The burning buildings and the smell of fire in the air as debris crackled. The sky was blackened out by smoke, and the sun wasn't visible at all. Civilians fleed from their homes, trying to escape from the burning fires, but they only met one thing in the end. Death.

This, is Makai.

Nothing but fire, debris and corpses remained after the grueling fight between the Hakurei Shrine Maiden and The Goddess of Makai, Shinki. Shinki had used all her power against the shrine maiden, yet still lost. She had destroyed Makai, leaving it in a state burning hell. Smoke was in the air and poisoned the once pure air.

A girl, as small as a five year old, ran through the burning Fires of Makai. Her short, beautifully soft blonde hair flew by as she ran through the cities of Makai. She didn't know what to do. The girl stumbled and tripped over her own feet multiple times, but she kept going. She had to escape. She had to escape this hell, known as Makai. The girl held a book, a mysterious and dangerously powerful book. "Grimoire", it had in huge letters on the cover.

Finally, the girl stropped running. Her breath was shaky, and she looked up at a figure in the sky. The fires grew more powerful, and surrounded the figure.

"Alice. My daughter, what are you doing here?"

It was Shinki, the destroyer of this world.

Alice's teary-eyes looked up at her mother, no, her creator and gasped. Alice did not want to see her. Alice saw Shinki as a evil monster.

Shinki stood on the ground, looking down at Alice. She smiled, and said, "Alice, dear, come with me. We can't be here any longer, or else we'll get burned." Shinki reached out to grab Alice's hand, but she slapped it away.

"No. I'm not going with you! You're not even my mother! You just created me as a guard for you. I don't wish to be with you anylonger!" Alice screamed at Shinki. Her tears flowed down her cheeks as she spoke in a shaky, but loud voice, "You destroyed this place, all because of some stupid fight! You...You're a monster!"

Shinki looked down at Alice, her eyes glowing red. "...I will give you once last chance." She said as she grabbed Alice's arm and held onto it, digging her nails into it. "You come with me, or I won't hesitate to kill you." She said in furious anger. In all her life, she wouldn't think that her creation, no, "daughter" would disrespect her in such a way.

Alice screamed in pain, telling Shinki to let go. She dropped her Grimoire, and tried to pull Shinki's arm off of her. It wouldn't budge.

Shinki let go of Alice, but as soon as Alice got up, Shinki yelled, "Stop! Don't you dare move or I'll destroy you along with Makai." Shinki was furious now. She picked up the book, and looked at it. "Alice, what is this?" Shinki said in a soft and eerie tone. Alice didn't speak a word, and she kept her small mouth shut.

"...Very well, you asked for it." Shinki then  grasped the book firmly in her hand, and it made a small explosion. A few pages remained, but they scattered in the wind. Alice, gasped and cried even more. She didn't want to deal with her mother and her evil plots anymore. Alice then saw one of the burnt pages from her Grimoire  land behind her. She didn't turn to look at it, she instead looked at Shinki fearfully.
Alice stood up, and walked with Shinki back home. "Good girl, that's what a daughter is supposed to do." Shinki said as she walked a little ahead of Alice, overlooking the mass destructed that she has caused.

Before they left that city, Alice ran back while Shinki wasn't looking, and searched for the missing pages to her Grimoire. She found five pages, three of which were basic and simple spells. Two of them were creating and destroying spells. They were extremely powerful, and can destroy or create another universe.

She then heard her creator, Shinki run back to the burning city, enraged. Alice ran, and hid behind a burning building. She quickly looked over how to recite the destruction spell, so she could use it on Shinki. Parts of the page were burnt, but she could still make out what it was.

Shinki then turned to look behind the building where Alice hid, and had found her.

Alice stood up, holding the five pages, and recited the destruction spell.

That's when it all went black.

Alice had not recited the spell correctly due to the burnt parts of the page covering some words. Yes, Shinki was destroyed, but due to the fact that she didn't recite it right...

Makai was destroyed too.

Alice looked around, but just found blankness. There was nothing, literally. Nothing but her, and the five pages she had in her arm.

She looked at the pages, and saw the creation spell. She thought about creating a new world, or going to the real world. Alice knew it would be a hard time getting used to the outside world, but she thought about creating a new world. A new world, with new friends.

She would be in control of it all.

Alice then threw the other four pages down, and they dissolved into nothingness. She then looked over the creation spell, reading it. It wasn't as burnt as the destruction spell, so she could understand it perfectly.

Alice then vowed to herself to never, ever, become like her wicked "creator" Shinki. In fact, she vowed to not let anyone know she was creator of this world.

She would make a land of paradise. A land of dreams.

A Land of Fantasy

Alice then recited the creation spell, loudly and clearly, and the white void around her became a beautiful land of trees and mountains.

Alice looked around, her eyes looking at this sight in wonder.

"It's like a dream" She said to herself. She wondered what to name this beautiful, never ending vast of land.

After many thoughts, Alice finally decided on one name. A name, that was full of fantasy, a beautiful name.

"Gensokyo."

Author's Notes: yes, this is my own head cannon that alice is the creator of gensokyo. I mean, that grimoire in MS must be very powerful. Ya never know what could be in there. This isn't such a romantic one shot, I apologize. uwu
