Shiro Dojima is my name, wanting to die is my game.
April 6, 1993.
I guess you can classify me as a problem child.
If I were dumb, I'd deny it.
But if you were in my shoes - you'd agree, wouldn't you?
I have transferred to three different schools. All because of behavioral problems.
...wait, did I jump the gun? I guess I should introduce myself.
My name is Shiro Dojima. I have a twin sister Kotone and an older brother Ryotaro. I love brooding and listening to music. I have one goal in mind: I want to die.
I was currently transferring to my sisters school, on a nearly empty train
What was on my walkmen? Angst filled poetry.
Time never waits.
It delivers all equally to the same end.
What? This wasn't-
You, who wish to safeguard the future, however limited it may be...
What? No, I want to die.
You will be given one year. Go forth without falter, with your heart as your guide.
Pfft. Lame. Who put this crap on here? I'm given just a year? For what?
I shook my head. Good old music would fix this.
Dreamless dorm ticking clock
I walk away from the soundless room
Windless night moonlight melts
My ghostly shadow to the lukewarm gloom.
>Meanwhile
She gasped, pointing her gun towards her forehead.
"I just... put it to my head..." She mumbled. "And pull the trigger..." Her body was covered in sweat. "No chickening out..."
"No..." She whined, placing the gun down. "I can't!"
>Back with Shiro
I looked towards Iwarodai's city scape. It was glittering - but smaller than Chibuya.
"Due to a malfunction in the switching system, today's rail schedule has been greatly altered. We apologize to any customers who were in a hurry. The next stop is Iwatodai..." The conductor spoke.
I didn't care.
I closed my eyes. I was tired. I didn't care.
A blue butterfly floats between your eyes,
Will you follow or deny?
You must know that ninth hour is doom.
Remember these words, Memento mori.
I blinked my eyes open, utterly confused.
Momento mori? Isn't that like, Spanish?
Whatever.
"...Iwatodai." The intercom rang.
"This is the final train bound for Tatsumi Port Island. Please take care to board before our departure."
I stood up, and grabbed my chrome suitcase.
I arrived late, which was lame.
I looked at my watch.
12:00. It's midnight.
I existed the car, and the lights were out - everything was tinted green.
Was this something Iwatodai did?
...I don't care.
Something about the atmosphere seems odd...
It was freezing when I went outside - everything was pitch black.
There were... c-coffins?
It would probably be the best if I hurry to the dorm...
As I walked towards the dorm, the moon was eerily gigantic.
I ran. This was freaking creepy.
I limped a little - due to my disability.
I was in a car accident when I was younger. I lost my parents and my right leg (I use a prosthetic leg - it's gray and white - but it's covered up by my pants so no one usually sees it).
Kotone lost nothing. I'm somewhat jealous of her, I guess. She wasn't even there. She didn't see her parents roasting alive like I did. I sat there - helpless.
...I don't wanna think about it anymore.
I reached the dorm, and pushed it open.
It was pitch black inside. The only person I saw was a short boy.
"Welcome." Said a boy in stripped pajamas. He had scruffy black hair and pale skin. "You're late. I've been waiting a long time."
An unknown boy is holding a piece of paper out to you... "If you want to proceed, then please sign here. It's a contract." He says weirdly. "There's no need to be scared."
I shrug. I don't care.
"It only binds you to accepting full responsibility for your actions." He passed me a paper - grabbed it from him - and, Jesus, it was colder than ice.
"I chooseth this fate of mine own free will." It says.
I figured I might as well just humor him.
I took a pen from the dorm's desk, and wrote my name.
Dojima
Shiro
I handed him the paper.
Shiro Dojima. Our magnificent white.
"...Very well." The mysterious boy mumbles. "Time is something no one can escape. It delivers us all to the same end. Wishing won't make it go away. And so it begins..."
The unknown boy disappeared, as if melting into the darkness.
Man, I must've been really tired.
"Who's there!?" I heard a girl call.
I ignored her.
The girl trembling out of the shadows with...
With... with a gun in hand.
She trembled in fear. "How can you be... but it's!"
"But it's what?" I said defensively. I had to play it safe. She did have a gun. "I know he's Kotone's brother but..."
Two other girls came to view.
A red headed girl in a white blouse and... and my sister.
"Wait!" The redhead halted.
The lights flickered on, and I could clearly see my sister, the girl with the gun and the redhead fully.
"The lights..." Kotone mumbled, her brown ponytail looking loose. She shrugged. "I didn't think you'd arrive so late."
"The train was shitty and stopped around midnight randomly." I told her. "Not that you'd care, Kotone." I spat.
"My name is Mitsuru Kirijo." The redhead - Mitsuru- introduced. "I'm one of the students who live in this dorm."
"Who's he?" The girl, who I now noticed had short brown hair, asked.
"He's a transfer student. It was a last minute decision to assign him here. He'll eventually be moved to a room in the normal dorm."
I shrugged. "I'm Shiro Dojima." I told the girl.
"...Is it okay for him to be here?" Kotone asked Mitsuru.
"I guess we'll see..." Mitsuru paused. "This is Yukari Takeba and of course your sister, Kotone Dojima. They'll be a juniors this spring, just like you."
"...Hi, I'm Yukari."
"Nice to meet you. Why do you have a gun?" I asked her bluntly.
Yukari blushed. " Uh, y-yeah... nice to meet you, too..." She ignored my question. Rude.
"It's getting late. You'll find your room on the 3rd floor. Your things should already be there. I suggest you tuck in for the night."
"Oh... I'll show you the way. Follow me." Kotone offered.
The walk to my room was awkward. I didn't like my sister.
"This is it... pretty easy to remember, huh?" She joked. "...Since it's right at the end of the hall. So, any questions?"
"Does that boy live here?"
Kotone looked at me strangely. "What boy?" She paused. "Um... can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"On your way here from the station, was everything okay?"
"What do you mean?"
"You know what I— ...Never mind. It seems like you're alright. Well, I'd better get going... Um... I'm sure you still have questions, but let's save them for later, okay? Good night." She rambled, not making sense.
Kotone walked down the stairs... thank god she left.
This is my assigned room... so yeah, home sweet home.
