Chapter Eighteen

7k reads. Wow thank you all so much :)

Apollo was sitting on his bed reading a book while Percy slept with his head in Apollo's lap. Before Percy had fallen asleep Apollo was reading aloud for him.

Just simply looking down at Percy was enough to fill Apollo with happiness. Just watching the rise and fall of his chest.

Percy had been sleeping a lot since becoming a god. Gods don't sleep. However Apollo thought that it might just be the extensive training that Triton was making him do to master his abilities as quickly as possible.

It was a big jump. From being an exceptionally powerful son of Poseidon to being an extremely powerful god. The stark contrast between his powers is like a candle to a forest fire.

Before he had been turned, Percy was on the edge on god-level power. On the very verge of tipping into unimaginable strength. But he didn't. He held himself back, not being tempted by the power that he could've had. Not being tempted to jump into the deep end, where return isn't certain.

Apollo admired the ex-demigod for that. Admired him for staying true to himself and his friends.

Without thinking Apollo ran a hand through Percy's hair, his book forgotten (after putting a leaf in to mark the page of course).

Percy lazily opened opened his eyes, "Hey sunshine."

"Hi love."

"Do you want to watch a movie or something?"

"Yeah what one?"

"Finding Nemo?"

Apollo smiled down at him, "Yeah, or do you want to go on a walk first?"

Percy hummed, "Where to?"

"Just around Olympus, have you ever heard of the garden of Pan?"

"No I haven't actually, but I think Triton or Eros mentioned it once."

Apollo laughed, "Were you not listening to them?"

Percy grinned and sat up straight, "Not at all."

Apollo matched his grin, "Lets go then."

Apollo offered Percy his hand before flashing them both to the garden of Pan.

At first glance it looked extremely messy, but if you cared to look again you would see the beauty of the place. The trees arching over, sealing the inhabitants away from the outside world. Away from the noise and chatter of Olympus. The bushes that bloomed with flowers of all colours along a root ridden path. A broken cupid fountain that had been claimed by nature. Flowers bloomed from the eyes and vines twisted along the stone bow. At either side of the fountain there was a satyr statue playing the pipes. Nature had also taken over these two statues. Brightly coloured flowers bloomed along the pipes and a tree had encased half of one of the statues.

Athena hadn't designed this. It was all just Pan. He had known thousands of years ago that one day that the wild spots of nature would dwindle in numbers. So he had requested that he could have part of Olympus for a garden. This had of course be granted and Pan had set to work. He had planted seeds of all types all over the place in his garden. Much to Athena's displeasure, it wasn't organised. No set amount of seeds. They weren't evenly placed, they were scattered.

This was the one true wild spot left, and barely anyone knew about it. Not even half the gods on Olympus knew about it. It would stay that way. The way Pan wanted it to stay. To stay pure. Only those that would respect the garden and not try to change it were allowed in. It was part of the garden's magic. No one could override it, not even the Olympians.

Apollo was overjoyed that Percy had appeared beside him in the garden. Staring at the place in awe. Apollo knew that Percy wouldn't try to change the place, but it was still a nice surprise.

For example one god not allowed here is Dionysus because for some reason he had a party the last time he walked in. Totally unexpected and not on purpose.

Athena also isn't allowed in because she tried to take out a few weeds and then she just got punted out. Unfortunately it was not caught on video. Correction it was caught on video be Athena destroyed all the evidence.

Anyway back to the story.

Apollo watched Percy's reaction with a soft smile.

Percy turned around, "You're staring again."

"I know."

Percy froze for a moment, staring at Apollo.

Apollo grinned, "You're staring again."

"Hey thats my line."

"Oh no, so sad."

"Very sad," Percy agreed with a straight face. "Betrayal."

"Can I make it up to you?"

"Never!"

Apollo knelt down and picked a blue flower, holding it up in offering to Percy while still on one knee. "How about now?"

Percy hummed and took the flower out of Apollo's hand. Twisting the stem between his finger and thumb.

Percy looked like the god he was always destined to be. His eyes were their old sea green, glowing faintly with power. His hair was blowing to the side in the breeze that danced across Olympus. Looking up at him Apollo could easily imagine that he was a mortal kneeling at the feet of Perseus.

"Maybe," Percy said still with a straight face, however it was obvious that he was fighting a smile. The corners of his mouth twitching slightly.

Apollo picked another flower and offered it to the god in front of him, "How about now?"

Percy looked down at him, "I might consider forgiveness."

Apollo grinned and stood up straight, "I can live with that."

Percy nodded to him then gestured at the path, "Shall we?"

Apollo smiled and offered the loyalty god his hand.

Percy tucked one flower behind his ear then did the same to Apollo with the other one before holding his hand.

They walked along in silence. Enjoying the scenery, or in Apollo's case, enjoying watching Percy's reactions to the place.

When they reached where the path split into two Apollo led Percy down the path that would go to a spot in the garden that is even more secluded than the rest of it. A quiet spot.

Apollo hadn't even noticed when they had reached it, not even when they had stopped. He had just kept watching everything Percy did.

"You're staring again," Percy said softly.

Apollo just smiled and unlaced their fingers. Before offering Percy his hand once again.

"Can I have this dance?"

Percy put his cold hand in Apollo's warm one, "Yes you can."

Apollo pulled Percy close to himself and started leading a waltz.

Neither of them payed attention to the moves they were doing. Choosing instead to stare into eachothers eyes. They didn't pay attention when Apollo dipped Percy down, now when Percy spun Apollo around.

After a few beats Apollo couldn't take it anymore.

He closed the gap between them.

Pressing his lips to Percys. Percy kissed back. It was closed mouth yet it showed all the love they felt for each other. Apollo lifted one hand up to cup Percys cheek.

When they pulled apart they touched their foreheads together. Not saying anything, not even opening their eyes. Just enjoying being in each others presence.

Apollo broke the silence between them, "I have a question for you."

"What question would that be?"

Apollo pulled away from Percy. Peeling their arms apart. Stepping back, before he got down on one knee.

"I know I already asked this but I did have it all planned out but when I asked it just slipped out. I had imagined throwing a big party then proposing in front of everyone. Then I realised that might be seen as weird and I would rather do something more private and this place came to mind. So Perseus Jackson would you do me the honour of being able to call you my husband?" Apollo said, holding up a small box with a ring in it.

He had asked Hepheatus if he could make him one, if Apollo ignored all the smirks that his younger brother had sent his way then it had gone quite well.

It had a silver band with an emerald set in an outline of the sun. It wasn't over the top like some gods would like a ring to be and Apollo hoped to Hera's cow fields that Percy liked it.

Percy just stared down at Apollo and the ring for what seemed like years but was merely seconds.

"Yes," Percy said finally. "Yes of course."

Apollo smiled and slipped the ring onto Percy's finger before standing back up and kissing his fiancé on the lips.

Percy laughed into the kiss and Apollo found himself laughing as well.

BANG!

Both the gods jumped and pulled out their weapons. Spinning towards the source of the noise.

They saw Artemis and Hermes standing there with a canon. Glitter raining down around their heads. They both had idiotic grins on their faces and Hermes was holding up his phone.

Artemis made the canon go off again, shooting glitter into the faces of the couple.

Click! Hermes took a picture of them stepping back because of the glitter.

"Finally," Artemis said, grinning for an unusual amount of time. "Apollo I call being your maid of honour."

"Hey I said I was the best man!" Hermes protested.

Artemis spun around and sank her fist into Hermes' face.

Hermes staggered back, holding his broken nose, "Alright alright you can have it."

Apollo begrudgingly left Percy's side to go and heal his brothers nose.

Artemis walked over to Percy and put her arm around his shoulders (still grinning mind you) and grabbed his hand, inspecting the ring.

Apollo couldn't help but smile at the grin that came over his face, this was his family. The annoying sister that neither would admit that they actually loved each other. The high brother that is a certified dumbass. Then his better half, the one Apollo had been searching for for millenia.

Life couldn't be better.

Well it could if Zeus fell off a cliff but we can't have everything we want.

Apollo was happy with the way things were now, he didn't want them to change.
