•Chapter Two•
* The city was teeming with people, from strippers, commoners, to nuisances of society if there was a kind of person they would be located there. Proto is walking on the streets near the middle of the main city zone ~
~ This is a map of Canadria ( made by me ) ~
~ Here is a map of the city, the City Outskirts are the roughest and most dangerous as it's full of drug dealers, strippers, and criminals who want to be in the city but not be anywhere close to the Center Zone. The Main Zone is a general zone full of shops, restaurants, and basic things and the worst there are there whores, and thieves. The Center Zone is the safest zone and is where the richest of the rich of the city live and is the most protected, it even has guarded entrances to prevent any sketchy people from entering. ~
Proto walked through the crowded streets looking for anywhere that was hiring. He had already tied three other jobs, a butcher job, a cleaner, and a sign spinner job, but they'd just laughed at him and refused to hire him. Up ahead was a three story building with a light-up sign of a fish on a platter and on the door a paper that read ' now hiring night-shift dish cleaner '. Proto trotted over and opened the door. Inside it was somewhat dark and had a few dark brown wooden tables and a large bar at the side that was lined with leather seats and many brands and kinds of alcohol lining the walls invitingly. Proto headed to the bar and was greeted by a stern bartender.
" You here for the dish job?" The man asked and he cleaned a shot glass.
" Yes sir" Proto replied politely. The bartender snorted.
" Assumed so, you ain't much of the drinking type" he remarked and turned to a window that led to the kitchen." BOSS WE GOT SOMEONE FOR THE DISH JOB!" He yelled into the kitchen before returning to his bartender duties. Moments later a grumpy Indian man walked out with a small clipboard.
" Just got some questions for you boy, You ever washed dishes before?".
" Yes sir".
" You ever worked a job before?".
"Yes sir" .
" You going to complain about the pay and hours your given?".
" No sir I will not complain".
" Great your hired, you'll work Tuesday through Friday nights 6pm sharp to 6am, follow me and Akutil will show you the basics of your job" he lead Proto outside to a fenced in area outside with live seafood tanks and a dish washing station where an Asian boy, who looked like his life was the most boring thing ever, was washing dishes. " Akutil tell the new dish boy the basics".
" Yes boss" Akutil answered and looked at Proto with his dark, lifeless eyes. " So all you do is wear your pair of rubber gloves, and wash the dishes, once their washed you set them on this cart that will be brought into the kitchen by Tony the chef" he instructed in his dull and gloomy voice while washing dishes. " Once your shift is over you hang your gloves there and leave out that gate out back" he pointed to a gate that was in the back of the fenced off area.
" Understood Mr. Akutil" Proto nodded his head. Akutil gestures towards a pocket watch on the wall.
" Take that to keep track of time, says the day and time so you won't be late cause I don't want to be here any longer than I need to" he grunted.
Proto reached out and took the silver pocket watch, which also had an inscription of a fish on the back, and set it in his pocket." Can do sir, I won't let you down by being late I promise" he said before leaving out the gate and headed to the ally way next door. In the ally was a large dumpster and behind it an old tarp, some old crates, some metal bits, and a few tin cans. Proto got right away to making a makeshift home to live in until he could afford to rent somewhere to live. The sun began to sink under the buildings and darkness swallowed the emptying streets of Cyber City as Proto finished off his makeshift home. It was just a few crates stacked in a way that made a room like structure and a tarp that was strung over to keep the rain and cold out and make somewhat of a door held on the crates by old nails and heavy metal chunks. And of course he used the tin cans like rain catchers for him to drink out of. Proto crawled inside and closed the tarp door behind him. It'd been a rough first day out of his cryo freeze, but he was glad to get some rest and hope that things would get better.
