"I Remember."
Love isn't some game you play. Love is true and pure.
Love is smiling and telling her you love her right after she finishes yelling at you.
Love is cradling her in your arms as she cries out her heart broken.
Love is holding her hair back as she throws up into the toilet.
Love is smiling at her like everything is all right even though she doesn't remember anything of your existence.
Annabeth's eyes flickered open to see a bright light above where she laid in a hospital bed in the horrible dresses that old people in nursing homes wear.
Annabeth squinted and sat up before looking around to see she had an IV in her arm and a man, slumped in a chair his chair his eyes widening as he looked at her.
"You're awake." He smiled and stood up before walking over and grabbing her hand which she promptly jerked away from the stranger.
"Where am I?" She eyed up the room seeing she was in a hospital.
"You're in a hospital Annabeth." He said as if he said the wrong thing he might hurt her.
Annabeth... The name ran through her mind, it was so familiar. Yet so strange like it was from another life.
"Is that my name?" She asked looking at the man with green eyes worriedly. She couldn't remember anything.
Percy's heart cracked, the doctor had told him it was a high possibility that she wouldn't remember anything. But Percy brushed off the idea as if it were impossible that it would happen.
But here he was, standing next to his wife who sat there not even knowing her own name.
"Yes," Percy smiled feeling his eyes get watery. "Annabeth is your name."
Annabeth looked down at the sheets as Percy watched.
"You have a ring.. Who is your wife?"
Percy's heart made a giant leap into his throat, his bottom lip started to quiver before he gently bit it making it stop.
Percy slipped his hand in his pocket and pulled out Annabeth's ring he had been holding since the car accident.
He gently grabbed her left hand and slipped the ring on her finger.
"You are."
Annabeth looked him straight in the eyes.
"Annabeth Jackson."
~~
They signed the papers to leave the hospital and Percy drove Annabeth back to their apartment where they had been living as a couple.
"We have a spare bedroom you can stay in until.... Well..."
Percy looked down and Annabeth grabbed his hand.
"I hope I remember you Percy."
Percy sent a smile of sympathy in her direction and she smiled back before they both got out of the car and went to their apartment.
Percy fixed up the spare bedroom as Annabeth looked around her home that she couldn't remember ever living in.
"The bathroom is across the hall from your bedroom right next to my bedroom which it connects to, just saying. So lock both doors when you go in so I don't accidentally walk in on you late at night." Percy explained as he walked out of her room and hung his coat up near the door which he had forgotten to do when he walked in.
"Also, I'll be putting your clothes from our bedroom into your new one so you have your clothes." Percy said and Annabeth nodded looking at the kitchen.
"I'm gonna go do that." Percy jabbed his thumb over his shoulder towards his room before turning and walking there.
He started unpacking her clothes and setting them on his bed which used to be theirs.
He remembered packing the clothes in the dresser when they first moved in.
"When are you gonna finish?" Annabeth asked as she took her socks and shoes off from a hard day of un-packing and re-packing, she was obviously ready for bed.
"As soon as I'm done."
"Ha, funny Mr. Smartypants."
Percy smiled and closed the drawer before getting out his PJ's from a lower region in the dresser that they were sharing until they had enough money to buy another.
Percy then changed and crawled in bed beside Annabeth before spooning her, her back pressed up against his chest.
"Goodnight Percy."
"Goodnight beautiful."
And with that Percy kissed her cheek sending giggles from her lips before he turned the lamp out and they slept.
Percy sighed, he could remember that night like it was yesterday.
Then Percy grabbed her clothes and put them in her room before leaving and preparing for dinner.
~~
"Pizza night!" Percy called one Wednesday making Annabeth pop her head out of her door raising an eyebrow.
"What's pizza night?" she asked walking out in her PJ's since it was late at night.
"Easy, I order pizza and we sit on the couch watching movies as we stuff our faces. You and I liked to do that."
"I bet, sounds fun. What type of pizza are we ordering?"
Percy's face lit up at how excited she sounded for pizza night.
They ordered their pizza's and picked out their movies that they were gonna watch, with a little bit of arguing, then the pizza arrived.
Percy slide the disc in the DVD player before grabbing the remote and sitting on the couch and grabbing a piece of pizza in the box that was between the two.
They watched the Disney movie called the Curse Of The Black Pearl.
It was pretty funny, but Annabeth was on the edge of her seat the whole time. Percy sighed knowing she had already seen the movie many times before. She just couldn't remember.
~~
After work one evening Percy came home and grabbed some cash before knocking on Annabeth's door.
"Yeah?" She called from her bed as she looked on her computer about amnesia.
"Wanna go grab some coffee? Like Starbucks or something?"
Starbucks? What is Starbucks? Annabeth thought.
"Sure." She agreed shutting her laptop even though she had no idea what it was.
"Great." Percy said nervously as if it were a first date.
Well, technically it was.
She came out in leggings and a sweater for the cold weather. Since it was late autumn.
Annabeth smiled and they made their way to their car.
"Hey!" Percy waved to their neighbors as they walked past to the car.
"Hey Percy, hey Annabeth."
The old couple waved and the younger two smiled before going to their car and driving to Starbucks.
Percy parked outside of the coffee shop before opening the door for Annabeth who smiled and grabbed her purse before getting out and following Percy inside Starbucks.
They got in line and Annabeth looked around as Percy fidgeted nervously beside her.
She saw small tables, and that the places color scheme was green and brown. Though she didn't understand the mermaid with two tails for the logo, that was kinda odd.
It was their turn in line and Percy stepped up before ordering a coffee and a pastry.
"And a Caramel latte." Percy said and Annabeth looked at him weirdly. He must've been really thirsty.
They got what Percy ordered and they sat down at a table before Percy passed her the Caramel Latte.
"Here, this was your favorite." He smiled warmly and Annabeth let out a small breath before taking it and taking a tiny sip.
Percy was right, this was her favorite. The flavors went together perfectly drenching her mouth in marvelous tastes. It was like a miracle in her mouth.
"Mmm." She said not stopping drinking making Percy chuckle at her actions.
"You look like you're having a love affair with that coffee."
Annabeth blushed and pulled away seeing she had somehow sucked down half of the drink already.
She looked up at Percy who was smiling. "Good?"
Annabeth nodded. She didn't understand how he was dealing with all of this.
He was married to some woman who couldn't even remember who she was, much less who he was. A woman who sometimes cried herself to sleep because she couldn't remember anything.
Heck, she had just met her mother and father a few days ago.
How could he be so nice, how?
Annabeth choked on her own saliva and her eyes began to water.
"Hey, are you ok?" Percy asked nervously.
"I'm fine." Annabeth wiped her tears away as she looked at his green eyes that had sympathy in them.
Percy smiled in compassion, "Come on." He stood and lead her out of the coffee shop before taking her to the park which was only about a 3 minute walk from Starbucks.
Percy found a bench and sat down pulling Annabeth with him letting them be alone.
"What's up?" He asked and Annabeth sniffled.
"I don't know, I feel useless I guess." She wiped her nose.
"I just can't remember anything, and..." She looked at him silent tears rolling down her red cheeks from the wind.
"I just can't fathom how you still love me anyways. I-I can't imagine loving someone who doesn't even remember me." She started full out sobbing and Percy wrapped his arm around her for the first time since the accident.
"Annabeth, that's the thing about love. It never gives up. Even in rough waters."
Annabeth sniffled and looked up at him seeing his jaw tightly clenched as he looked straight ahead his own eyes getting a little glossy.
Annabeth let out a breath and nestles her face into his chest. "Thank you." she breathed, she wondered if she would ever get her memory back.
The site she was looking at told her trying old things might trigger something and bring it all back, Annabeth didn't know if that was true or not.
She just wanted her memories back.
~~
One day Percy was sitting reading when Annabeth came and sat next to him looking at the book he was reading.
She started thinking about her life before, she wondered what it was like.
"Tell me about us." She scooted closer making Percy look up from his book at her.
"O-ok." He closed the book and set it down before starting to explain, sending him back to that time.
"Of course you chose the beach for our date." Annabeth rolled her eyes and Percy smiled before draping an arm around her and kissing her cheek.
"Don't worry, you'll have fun." He said fingering the box in his pocket as they walked on the shores of the empty beach together just enjoying being with each other.
After some walking and talking Percy decided he would get in the water.
"You didn't even bring you trunks!" Annabeth called as he started dancing in the small waves just happy to be wet soaking with the salt water he enjoyed so much.
"I don't care!" Percy shouted back. "Come join me!"
Annabeth shook her head at his silliness before throwing off her shirt and jumping in in her blue tank-top and jean shorts.
"See, you don't need a swimsuit." Percy said and Annabeth rolled her eyes. "But I'm still gonna get sand everywhere."
"Well, that comes with swimming in the ocean." Percy shrugged and Annabeth smiled before tackling him making him stumble back before she kissed him on the lips.
After a short make-out session in the ocean Percy pulled away and smiled. "It's time."
Percy started to get down on one knee as Annabeth watched quizzically. "Percy, what are you doing? You're gonna get all dirty."
Percy chuckled and pulled out a box. Annabeth gasped.
Percy slowly opened it and showed her the ring with a diamond on it.
"Will you, Annabeth Chase do me the honors of joining me on my adventure for the longhaul, being my partner in crime.. becoming my wife?"
The biggest smile Percy had ever seen stretched across Annabeth's face.
'"Of course you idiot!" She tackled him into the water kissing him more as he chuckled before he slipped the engagement ring on her ring finger.
Annabeth played with the ring as he finished explaining. She could imagine doing that.
"Yeah, it was great dating you." Percy chuckled as if remembering something funny.
Then he turned and looked Annabeth in the eyes, "It was even better marrying you."
Annabeth suddenly felt butterflies in her stomach start flapping around making her insides tingle and her cheeks turn a darker shade of pink.
~~
It had been a long day at work and Percy had already been having it hard, so his boss of course had to fire him around 11 at night (since he had a really late shift that night) and sending him home arriving at 11:45 PM.
Percy walked in and slammed the door in frustration. He was done, all he wanted to do was go back to his old life. Annabeth remembering him, he had his job. He felt so weak without her as his lean on.
The slamming of the door woke Annabeth up making her get up and walk out of her room to see a frustrated Percy hanging his keys up and starting to take off his coat.
Annabeth walked out rubbing her cold arms.
"Percy?" She asked knowing his shift didn't end until later at night.
"Why are you home so early?" She crossed her arms over her chest to keep in heat since the door opening and letting in cold air was freezing her.
"I-uh, I was fired." Percy looked down and leaned on the counter that had some stuff on it his arms shaking and his voice quivering.
Annabeth sighed and walked over seeing him in this weak state.
"Annabeth, I'm at the end of my rope." He stated looking at the counter. "I-I don't know if I can do this anymore." He looked over at her his sea green eyes most beautiful in the dark of night, suddenly Annabeth got the urge to kiss him.
She was about to scold herself for thinking that way and then remembered looking down at her ring, she was allowed to think that way. She was married to the man.
Annabeth smiled in compassion and strode over before placing her hand on his. "I know, and I'm sorry I can't remember anything, but I can't say that, in what I remember anyone has ever loved me like you have. I know it's not saying much with the whole amnesia thing but, I appreciate it. I appreciate you."
She looked him in they eyes and he smiled.
Annabeth thought about kissing him, she wondered if the feeling would trigger something like the site said, bringing her memories back.
Annabeth moved closer and slowly inched towards his lips her heart rate picking up. This was it.
Percy looked at her lips longing for the taste of her again, the feeling of her on him again, just her.
Annabeth moved in and closed the gap, their lips touched and electric seemed to spark between them.
Annabeth felt those butterflies again causing her insides to tingle and her senses to run wild, taste, touch. Those senses were the ones that were most alive.
Percy moaned into her lips before placing his hands on her hips. It was exactly as he remembered it. The taste sweet, and her lips soft on his. It was perfect.... Heh, it was Annabeth.
They pulled away panting and looking each other in the eyes.
"I love you Annabeth." Percy breathed and Annabeth smiled before he leaned down and kissed her passionately as she wrapped her arms around his neck letting her fingers play with the ends of his raven black hair.
Percy groaned and backed Annabeth up into the counter bumping off several items them crashing and thudding or breaking on the floor causing a loud noise, but they didn't care. It was as if they didn't even hear the sound.
Percy's hands trailed down to her bum before picking her up and setting her on the counter as he rubbed with his thumbs circles on the outsides of her thighs as they kept their lips locked moving in perfect sync with one another's like they had done so many weeks ago before the accident.
Percy couldn't handle it anymore, he wanted her now. He needed her.
So Percy picked Annabeth up again causing her to wrap her legs around him as he staggered towards his bedroom only getting to beside the doorway where he firmly pressed her up against the wall and pulled away catching his breath and letting Annabeth do the same from kissing for so long.
Annabeth laid her head back and let out a breath the particles in the air cold against her hot breath giving her breath form so she could see it along with Percy's breath as he started kissing her neck gently biting at it sending Annabeth to another world her heart beating at top speed.
Suddenly there was large bangs in place for knocks on the door making Percy freeze and Annabeth look towards the door her eyes widening.
Percy pulled away and set her down pulling his lips off of her along with his hands before he ruffled his hair and answered the door.
"Yes?"
"We heard a crash, are you two ok?" It was the older couple next door, they were so cute.
"Yeah," Percy cleared his throat, "Yeah, we're just fine." he glanced over at Annabeth who was standing in the hallway next to his bedroom deep red and her legs feeling numb from the intense kissing session they just had.
"Well, be careful next time. We were young too once." The old woman nodded behind the old man and for a moment Percy was confused. When he got the message that they knew what he was doing with Annabeth he turned deep red.
"Yeah, we'll try. Thanks for checking on us."
With that they said their goodnight's and Percy closed the door before looking over at Annabeth who was still standing next to his bedroom door hair crazy and eyes ablaze.
Percy turned and smiled before walking back over to her and gently kissing her wrapping his arms around her shoulders pulling her up against him in a sweet innocent kiss.
Though Percy seemed calm Percy's heart was racing, he wanted her so bad. He wanted to feel her up against him again, her bare skin. But would she let him? What if he was going to fast? He just needed conformation she was all for it as he was.
Percy pulled away and sighed before looking Annabeth in the eyes.
"I-I need to know if-if I'm allowed... Given permission..." Percy didn't know how to word it his mind was so jumbled up he couldn't think straight at the moment.
"If you want to as badly as I do." Percy looked down slightly embarrassed, he had every right to be. He had kissed her a thousand times before, but she couldn't remember a single kiss. This was all new to her.
Annabeth looked at Percy for a moment before turning a deeper shade of red. She knew what he was asking, but she didn't know how to respond. Yes, I would love to kiss you until I die because of a lack of oxygen. Well, that's probably not how she would say it, but you get the point.
Annabeth looked him in the eyes and slowly nodded.
"Look, I don't want you to feel like you're being pressured into it. We can wait. Waiting is good. Whatever you're comfortable with ya know." Percy kept rambling on until Annabeth smiled and kissed him shushing him.
"I want it, I want you."
Percy looked Annabeth in the eyes to see if she was lying but her eyes were pure with truth. She wasn't lying.
Percy smiled and kissed her for a moment before taking her in his bedroom and closing the door.
~~
The next morning Annabeth yawned and stretched in her bed before feeling two bare strong arms wrap around her bare waist before she heard a satisfied sigh over her shoulder the warm breath of the person falling on her bare neck.
Annabeth smiled and got comfortable up against him feeling warm and fuzzy inside as if she had been drinking hot coco.
"Morning." Percy kissed her bare shoulder and Annabeth smiled. "Good morning."
Annabeth remembered waking up the day after her wedding and laying almost the exact position she was in that morning as she was right now.
Annabeth shifted before her eyes suddenly shot open.
"Oh my gosh." She sat up and looked around the room. Yep, it was real, it was all real.
"Percy." She patted around the bed for him until her sat up and looked at her the blanket falling down revealing his toned chest and abbs.
She looked him in the eyes and smiled, "I remember."
Percy's eyes suddenly changed from a sleepy gaze to a vibrant one a smile stretching across his face showing off his pearly white teeth.
"What did I say to you on our first date?"
Annabeth thought a moment before answering.
" 'You look an adorable nerdy owl with glasses'."
Percy smiled more before wrapping Annabeth in his arms and kissing her making her giggle as the sun rays danced around them in their happy moment lightening up the room.
Annabeth remembered.
<~~>
I like this one, oh and BIG NEWS!
I got the TRIALS OF APOLLO!
So excited, but I'm limiting my reading to one chapter a day cause I don't want to finish it then have to wait for a super long time for the next book.
I just hope there isn't a cliffhangar in the end of one of the books of this book series like in the Mark of Athena.....
*shudders*
