Chapter Six
Beetle

3rd Person POV

they woke up at 12:30 pm and looked down at their chest to see beetle still laying their next to them

"oh buddy, at least you're still here" they whispered and they looked at their phone to see messages from her father and tory

"oh great just great" they said and they picked up their phone as they opened the texts form their dad and read them

'bug, probation?' the first text read and they shook their head before they opened the texts from tory

'are you okay? i saw that fight with your mom in the parking lot, wanted to check on you' the text read and they smiled softly before answering

'it happens all the time but yeah i'll be okay, i have beetle' they responded and tory texted back fastly

'beetle?' she replied

'he's my dog, you'd love him. i'll let you meet him some time' they responded and smiled softly

'i'd be happy to' tory said and selene smiled

'goodnight tory' they replied and beetle moved before he fell asleep again and selene fell asleep with him. they woke up the next morning and they got up as they noticed that their moms car was gone and smiled

"morning beetle, wanna go for a walk boy" they asked and he sat up as he wagged his tail and they smiled

"let me get dressed and then we can go buddy" they said and they walked to their closet as they found a change of clothes and they got dressed and turned to beetle

"let's go buddy" they said and he stood up from the bed as they grabbed his leash and harness. they put it on him and they walked out of the door on their balcony

"stairs buddy let's go" they called and he walked down the stairs as they walked with him

"sel" someone called and they turned to see tory

"hey" they spoke and beetle started to wag his tail and tory looked at him

"this is beetle?" she asked and selene nodded

"yeah i got him when i was 10 years old, he's about six and still kicking like a puppy" they spoke and tory leaned down as beetle licked her hand and tory smiled

"why is his name beetle?" tory questioned and selene smiled softly as they shook their head

"i loved beetles when i was a kid, they were my favorite insect and the name just fit him yknow" they stated and tory nodded

"it does fit him, you know i thought you would've been a cat person" she said and selene chuckled as they shook their head

"no of course not but that's a lovely assumption" they said and tory smiled

"so what are you doing?" tory asked

"was taking him for a walk but other than that nothing i have to avoid my mom for as long as possible. i can't face her" selene said and tory nodded

"i'm surprised you haven't been with johnny lately" tory spoke and selene nodded

"i decided to leave him" selene stated

"so are you gonna join kreese?" tory asked and selene shrugged

"i don't know but i sure as hell hate this" selene said and tory nodded

"well let me show you that place i talked to you about" tory spoke and selene looked down at beetle

"can he come?" selene asked and tory chuckled

"of course he can" tory said and they started to walk together as beetle walked in-front of them as they smiled

"you really do love this dog don't you?" tory said and selene nodded

"he's the only dog that has ever stuck by me for everything. he was around more then my dad and i love him with my whole heart" selene said

"right. your dad" tory began

"i don't want to talk about him. he breaks promises and he lies and he's never here. i don't think of him as my dad anymore. he's never there and i don't trust him" selene spoke and tory sighed

"you hate talking about him?" tory said and selene looked down at beetle

"i hate thinking about him and having him occupy a part of my brain when he's not around" selene exclaimed

"do you ever miss him?" tory asked

"i miss knowing that he was around and that i could talk to him" they stated and tory nodded

"but beetle makes up for it" she said and selene nodded

"yeah he's here when i need him and i trust him" selene said and beetle barked as he panted and smiled at them

"i trust him too, he's pretty cute" tory spoke and they smiled softly before they got to the spot and tory looked at selene

"how did you find this place?" they asked as they looked around and they walked into the park. the fence locked them in and selene dropped beetles leash as he ran off with a smile on his face

"i was avoiding school this morning and i just found it; thought you would enjoy it" tory said and selene nodded

"yeah" selene said and they looked around the park with a smile

"you keep avoiding the school don't you?" tory asked and selene nodded as they sat down on the swing and looked around

"mom wants me to go but i just can't. if i can avoid it and act like it doesn't exist then i'll be fine. i'm on probation anyways" they spoke and tory nodded

"that sucks doesn't it?" tory said and selene nodded

"not as much as my dad leaving but at least i have you" they stated and he nodded

"why don't you hate me?" tory asked and selene shrugged before tory's phone rang and selene sighed softly

"i've told you tory but we should go" selene said before she looked around

"beetle come on" they called and beetle ran over

"bye tory" they spoke and tory smiled as selene hooked beetle onto his leash and led him out of the park

hopefully they wouldn't ever hate tory
