Chapter Five

"Percy, open your eyes," Feathers sang.

This had been going on now for nearly 30 minutes, Percy was sure of it.

"PERSEUS!"

Percy's eyes snapped open as he yelped. He was met with the vision of a laughing Triton and Feathers. After finding out that Feathers was actually called Anteros and also happened to be his brother, the other two gods were unbearable. They found it incredibly funny that Percy's eyes had started changing colours when he experienced different emotions. For some reason they liked when he was startled the most. Even though they wouldn't tell him what colour they had changed too.

Before he had started laughing, Triton explained that since gods could change their appearance at will it also applied to him. Until he learned to control it, it would change according to his emotions.

Percy hoped it stayed in his eyes, he liked his hair colour and didn't particularly want to wake up as an alpaca or a starfish for that matter.

Triton and Anteros had started laughing before they explained that much to him.

His brothers were mean.

Why were the gods mean?

Apollo isn't mean, said his brain.

Not now, Percy replied.

"Ah Percy, you're here. I assume Triton has explained to you what he'll be teaching you," said Poseidon, ducking under the archway of the door.

"No he didn't," Percy said, pushing Anteros away from him. "They're just bullying me."

Anteros just sat down beside him instead and threw one tail across his lap. "Relax Starfish, its cute. All gods would agree."

"What?" Poseidon said. Stopping in confusion.

Triton swam over to Percy's other side and grabbed his brothers chin, forcing him to look at their father. "Look! His eyes keep changing!"

Poseidon gave Triton a tired look and turned around to swim back out of the room. Just before he left he turned around and looked at Percy, ignoring his other two sons. "Kymopoleia will be here shortly to show you how to cause storms." His eyes flickered to the laughing form of Anteros. "She'll also teach you how to get rid of those two probably. That is if she doesn't join them."

Percy paled and sadly watched his saviour swim out of sight.

Triton made Percy face him, "Blues will definitely join us." The god of the tides grinned manically.

Oh no, Percy's conscious said.

The loyalty god found himself agreeing with his consciousness for what could be the first time ever.

This would not be good.

* * *

Apollo was going mental.

Actually mental. More so than usual for a god.

He didn't want to leave Percy, but he did have his duties to do as the sun god. He made a promise to Helios, a promise he planned to keep. Also while he had been turned mortal, he had felt guilty every day that he did not drive the sun. He had to play his part in all of this. The part he had to play.

Thanks Fates, really appreciate it, Apollo thought. Hopefully they wouldn't hear it and turn him mortal.

He'd had enough of that for his entire immortal lifetime.

Enough suffering had been caused last time he was turned mortal. He didn't want to cause anymore. He was the god of healing for gods sake. He hated whenever a life was lost. Especially when he was mortal, knowing that if he was a god then that he could have saved them.

Gods aren't supposed to have nightmares.

Gods aren't supposed to feel guilt.

Gods aren't supposed to feel anything really.

They are just there.

Thats the sad truth to it all. Sometimes the truth sucked. It was things like this that made Apollo understand why mortals lied so much. Imagining a better life, lying to those around them and to themselves to make everything easier. To forget about the truth, the cold harsh truth.

Gods only feel emotion because mortals imagine that they do. Their entire personalities are sculpted by what mortals think of them.

It was exhausting.

One day Apollo could be an egotistical jerk who uses the arguement that the sun revolved around him. Then the next he's simping over a random tree or flower.

It is very confusing.

Usually he can control it. Especially nowadays that the demigods have met the gods and don't create new personalities for them.

One thing that he couldn't control was his worry for the ex-demigod in his temple. That son of Posiedon got in more trouble than Ares during puberty.

I should check on him, Apollo decided. Fully pinning the concern on the fact that he had just been pancaked by a building.

He didn't care for the guy.

At least he didn't think so.

Then again he did annoy Aphrodite a while back. He wouldn't put it past her nor Eros to do something like that.

Out of all the gods they are the most annoying. The most to trick you into doing something you'd regret.

Yup, I should check on him. Just get autopilot on first, Apollo mentally said to himself.

Once he was sure that autopilot was on and the sun chariot wouldn't crash into a lake again (long story) he flashed away to his bedroom. The room he had left Percy in.

He was expecting the loyalty god to be there as when Apollo had left he seemed pretty tired. So Apollo was expecting to have the wonderful visage of a sleeping Perseus.

Wait what? No, bad brain, Apollo chided himself. He didn't care for the man.

He didn't care about his tanned face or troublemaker smirk. He didn't care about the way his hair fell down in front of his eyes. He didn't care for the way he laughed or spoke quickly. He didn't care for the way he smiled-

No, stop thinking Apollo.

Apollo (unfortunately) did not get to see a sleeping Perseus on his bed. Instead there was a note lying on his bed instead and the unmistakable scent of the sea filling the air.

Apollo lifted the note and got a strong whiff of the sea around Delos on a calm day.

"Why why Apollo, why are you looking so lost?"

"Hades' haunted bunny slippers! Stop sneaking up on me," Apollo snapped.

The white haired god grinned, "But your face is always worth it."

Apollo couldn't help himself, "My face is always worth it to look at."

"I have to agree with you there, but I'd put many drachmas on it that a certain someone may or may not get jealous if I outright said that," the god replied smoothly. Making no sense as per usual.

The love god hopped onto the desk Apollo had against one wall. His pure white hair fell down in front of his blood red eyes, reminding Apollo of a green-eyed god. Eros' feathered wings the same colour as his hair were held loosely around him. Not taking up too much space but still allowing him to sit comfortably upon the wooden desk. His arms were behind him, hands rested on the desktop and his legs swaying back and forth.

"Why are you here Eros?" Apollo asked, he didn't want to have to endure the god's riddles. Sure Apollo was the god of 'death poems' but that didn't mean he liked riddles!

"Can I just not pop in to see an old friend?"

"We're both thousands of years old, everyone on Olympus is your old friend. We're all old up here."

"Not the god you're thinking about." The god of love winked at him. "What age is he now? 24? 25?"

"Percy is 25," Apollo said shortly. Reminded of the loyalty god yet again.

"I didn't say a name," Eros said as he ran a hand through his hair.

Apollo watched his gesture, thinking about how Percy had done the exact same thing before his words registered within his mind.

"Wait no I wasn't thinking about him, just whenever you mentioned the age was when I thought about him. I definitely wasn't thinking about him before even though in here smells like him which is totally something I am only noticing now." Apollo knew he was rambling by now, he hoped Eros bought it although that was unlikely. That god made almost a better god of truth than Apollo did. Almost.

Eros looked disappointed in him. "Old friend, I know you are the god of truth but surely you can lie better than that."

Apollo ducked his head.

"But," Eros continued. "I do know where he is and I'll be going there with you. I need to drag someone back to work."

Apollo slowly looked up, accepting that the love god wasn't going to leave him alone. "Where is he?"

Eros rolled his eyes, "You have a note in your hand." He gestured with a perfectly manicured hand. "Read it and you tell me."

Apollo maturely stuck his tongue out at the god before looking down at the forgotten note held in his hand. He unfolded the paper and read the looped writing.

Hey Apollo, I'm stealing my brother for a few hours. Don't worry, I'll have him back by four, don't think I can bare to listen to him for longer than that.
Triton,
You'll know where to find us if you want him back.
I mean Dad's palace incase you left your half a braincell behind somewhere.

Apollo glanced at the clock. It was 20 minutes past four.

"Hmm Triton's running late then," said Eros from Apollo's shoulder.

"POSEIDON'S LEAKING BRAIN, STOP DOING THAT!"

Eros raised an eyebrow at him. "So are we going or not?"

Apollo grumbled and grabbed Ero's forearm and flashed them to Poseidon's underwater palace.

As soon as they solidified something immediately bumped into Eros.

Apollo recognised the black hair of the merman that swam into Eros. The merman is question lifted one hand and waved it behind Eros' back, hitting it against his wings.

"Piss off Feathers," Percy grumbled, not moving from where he had his head against Eros' chest.

Wait, Feathers?

Apollo couldn't help but laugh at the offended look on Eros' face.

Percy lifted his head from Eros' chest and when he saw Apollo his eyes flashed red, the same colour as Eros', as a huge smile came across his face.

"Apollo!" Percy swam over to him, but instead of hugging him as Apollo expected, the loyalty god hid behind him instead. "My sunny saviour, do something to make them go away!"

Apollo froze as the ex-demigod put both his arms around his neck, leaning against his back. "What?"

"Save me from them," Perseus hissed.

Apollo still wasn't thinking right because Percy had just wrapped one of his tails fully around Apollo's leg. "Who?"

Hold on a second, Percy has tails? Is he a merman now or something?

Percy rested his chin on Apollo's shoulder and turned his head so that he could see three laughing figures. A man that could be Percy's twin except he had wings sprouting from his back. A black haired goddess with icey blue eyes, and a merman with flowing blue hair.

"My incredibly annoying siblings."

Percy's maybe the twin flashed the three gods a toothy grin. "Aww Bubbles you know you love us."

Bubbles?

"Shut it Feathers."

Oh so that's who Feathers is.

"I don't think I will, oh hi Eros," said Feathers swimming closer. "Wait Eros?" Feathers paled and swam back and hid behind the merman who looked extremely amused.

The black haired goddess openly laughed.

Apollo could see the resemblance between them all, and since Feathers looked the exact same as Percy, Apollo decided that these must be Percy's siblings.

Only now did Apollo notice that Feathers had twin tails as well instead of legs. The goddess also had a tail, but only one.

"Aww Anteros are you scared of this itsy bitsy love god?" taunted the goddess as she swam over the Eros and put one arm around his shoulders.

So Feathers is Anteros then.

The blue haired merman now held Anteros on his back, similar the the way Percy was leeched to Apollo's own back.

"Leave him alone Blues, also Apollo I thought I said I'd give my brother back at four. Surely you didn't miss him that much," said the merman. Apollo thought that he must be Triton.

"Why do you still call me that, Tri?" said Blues.

'Tri' stuck his tongue out at Blues before telling Anteros to get off his back.

Eros pushed Blues arm off his shoulder and swam over to Triton and Anteros. Eros tapped Triton on the shoulder and Triton spun around so Eros could pluck Anteros off his brothers back. Eros swam back over to Apollo with Anteros in his arms bridal style.

Anteros didn't have a problem with it, he just gave Triton a dirty look for making him go back to work.

Eros whispered in Apollo's ear before flashing away and Apollo was glad that he was a god and could usually control when he blushes. It also helped that he was a god that constantly god teased about his love life. One thing was for sure, Eros definitely had a very very dirty mind.

Blues and Triton swam over to Percy and Apollo, circling around them both.

Percy groaned and buried his head against Apollo's neck.

Apollo chuckled, "Alright Perce, lets go home."
