The Healers called her a lost cause, the people called her art.
Tinuviel had been in a coma for four months, lying upon a stone bench for Aragorn to come and see outside.
Four months were enough for Legolas and Y/N to strengthen their friendship until it blossomed into something more - a beautiful relationship between the pair. It soon became more common to see Legolas, Y/N and Gimli all causing trouble together than just Legolas and Gimli.
It was on this day, three months into their relationship, that Legolas couldn't take it anymore.
He sent a letter to his father in Mirkwood, asking if he could marry the Y/R of his dreams. As soon as the letter was sent, he left on a "urgent business trip" back to Mirkwood.
The elf changed course close to the forest and rode to the magnificent Erebor, home of Dís, Queen under the Mountain. Being a wise Queen, Dís had repaired the relationship with Mirkwood that her brother had jeopardised, which meant Legolas wouldn't be killed on sight when he approached the towering entrance to the halls.
'State your intentions.'
'I am Prince Legolas of the Woodland Realm. I come on urgent business and must speak with Queen Dís of Carven Stone immediately.' Legolas introduced himself.
The guards let him pass and the elf wasted no time in finding his way to the Throne Room where the Queen of Carven Stone sat in all her regality.
'My Lady, I rode from Gondor to request a favour of you.'
'And what would you ask of me, Legolas?' Dís asked fondly.
'I wish to propose to the woman I love and treat her like the goddess she is. She deserves the best, so I've come to ask if you'll return to the fires one last time and forge both engagement and wedding rings for me.'
Dís' eyes twinkled as she gazed down at the kneeling Woodland Prince. The sincerity he held in his words showed her he was being truthful and that he was certain about his proposal.
'Very well,' Spoke the Queen Under the Mountain. 'I shall take up the hammer and anvil one last time.'

Y/N ran through the streets of Minas Tirith to meet Legolas as he arrived. She caught him as he exited the stables, leaping into his arms in happiness.
The Elf Prince could wait no longer.
As he gazed at his beloved, her H/L H/C hair catching the sunlight that also made her E/C eyes shine and her smile brighter, he found the urge to propose right then and there.
'Y/N, my beloved rose in a bouquet of daisies, I have never loved anything in my life as much as I have loved you these past months. Were it not for you and Gimli, I would have sailed for the Undying Lands long ago, but now I wish not for the White Shotes alone, I wish to see them with you and live forever in peace. I love you, so will you accept my hand in marriage?'
The Y/R was speechless for a moment before managing to choke out the proper reply.
'I accept your hand in marriage, Legolas Thranduilion of the Woodland Realm.'
Legolas produced the gorgeous engagement ring made by the benevolent Queen Dís' own hands and slipped it into Y/N's finger.
Arwen, who had decided to stay in Middle Earth as advisor to the new King (though almost everyone knew she was really just trying to make him fall in love with her), was all over the newly engaged couple and helped them organise everything, helping with the wedding date - F/S because it was Y/N's favourite season. The couple had two months of preparations to make before their big day, and the first on the list was a magnificent engagement celebration thrown by King Aragorn himself.
The King was happy for the couple - they were his friends and allies finally to be united in marriage. He secretly wished a certain blond elleth could be with him to celebrate the engagement of their best friends.

ALRIGHT PICTURE TIME
I had charlenexchan_ go through pictures of dresses for your engagement based off what season you have your wedding in. Here are your engagement ball gowns based off the seasons - tell me what you think!

I know some of you will be doing this and have short hair, but the most LOTR-ish hairstyles go with long hair. charlenexchan_ also had to go through these and choose for me.

The night of the ball rolled around a month before the wedding, invitations having gone out almost the day after Legolas proposed to Y/N.
Many of the guests would be staying in the palace for a month in wait for the wedding because they had come so far.
Queen Dís, Lady Galadriel, Lord Celeborn, Lord Elrond, Lord Elladan, Lord Elrohir, Lord Glorfindel, King Thranduil, Tauriel, King Eómer, Lord Faramir, Lady Eówyn, King Aragorn, Lady Arwen, Sam, Frodo, Merry, Pippin, Lord Gimli, Gloin, Dwalin, Rosie, Bilbo, Gandalf, Radagast, Feren, Rumil, Orophin, Lord Boromir [I forgot he lived in this], Queen Sigrid, Princess Tilda, Prince Bain and Lady Tinuviel were on the invite list, alongside anyone they wanted to bring and most of the population of Minas Tirith.
Legolas had his breath taken away as Y/N arrived, her engagement ring glittering on her left hand. Her dress, created by the most skilled seamstresses Arwen could conjure, fitted the season she had chosen for their wedding, the torchlight bathing it and bringing out all of the different shades in the fabric.
Y/N smiled sadly at him - they had both been hoping against all hope that Tinuviel would miraculously wake up and be there for their engagement party, as they knew she would have gone to the ends of the earth to celebrate the union of her best friend to the one she loved.
A lively waltz played by one of the many different musical groups flowed from the raised area where an Elvish string quartet commanded attention, drawing many couples to the dance floor.
Queen Sigrid could be seen dancing with her younger brother, Prince Bain. The Queen of Dale was getting on in her years - she must be something near fifty but still moved with the grace she had as a young woman in Laketown.
The elderly Gloin and Dwalin stood grumpily in a corner - the pair of them did everything grumpily as the rest of Thorin Oakenshield's company had not been invited or was dead (the latter more the case).
Lady Galadriel danced with Gimli while her husband spoke with Frodo over at a table, Samwise Gamgee leading his sweetheart Rosie around the room, her adorable hobbit dress swishing around her ankles as they moved through the crowd.
Y/N watched fondly as Princess Tilda led Pippin onto the dance floor, the hobbit looking mildly frightened until the tall Princess commanded him to stand on her feet.
Y/N and Legolas took it in turns to hopefully look over each other's shoulders while dancing to see if Tinuviel or Aragorn had shown yet.
Faramir and Eowyn danced over, the Lord of Gondor idly asking what had the couple looking so unhappy at a wondrous celebration.
'Lady Tinuviel hasn't shown tonight - we'd hoped she might break her sleep today but we seem unlucky.'
As the words left Legolas' lips, the doors to the throne room opened.
