3rd person POV

selene woke up the next day and walked downstairs to be met with her mom sitting there with a dcs worker

"selene you're finally awake" she said and selene made eye contact with the worker

"i am , what is this about?" they asked and their mother sighed

"probation, have you been skipping out?" she questioned and selene shook their head

"no i haven't even gotten a text or anything but this is about something else isn't it?" they questioned

"someone saw the fight in the police parking lot and wanted to talk to you about it. everything is okay isn't it?" she asked and selene shrugged

"yeah yup everything is fine, i'm alright, everything is alright. i live with a therapist and a navy father who is never around. i'm alright" they said and their mother sighed

"i have to go to training , i'll be back later, i'm taking beetle" they spoke and beetle sat up as they looked both of them

"beetle?" the worker asked

"this is beetle, i'll be back later mom" they stated and they got beetles stuff as they walked upstairs and changed. they left through the balcony and drove to the place as they walked in and looked at the others

"selene you're late" johnny called and beetle barked

"dcs worker held me up but im here now" they spoke and they let beetle off of his leash

"why is there a dog here?" the new girl asked and selene smiled

"this is beetle, he comes with me to training everyday. and you are?" they asked

"devon" she said and selene smiled

"thank god there's another girl is was starting to smell like testosterone and B.O" they said and devon laughed under her breathe as selene walked over and stood next to the others

" listen up, nerds. Today's gonna be a world of pain. now everyone fall in, we have a new member joining us today. this is devon lee, our new female champion behind selene" johnny introduced and selene smiled

"hi. my pronouns are she/her" devon said

" Only pronouns we except in the dojo are sensei and student" johnny said and selena smacked their forehead

"at least he's still a himbo" selene said to miguel and he laughed with them

"those are nouns" devon said

"oh, i'm sorry" johnny exclaimed sarcastically

"i think what i mean to say is quiet!" he yelled and devon flinched

"that's an imperative" she stated softly and selene smiled again

"get in line" he said to her and she walked over as she stood next to selene and they all watched johnny as he paced the length in front of them

"todays lesson is about cheating. at eagle fang karate, we don't believe in fighting dirty. cobra kai doesn't follow the same rules. so we have to be ready for any dirty trick they throw at us" johnny stated and devon spoke up

"like when chong li threw dirt into van dammes eyes in blood sport" she said and selene smirked

"i like this one" selene said

"me too. looks like someone did their prep work" johnny stated proudly

" And I saw this equals too. Not to mention delta force, Billy Jack, the octagon, and lady dragon. Cynthia Rothrock is a beast" devon stated and selene smirked again

"hell yeah she is" johnny agreed

"i saw last dragon" mitch exclaimed

"shut the hell up , penis breathe! everyone, get ready cause today i'm going to put you through the wringer expect for you diaz, you're up here with me" johnny explained and val made eye contact with miguel

"what?" miguel asked

" The tournaments right around the corner. Can't afford you getting hurt. It's gonna be a little dangerous. You be co-sensei today. Sound good? okay everybody. get ready! let's begin" he said and they started to practice as beetle barked and watched devon fight bert

"jesus she's like a little you sel" johnny said and selene smiled

"a little devil? i like her already" selene smirked and johnny lined the boys up as he had selene kick them in the balls and selene smiled

"that was oddly fun" selene said and johnny smirked as devon smiled too

"they are wearing cups right?" johnny asked and selene shook their head

"definitely not" selene stated and johnny seethed under his breathe as he sighed and selene walked over as they helped them up and sighed

"i'll get the ice" they said and they walked to the freezer as beetle followed and they grabbed the ice. they walked over and handed it the boys as they iced themselves.

"good job today. everyone ice up, we're back at it tomorrow. your mom wants us to have a family dinner tonight, so don't be home too late" johnny said and he walked away

"must be nice being teachers favorite" mitch said as he handed the ice to miguel

"yeah is he going to tuck you in?" bert asked and he left as selene sighed

"i'm going to head out" selene stated and they rubbed miguel's shoulder as they left the building and walked to their car with beetle

"can you drive home?" devon asked and selene opened the door as devon climbed in

"come on kid" selene said to devon as she climbed in the front and beetle got in the middle

"thanks" devon said and they nodded

"you know that's usually his seat, this is like a write of passage from me and him" selene stated and devon smiled before she started to direct selene to her house

"i'll see you at practice , thanks selene" she said and she got out of the car. they drove home and fell asleep before they woke up the next morning and drove to school

"selene" tory called and they turned to her as they got out of the car

"oh hey" they said and they climbed out and smiled at her

"heard about the tournament?" tory asked as they walked into the school together

"i did" they said and tory nodded

"this doesn't change anything right" she asked and selene nodded

"nothing, i'll see you around tory" they said and they left as they walked to class and went throughout the whole day staring into space.

"hey i'm going to see miguel and johnny do you want to come?" sam whispered and selene shook their head

"can't , i have to go home. dcs worker" they said and sam sighed as the class ended and selene went home

"selene we want to talk about something" the dcs worker said and selene nodded as they sat down and beetle laid his head on their lap

"is beetle yours?" the worker asked and selene nodded

"he is" they responded

"and you take care of him? he goes places with you?" she questioned

"i do take care of him. he's mine and he goes with me, why?" they asked

"we just want to make sure that you're okay with your certain living situation selene. we'll be doing checkups" she said and she got up as she left the house

selene had one worry

they would find out the battling truth of the family and it would all crumble down
