I can recognise him, they should get better editors.

"The hell are you punks doing here!?"

Yeah, I know this guy. It's the one who helped me out yesterday. Dojima seemed to be alerted by his voice as he adjusted his paper to be able to see the TV.

"This ain't a show! Get bent!"

"Still up to his old tricks...?" Dojima questioned, making Nanako and I look at him curiously. "Do you know him, Dad?" "Mmm, well, I know him through work. His name's Kanji Tatsumi... he's quite a handful. He's been crushing biker gangs in the area since middle school. But I thought he got into a high school and started attending class...". We continue to watch the TV, watching Tatsumi swearing up a storm. Should Nanako still be watching this? "Man, that blur sure is pointless. It's completely obvious who it is. The guy's family runs a historic textile shop. I think what happened was, he crushed the local bikers all by himself because the noise kept his mother up at night. It's a nice gesture, but he's way too violent... At this rate, his mother'll have to apologize again." So he is a good guy, heh. "Oh, the weather report's showing on the bottom. It's going to rain tomorrow. I'll make sure to hang the laundry inside the house." And it looks like we're watching the Midnight Channel tomorrow night.

"Whoa, it started raining... I guess the weather report was right." Chie walks back from the class window, "That means the show's probably gonna be on tonight." Mhm, time to drink lots of coffee tonight. "I hope we don't see anyone..." Same... "Yeah, that'd be the best. But if we do, maybe we'll see some kinda clue that can point us toward the killer..." That's always the good reason why we have to do this. "Well everyone, don't forget to check your TV tonight! Got it?" We all nod and each go our separate ways to our houses.

It's almost midnight and I have my fifth cup of coffee for the night, I hope I don't crash before seeing the Midnight Channel. I can still hear the rain pouring from outside as I scroll on my phone, keeping a close eye on my phone clock. '11:59pm'. I turn off my phone and keep my eyes on the TV as I see someone. A blurred figure on the TV, it looked like a male high school student but I couldn't identify anything else. I should call Yosuke, Chie is most likely calling Yukiko anyway. Dialling his number, he answers quickly. "Oh, it's you! I was just about to call your cell! So, what do you think? That was a guy, wasn't it?I wish I could tell what he looked like... Let's get together and talk more about it tomorrow!" I nodded and told him good night before hanging up and going to bed.

The four of us met up in the Junes Food Court to talk about the Midnight Channel last time. I ordered... four cases of takoyaki for me to eat while we talked... I think I'm obsessed. "Ahem, we will now hold a meeting on our investigation of the serial kidnapping-slash-murder case here in Inaba." Wow, Yosuke is going all out with this. Maybe I should too, "Dude, take a breath!" he really should. "Oh, then does this make this place our special headquarters?" "Yes! Exactly! Nicely put, Yukiko." That actually sounds cool. "Special Headquarters... Hmm, it does have a nice ring to it..." Mhm, "Anyways, as for what was on last night..." Oh yeah, that's why we're here. "Who was that? Do you guys know?" I asked as they all shook their heads, "I couldn't get a good view of the person's face, but it was a guy, wasn't it?" Nodding at Chie's statement, I add onto it by saying that they looked like a high school student.

"So that's how I looked on TV... Hm? Wait a moment. Didn't all the victims have one thing in common? That they were females with ties to the first incident?" Things can change, Amagi. "That's what we thought... But we still don't know who exactly we saw." That is also true, we can't just go and say it was a guy with a blurry image like that. "In my case, the image on the Midnight Channel changed after I was kidnapped, right?" "Yeah, the screen got clear all of a sudden and the program looked like some low-budget TV show. Come to think of it, maybe Teddie was right... Maybe we were seeing the other Yukiko from that world. But last night, we couldn't clearly see whoever it was. Could that mean... he isn't inside the TV yet? If so, then..." I get you two. "Da mea... *gulp* he's safe, for now." I spoke up, with a takoyaki in my mouth for the first part. "Uh-huh, I think that's safe to assume. If we can figure out who he is, can we prevent him from being taken?" I don't think it would be that easy though... "

"Yeah... And if all goes well, we might catch the killer in the bargain. *sigh * But to do that, we need to know who the latest Midnight Channel star is... I hate to say it, but I guess we'll have to wait another night and see what happens." I agree, it looks like another night of drinking coffee. "Ahehem... Well, that means if my deductions are correct... Though the image was hard to make out, and we can't say for sure who it was, it was definitely a young male. But if that's the case, it goes entirely against our prior assumptions... Since we cannot identify the person at this time, we have no choice but to wait and see what happens!" I don't know why, but Chie's abridged version makes me wanna laugh. Yosuke pointed out that we just said that which made me crack along with Amagi.

"Heehee, aha, ahahahaha! You're so funny, Chie! Ahahaha, oh no! M-My funny bone...!" "We-we-we should stop laugh- eheh, ahahahahaha!" I couldn't help myself along with Amagi, the two of us were just laughing up a storm as Chie and Yosuke watched us. "Not again..." The tomboy sighed as us hyenas tried to apologise while laughing. "This is how Yukiko and Yui really are, huh... Who'd have thought?" Chie and Yosuke continued to talk as I started to calm down, not Amagi however, who just kept laughing. "Grrr, when are you gonna stop that, you crazy hyena!?" Snrk! "Ahahaha! That's a good one, Chie!"

After my sixth coffee, with the sound of the falling rain outside, the Midnight Channel came on. The image was still blurry, but I could tell who it was. The guy who helped me with Sato and the one who was on that news special, Kanji Tatsumi. As the TV faded out, my phone went off. It was Chie. "Hey, did you see that?" I responded with yes and gave her the idea that it could be Kanji Tatsumi, "Yeah, I think so too. I knew I saw him somewhere! It was on TV! He was on that special news report! He's one scary dude. He was even yelling at the camera to "Get bent!" Alright, so we finally have a lead. Let's all get together tomorrow, okay?" I was about to hang up until Chie stopped me.

"Wait, can I ask you something Yui?" I grumbled in a curious manner,

"I just wanna know something, I've seen you hanging out with Yosuke, Ichijo and Nagase a lot these past few days and I was wondering... do you like any of them?". I hesitated before answering and thought of all three of them. Yeah, they were great guys but... I like Kou and Daisuke treating me like one of the dudes and I like Yosuke treating me the way he does. I don't get relationships like these back at home. Plus, I don't think Yosuke is over Konishi, Ebihara likes Kou and I don't think Daisuke doesn't even see me in that way. "None of them, they're all just really good friends!" I say as I think of the three of them with a smile, "Ah! Okay, I was just curious. Anyway, I'll see you tomorrow!" "Good night, Chie!"

"The one who was on last night... it's THAT guy, right...?" Chie asked the others, "Kanji Tatsumi, huh? He definitely didn't look like the social type." Yosuke added as I took a sip of my juice. "Now there's an understatement. Isn't he really scary? Did you see the news special the other day?" I mean, from what Dojima told me, he could just be playing the tough guy act. "You mean the special on biker gangs? I watched it too. He wasn't like that when he was younger, though..." Amagi spoke up, shocking both Yosuke and Chie. "You know him, Yukiko?" Actually wait, yeah, that went over my head. She knows him? "Uh-huh, but we haven't talked to each other in a long time. His family runs a textile shop, and we've been a customer of theirs for many years. So I speak with Kanji-kun's mother from time to time. Oh, why don't we go there now? We might be able to talk to him in person." Textiles shop you say? I could buy some stuff for my crafts! We all agree before packing up our stuff and going to the textiles shop.

Tatsumi Textiles

We stepped into the store to see an old woman in a kimono talking to a boy dressed in blue who looks to be our age. Actually, he looks to be about my height. Amagi greeted the lady with a bow which made the rest of us follow suit. "Ah, Yuki~Chan. It's so nice to see you." The old woman waved while the boy looked back to see us. "Well then, I should be going. You've given me plenty to think about, thank you. Have a good day ma'am," The boy in blue said as he bowed goodbye and left the store. Yosuke asked what was with him while I just sighed and followed Amagi's lead, "Yuki-chan, you're as lovely as always. Your features are starting to remind me of your mother when she was young. How can I help you today? Are you out shopping with your friends?". Amagi tried to ask her about Tatsumi while I got some yarn and crochet hooks to buy. I just gave the money to the old woman when Chie spoke up suddenly.

"Hey, this scarf... I've seen this somewhere before..." I looked over to see what Chie was looking at along with Yosuke. It was just a red silk scarf with a floral pattern on it, and yet it did look familiar. It then hit me, it was the scarf that was tied into a noose back in that room. Chie and Yosuke came to the same conclusion eventually. "Are you acquaintances of Ms. Yamamo?" The old woman asked as I nodded, we have to tell a little lie for this. "That scarf was meant to be in a pair with Ms. Yamano's, yet she only wanted the womens scarf in the end. It left us with no choice but to sell this one separately." So this place does have a connection with Ms. Yamano, albeit not as strong as we hoped.

"Hello! Delivery for the Tatsumi's."

A male shouted from the back, most likely the mailman. "Coming! I'm sorry, you'll have to excuse me." The old woman stood up and bowed before going to the back. "We should go too, I don't like being in a store without any workers." I say as the others agree and we head out.

Outside the textiles shop, we see the boy from earlier and Tatsumi talking to each other across the street. "Huh...? It's Kanji~Kun" Amagi points out as Yosuke freaks out and drags the three of us behind a public mailbox. Yeah, like they won't be able to see us here. "T-Tomorrow's fine with me... Huh? S-School? 'Course I'm going to school..." Tatsumi awkwardly told the significantly shorter boy, "Then I'll meet you at the gates after school tomorrow." He replied before leaving the blond boy to his own thoughts. "D-Did he say he was interested...? He's a guy... and I'm a guy... But... he's interested in me...?" He turned his head to the right and noticed us, "Huh? What the hell are you pricks looking at!?" Tatsumi then charged towards us, leading all of us to run away. Well, Amagi, Chie and I run away while Yosuke runs into the wall before running with us.

We all stopped near the bus stop in the most southern part of the shopping district, all out of breath. "That... scared the hell out of me. He's even worse in person than on TV..." Well, we were spying on him so it's kinda on us anyway. "The one on TV last night was definitely Kanji-kun..." Yeah, we have to remember that to get over this hurdle. "Yeah... And I just realized something. Remember the common points we were talking about? His mom fits the pattern. She's a woman, and she knew Ms. Yamano. But it was her son who appeared on TV... So what does that mean?" I know, "I think it could just be Tatsumi being targeted. We been thinking that connection is someone who was connected with Ms. Yamano, but we could just be wrong with that connection." Chie agreed with my statement. "Yui's right, we can't exactly jump to conclusions this early into the case." Mhm, we have to keep an open mind while keeping things in the back of our minds.

"I say we do stakeouts tomorrow. Two of us tail Tatsumi when he's with that boy while the other two stakeout the textile shop in case our guy is waiting for him. What you guys think? Yay or nay?" I'm starting to actually sound like a leader... it feels, good. "Yay!" They all say as we decide who would follow Tatsumi and who would stakeout the textile shop. "How about Yui and Yukiko stakeout the textiles shop while Yosuke and I tail Kanji?" Chie suggested as Yosuke looked at her confused. I'm with you Yosuke, I would think Chie would be with Amagi. "I'm fine with it if Amagi and Yosuke are fine with it," The two of them nod but Yosuke seems to have an idea pop into his head, "Say, Yukiko, can I have your cell number for the mission?" Chie started yelling at him, saying he must've planned on getting her number from the beginning. "By the way, stop calling me in the middle of the night to tell dirty jokes. It's creepy!" Wait, he calls Chie in the middle of the night to tell dirty jokes? Thank god he doesn't do that to me.

"Shut up, I'm not talking to you. So what do you say, Yukiko?" Trying again, Yosuke edges closer to the black haired girl. "Oh, I just remembered something. I have to get some tofu before going home, I'll see you guys tomorrow for the stakeout!" And with that, she walked away. Chie and I could help but snicker at Yosuke's failed attempt while we went our separate ways. Actually, Yosuke's failure was helpful. Because I just realised I don't have Amagi's number myself, I should ask her tomorrow when we're doing the stakeout.

Here we go, guys! One of the best Persona 4 characters is coming! Love Kanji so much, just saying lel.
