Chapter Three

Apollo was worried about Percy. There he said it.

He was worried that he wouldn't take immortality well. He was worried that he might panic. He was worried that Percy's health would decline once he realised that he is a god.

But what he is the god of? Apollo has no idea. Ok that was a lie. He has an idea of what it could be.

Two domains. The main one that he doesn't think Percy will like. One other important one that is sort of like his 'minor' domain. He thinks that Percy will like that one. Or at least not mind it. Hopefully.

If he was right about the first one (and he always is) then he really doesn't want Percy to freak out. If he does then it might mean bye-bye Olympus. Alright that was a slight exaggeration, but it would definitely mean that Apollo would need a new temple.

It had been a few hours since Apollo had broke the news to Percy. Personally he was overjoyed, there was another god that wouldn't like Zeus and the way he ruled. Not that there wasn't other gods that didn't like Zeus, but the rest of them were too afraid to go up against him. Apollo was proud to say that he was not one of them, hiding in the shadows. He's the sun god, for Olympus' sake, he's not meant to hide away, he's supposed to be always there! Bringing the spotlight. Unless Hepheatus was there and he decided to build something that made a new spotlight.

"Hey Apollo?"

Apollo's head snapped to the side, facing towards Percy. He hadn't realised Poseidon had left, he was too busy having a nap on the armchair beside Percy's bed.

"Yes?" Apollo really hoped he wasn't mad or upset. But that was all understandable! He didn't like getting turned into a mortal so its fair that Percy didn't like being turned immortal.

"Since I'm a god now, what am I the god of?"

Hopefully that meant he had accepted it and wasn't about to demanded that he be turned mortal again. Which unfortunately was impossible, unless the one that turned him immortal wanted him mortal again. Apollo didn't think that he could give the son of Posiedon anymore bad news.

"Oh right yeah um... Do you really want to know or do you want to rest? You really should get more rest," Apollo started, looking everywhere but at Percy's eyes.

"Apollo," he started, his voice firm, leaving no room for argument. "What am I the god of?"

Apollo finally met his eyes, and regreted it. He saw the pain that Percy was hiding, the confusion, the anger. Apollo knew the anger wasn't directed at him but he still didn't want to test that theory.

"You are the god of two things, you have two domains." Apollo tore his eyes away from Percy's, opting out to stare at the blanket that the other god was sitting on. "You're the god of natural disasters and loyalty."

Apollo was dramatic, that much he knew. It must run in the family or something. He was hoping for maybe a gasp or the muses would somehow appear in the doorway singing about whatever. None of that happened but it certainly would have filled the silence that followed his words.

"Natural disasters?" Percy asked.

Apollo met his eyes again and saw a new emotion shining through, confusion. (Is that an emotion? He isn't sure)

"Yeah," Apollo said letting out a sigh in relief, glad to be talking about something. Maybe Perseus could feel the awkward silence between them. "Earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, volcanoes. Those type of stuff."

"And loyalty?" the newly turned god asked.

"I think it would be similar to Aphrodite and love. You could be able to see where someones loyalty lies and feel it when someone is betrayed or loyalty is lost." Apollo was glad to be explaining it, that was something he was good at.

"Did you just compare me to Aphrodite?"

Apollo laughed, "Maybe I did."

Percy grinned. His usual lop sided grin gracing his handsome features. Did he get better looking? Apollo thought, not finding himself able to stop staring.

He watched as the younger god got flustered when he noticed him staring. Thankfully Apollo didn't blush but he was sure that if he was still in the body of Lester Papadopoulos he would be greatly resembling a tomato.

Unfortunately instead of being able to continue to watch the adorable visage of the flustered son of Posiedon, he remembered one important detail that he would have to share with him.

Apollo tore his eyes away from the young god.

"Theres a small piece of information that I need to tell you," Apollo started. Beginning to fidget with his hands.

"I know."

Apollo's head shot up, "What?"

"I can't go back to camp, thats what Dad said anyway. Guess I can't see Mom anymore either then," Percy muttered, staring down at his lap.

Apollo nodded and put his hand on Percy's thigh. "You can still see them."

"I can?"

Percy had sounded so hopeful, it broke Apollo's heart. Immortality is always hard when mortals are just turned. But usually they choose the immortal life, willing to leave their old life behind. To outlive everyone they know, unless it was a fellow immortal.

"You just need to be able to control your true form first," Apollo said as soothingly as he could. To be completely truthful (something he tried to go by to set an example as the god of truth) he had no idea what he was saying, even less of an idea if it was helping. "After that you'll be able to go into the mortal world as much as you want."

Apollo hoped he had raised the other gods spirits, but his hopes were quickly destroyed.

"I'm going to outlive everyone," Percy said depressingly. "How can I deal with that?"

Apollo was at a loss for words (for once). "I uh... I ummm uh." Apollo swallowed, he was going to have to say someyhing completely horrible. Terrifying. A cause for panic. "I don't know."

He was tempted to throw in an apology but that would be going way too far.

Percy sighed, "Oh of course you don't."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"How am I supposed to watch everyone die?! Mom, Paul, Estelle, Grover, Annabeth, Nico. They're all going to die and I'm just going to still be here, a god." When he had started talking his voice was slightly angry but when he finished he just sounded bitter.

Apollo sat on the bed beside him, looking the ex-demigod in the eye. "Don't think about that. Don't think about the future, don't think about death." Apollo's voice was so stern he had startled himself for a second, he softened when Percy widened his eyes. "Anyway you'll still have Uncle P, Triton and you'll have me. Also don't you have that cyclops brother? He'll always be around."

The door burst open, Hermes strolled through completely ignoring the scene in front of him. "Hello my darling brother would you like to cause some drama?" The messenger god finished with jazz hands.

"No Hermes piss off, we're having a moment," Apollo snapped. Altough he was in the mood for some drama.

"Ah yes my dearest brother. I shall leave you to your date." Hermes finally registered the scene in front of him. He eyes became frying pans. "Golly gods up above in Zeus' ass."

Apollo saw Percy's jaw drop out of the side of his eye.

There was a strong push on his arm and Apollo went flying to the floor.

"Perseus Jackson are you sleeping with my brother?" Hermes asked.

Apollo lifted his head and saw Hermes sitting across from Percy, filling Apollo's recently vacated seat, holding the newly turned gods face with both his hands. Hermes has his face only centimetres from the loyalty god's own face.

"Its Percy," he said automatically.

Apollo couldn't hide his grin, deciding to ignore the question Hermes had just asked.

"Leave us alone Hermes," Apollo said, pushing his brother off the bed and reclaiming his seat.

The messenger god jumped to his feet, "AHA! So you are sleeping together!"

Percy made a strangled noise and when Apollo glanced at him he was bright red.

"Thats the first I've heard of it," Aphrodite said appearing in a puff of flowered scented air.

"HERA'S ANUS!" Apollo fell off the bed again, this time he jumped off himself.

"Why are you cursing Hera's anus?" Percy asked while Hermes cracked up in the corner.

Apollo grinned sheepishly up at the blushing god, "I don't know."

Meanwhile, Aphrodite was shepherding a laughing Hermes out the door. The door slammed behind them.

Silence fell across the two.

Percy was still blushing. Apollo was still on the floor.

"Why Hera's anus though?" Percy questioned.

Apollo stood up and sat back on the bed beside Percy, who was now sitting with his legs crossed (criss cross apple sauce, to be exact). "I really don't know, it just slipped out."

Percy must have thought of something because he just reached an even brighter face colour.

"What are you thinking about?" Apollo was curious, any other time he had seen the boy he was always reserved. Never seeming to show any weakness.

"Nothing," Percy responded, his voice an octave higher than usual.

Apollo raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure?"

"Mmm, yes, yes. I am very sure that I am totally thinking of nothing."

"I'm the god of truth, I know you are lying Perseus."

"Its Percy."

"Alright Perrrrcy," Apollo rolled the 'r' in Percy's name and he watched as the son of Posiedon blushed even more. "What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing, not a thing, nada."

He looked away, not meeting Apollo's eyes, staring instead at his lap.

"Come on Starfish, tell me."

"Not a chance Sunshine."

"Why not? Were you thinking of me?"

"No," Percy said, his voice cracking.

Apollo smirked, not needing to be the god to truth to tell he was lying. It was written all over his face.

"So you were thinking about me."

"Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't."

"Oh you definitely were."

"Why does it matter?"

Apollo mused, "Well it doesn't but I'm curious. You were thinking about me, while blushing a lot. So what were you thinking about that involved me?"

Percy made a strangled noise.

Apollo's grin widened, "Why why Percy. Quite red there aren't you?"

Percy didn't answer. He just kept staring at his lap, leaving Apollo alone with his thoughts.

Apollo didn't care what Percy was thinking about. He cared about Percy's wellbeing. He knew and now so did Percy, that the newly turned god would have to stay on Olympus or under the sea. If he could get Percy to consider him a friend, then the transition would be far easier for him.

Apollo just cared about Percy.

He didn't understand it, but he wanted the son of Posiedon to be happy.
