Chapter Twelve
"Tada here we are, we escaped from Dad!" Kym said happily. Doing a dance of the gods through the street. Mortals stopped to stare at the mesmerising dance. Triton joined in for the attention because he's just like that™.
The mortals stared entranced as the two siblings did the elaborate dance in perfect harmony. Mirroring each others movements like they had being doing this for centuries.
They probably have, Percy realised. Maybe even for millennia.
Brother and sister started circling eachother. Forearms touching, palms raised to the sky. Other arm behind their backs, as if they were about to bow down. Which is exactly what they then did.
Percy stared mesmerised as well. A faint memory came up in his head of doing this exact dance with a certain blond music god. He knew the moves that they would then make, before they even made them.
There was a tug at his heart and the feeling that he was being watched. It wasn't an uneasy one. Warmth spread through him and he smelt brass.
"Hey," said a man to his left. "Were they with you?"
Percy wanted to feel skeptical at the weird question, but he just felt warm all over with a fluttery feeling in his chest.
"Yes they were."
"Do you know the dance they're doing?"
"Yes I do actually. But its one done between two people so I can't join in."
"I know that. I was just curious, thats all," said the man. He looked Percy up and down, before extending his hand towards Percy. "May I have this dance?"
Percy thought of Apollo and was about to decline his offer. That was before he saw it. The blue eyes that perfectly mirrored the sky above.
Percy grinned and looked him up and down in return. Tall with dark hair, gorgeous blue eyes that Percy never wanted to look away from. Strong arms and an athletic build. "You know what, I think I will."
The taller man grinned as they to started to circle one another, palms raised to the sky. Forearms touching, one arm behind their backs. They bowed to each other before starting into the dance.
The crowd of mortals backed away in a wide circle. Even more stopping to watch now that another pair had joined the dance.
"So-" Percy started. "What brings you down to Earth Sunshine?"
"How did you guess?" he faltered for a second and Percy was praising the fates that he was right. In truth all he was going off was the eyes the same as the cloudy sky above.
Percy flashed the god a smug grin, "It was obvious."
"I think you forget who I am sometimes Starfish. You can't lie to me."
"Your eyes gave it away."
"So you notice my eyes then," Apollo smirked. Stepping forward to immediately dip Percy down. Breaking the routine of dance they were in. Dipping him down the same way he had at the party. Except this time Percy was aware of the burning sensations that radiated from the sun god.
The two hands on his back making warmth travel through his body. The eye-contact stealing his breath away. Apollo's leg between his own two ones making him want more. Their hips pressed together forcing electricity through his veins. And of course, the mad blush across Percy's face.
"What's wrong love? You're looking a little red," Apollo said. Percy could hear the smirk in his voice as he couldn't look away from his eyes.
Apollo lifted him back up to his feet with a slight twirl before starting to circle around again. Their forearms pressed together but Apollo kept one hand on Percy's waist. Probably to stop him falling over, which Percy was glad for because his legs had turned to jelly and his insides to mush.
They finished the dance the same time that Kym and Triton did. All four of them finishing in a bow towards their respective dancing partners.
The mortals clapped before walking away and continuing on with their business.
The other two walked over to where Apollo and Percy were having eyes- ahem where they were gazing into each others eyes.
"You knew the dance, I'm impressed," Kym said as a greeting towards Apollo. Who Percy realised looked nothing like himself. So Kym and Triton wouldn't recognise him unless they noticed his eyes as well.
"Um thanks. I don't think we've met, I'm Aidan."
"I'm Kym," she said then jabbed her thumb at Triton. "This is my brother Terry and I'm assuming you've already met our younger brother." She stared pointedly at Percy as if to silently say 'Why didn't you tell me about your hot friend?'
Apollo-Aidan for now- smiled. "Yeah we met a while ago."
Triton, being the over protective brother he is, raised an eyebrow at Apollo- wait crap Aidan. "How exactly do you two know each other?"
They hadn't noticed his eyes. Percy looked over to Aidan and saw that his eyes were still a mirror to the sky above them.
"I was on a walk one time and bumped into him. We kind of got to know eachother after that," Percy said. Saying the first excuse that came into his head. Thank Hermes that his voice didn't crack or waver.
His siblings looked convinced as they looked Aidan over.
"Perce I thought you had a type?" Triton said.
Percy choked and tried to cover his face with his hand while Aidan laughed freely.
"I guess I'm the exception then," Aidan said just as Kym grinned.
"I like this one, Percy I hope you don't mess this up." Kym grinned while Percy groaned and flipped her the bird.
Triton grinned a grin that perfectly matched his younger sisters. Percy saw a glint in his eye that he felt that he wouldn't particularly like. "Why don't you two go off alone together? Hmm. I'm sure you can get to know eachother again." He practically pushed both of them away, the glint never leaving his eyes.
Aidan laughed and pulled Percy along by the hand, "They don't want us here so we might as well go."
Percy and Aidan started walking away from them, still hand-in-hand as Aidan had yet to let go. Percy also didn't want him to let go. His hand holding his own was a constant reminder that he was there. Warmth spread along Percy as he felt whole again. As if his soul had been torn apart then put back together.
Percy risked a glance back at his siblings but regreted it as soon as Kym yelled, "REMINDER TO USE PROTECTION. YOU BETTER NOT GET PREGNANT." While Triton just stood there with his maniacal grin.
Percy looked back ahead of him, trying to quell the flaming blush that came across his face.
Aidan laughed again and led him into central park. Once he had decided that they were far enough in he immediately pinned Percy to a tree. Kissing him senseless. Not that it was hard because all sense had evaded Percy just by having him hold his hand.
Apollo caught Percy's hands in his own and pinned them above his head, against the bark of the tree.
They broke apart, still filling the role that they were mortals. That meant having to break apart to breath.
"I missed you," Apollo murmured against Percy's neck.
"Why?"
"Why wouldn't I? You're you."
"I mean why would you miss me? Why would anyone notice that I was gone?"
"Like I said, you're you. A lot of people noticed you'd left Olympus," Apollo said, leaning back so he could look the younger god in the eye.
"Probably noticed the weak god was gone," Percy said, looking past Apollo to a tree behind him. Bitterness tinging his tone.
Percy's tone surprised them both. Apollo's eyes widened.
When the sun god spoke his voice was soft, "You can't really think that about yourself."
"Why not? It's the truth isn't it?"
"No its not."
"I know it is. Its all I've ever been told growing up. You aren't good enough blah blah blah. Everyone hates you et cetera et cetera," Percy said, digging himself a deeper hole into his self-hatred.
Apollo tried to find a lie in his words but found none. "Who told you that?"
"Gabe, bullies at school. The voice up here." The ex-demigod pulled one of his hands away since Apollo had losened his grip to tap his temple.
"You've been hearing voices?"
Percy scrunched his nose. "I think its my conscience."
Apollo laughed at the face the loyalty god made. "Well all of them are wrong."
"Says who?"
"Says me," Apollo said, pinning the escaped hand back against. "And I'm the god of truth so there you go."
"Why should I believe that?"
"You don't have to," Apollo said softly. "But I really did miss you. I don't think you're weak, or worthless or forgetable."
Percy finally met Apollo's eyes. Green met blue.
"You're smart, funny, amazing, interesting, powerful." Apollo started listing off various things about Percy. A small smile came onto his face as he watched Percy blush when Apollo said that he was a good kisser. "And on top of that you are smoking hot-" Apollo kissed his nose. "I mean really beautiful."
"Oh shut up."
"You'd like that wouldn't you."
Percy tried to sink into the tree to get away from Apollo and his stupid smirk. His very hot and very stupid smirk.
"S-shut up."
"Would you like me to do this instead then?" Apollo lowered his head back down to Percy's neck. Kissing and testing different bits of skin between his teeth.
Percy completely melted and let his head fall back against the tree. Apollo, or Aidan as he was going by now, definitely knew what he was doing and was doing a very good job of it.
Funny how he came to the mortal world to get awat from the gods but they just kept pulling him back. At least with Apollo he wasn't going to complain anytime soon.
