It's not that hard to become an intern for Stark Industries
Annabeth was prepared, and wanted to murder all the Avengers. When she found out Tony Stark came to Percy's apartment, and took him for interrogation, she would have stormed to Stark Tower right then and there. Except, Sally had convinced her to make a plan first, she was the daughter of Athena after all.
The plan was simple. She had to get an internship at Stark Tower (so it wouldn't look suspicious if she was there), find a way to bring a drink or food, or really anything up to Tony Stark. After she gave him the thing, she would look around for Percy. Lastly, she would sneak him out.
First, the application, she filled out a form and added some of her projects to help convince SI to hire her. She filled in the e-mail space with an untraceable e-mail Leo had created for each demi-god to use.
An e-mail from SI popped up almost immeadiately in Annabeth's inbox, she skimmed most of it, but at the bottom she saw, 'You have been excepted for an interview tomorrow at 10:00 AM sharp, at Stark Tower'. Yes! She thought to herself. She picked out her cleanest pair of blue jeans and a nice white t-shirt, so she was ready for the morning.
∆
Standing in the doorway of Stark Tower, she was amazed by the architecture, it was made to withstand earthquakes, tornados, or hurricane. It was an impressive structure. She got her mind back to the task on hand, rescuing Percy, and headed to the front desk. A man with a name-tag that said 'Jake', sat at the desk.
"How can I help you?" he asked her.
"I'm here for an intern interview." she replied.
"Annabeth Chase?"
"That would be me."
"Identification?" she handed him her student ID, and drivers liscense. He handed the cards back, with an additional pass. "To get you around the building, without FRIDAY setting off an intruder alert."
An intruder alert? That was going to make her life harder. "Thank you."
Annabeth went into an elevator that reminded her painfully of the Doors of Death.
Then the elevator talked, which startled her quite a bit. "Annabeth Chase, to the meeting rooms, I presume?"
"Uh, yes. Are you an AI?"
"I am Female Replacement Intelligent Digital Assistant Youth, or FRIDAY as Mr. Stark calls me."
"So, FRIDAY, can you tell me about the tower?"
"It was designed by Mr. Stark, after his home was destroyed by the order of Aldrich Killian. It has become the central hub of both, Stark Industries and the Avengers. The top three levels are private, they are the levels Mr. Stark has made living quarters."
"What can you tell me about the Aven-" Annabeth was cut off by the elevator dinging, and the doors opening. "Thank you, FRIDAY."
"Of course."
She headed into a hall way with doors leading to confrence and meeting rooms. Though the walls that seperated her from the rooms were glass, the couldn't see through them, since there was some kind of frosting on the glass, that made it easy to see the lights and darks, but nothing else.
Annabeth saw a door marked, 'Intern interview' and under, 'currently seeing: Annabeth Chase, please wait outside'. She walked into the cubicle where a woman sat at a small table, she had mousy brown hair, large, thick-rimmed glasses, and was wearing a lad coat that was slightly covered in goo, like she had been rushed out of a lab, in the middle of an experiment.
"Annabeth Chase?" she asked.
"Yeah."
"In this interview I'll be asking you some questions, and your answers will determine whether or not you get the internship. Got it?"
"Got it." she agreed.
"Why do you want to intern here?"
Because your boss kidnapped my boyfriend, she didn't say that, of course, what she did say was, "I'm into architecture, and designing things. The tower is such a cool piece of arcchitecture, and since I don't build things, I figured there would be plenty of people who might be intrested in my designs. Plus, it'll help me get into college."
She jotted down some notes in a notebook. "Why should you get this internship, andd not someone else?"
"I'm a quick learner, intrested in a bunch of things, and I want to make things that will help the world."
Just as interviewer opened her mouth to ask another question, someone burst in, saying, "Helen, how're the interviews?"
"It's Heather, sir. And they're going fine. This is Annabeth." the newly identified Heather replied.
It took Annabeth a second to register who had barged into the interview. "Wait, Tony Stark!?"
"That would be me." he smirked the same way Percy did. Maybe, just maybe, Tony would give her Percy if she asked.
"Do you know someone by the name of Percy Jackson?"
"Why do you want to know?" he asked, skeptically.
"He happens to be my boyfriend, and his mom told me you had taken him here." she watched Heather silently sidle out of the room.
"Well, then yes. He's in the upper-most floors of the tower."
"Please, can you take me to him?" she pleaded.
"Uh, sure, kid."
Yes! Annabeth silently cheered. Then he asked, "You were here for an intern interview, right?"
"Yeah."
"How about I give you that internship?"
"That would be amazing!" though she had really just wanted the internship to get Percy, she was also genuinely excited about the prospect.
"FRI? Take us to homebase." they stepped into the elevator and the doors closed.
