Heavy Periods (reader request)
Ah, yes.
Those poor people who have really heavy/long periods.
I am so sorry for you guys...
Never fear, I have help for you! Here's a list of tips I've compiled to aid you during Shark Week:
- Don't be scared to buy/use overnight pads/tampons during the day
- Consider going on birth control
- STAY HYDRATED, YOU'LL FEEL BETTER
- MAKE SURE YOU GET ENOUGH IRON (heavy period = more iron loss = possible anemia)
- Maybe use menstrual cups instead of pads/tampons (like a tampon-cup made of soft plastic; holds more than pads/tampons; perfectly safe)
- Log your period's frequency and heaviness
- KEEP YOUR SUPPLY-BAG WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES
And above all...
Go see a doctor if you period lasts ridiculously long, you show symptoms of anemia, your period becomes and then stays erratic, or your flow is way too heavy.
