Chapter 5
My breathing hitched as I stared at my reflection in the mirror. A lock of brown hair hung losely out of my curl haired up-do. Pink highlighted my cheeks and my eye lids where a dusty golden color. My lips where a nude color and I wore a strapless dark blue dress that stopped at my over knees.
I groaned in frustration.
Not enough!
I took the pins put of my hair, letting my now curly brown locks down. I messed with my hair a little before reaching for a makeup removing wipe. A loud ringing echoed through the house. The doorbell! I slipped into my black heels in a hurry and rushed down stairs. Makeup touch ups will have to wait. I ran my fingers through my curls once more before opening the door. Thedore looked back at me, his eyes widened. He was wearing a green tee with blue jeans. His brown hair, tousled and messy. His eyes scanned me up and down. "Damn." He muttered. "I know I'll fix it later." I sighed. "That wasn't what-"
"Come on Teddy I need your help." I whined. "What is it this time?" He said with a smirk. "My chocolate fountain won't start." I told him grimly. "Don't fear, Teddy is here!" He said grinning before handing me a present. "For the birthday girl." He announced proudly. "Can't wait to open it." I gleamed before setting it on the picnic table. "Now help with the fountain?" I asked. He nodded. "Choco train shall leave the station!" He said before rushing over the the machinary. He is an amazing friend.
Someone rang the doorbell again. "Coming!" I cheered. I walked up to the door to see Sherry. "You look amazing hun!" She complemented. She was wearing a white dress with brown heels and her hair straightened. "Same for you!" I gave her a cheeky smile. She caught me.by suprise by handing me a present box the scurrying off to get a drink. I looked at the box.
A second present?
Unless the first one wasn't from sherry. I knew it wasn't. But for some reason I wished it was. I gingerly placed the present on the table before making my way to greet a group of kids at the door.
"Welcome in, Glad you could make it."

By 8:30 a majority of the school had came, making me feel rightfully honored. "OMG awesome party!" Some drunk girl slurred. I was outside dancing with Sherry.
"I can't believe I'm 16!" I squealed. "Me neither!" She shorted over the music. Soon a slow song came on.
Sherry went off to go find her boyfriend.
Wow I just love slow songs. Note the sarcasm dripping from my words.
Couples started to pair off so I headed inside. A loud ringing came from the door. I looked down as I answered it. "Glad you could make it." My eyes drifted upward. It was him. "A little birdie told me you where 16. Congrats." He cheered before handing me a gift bag. I took it but I was still speechless. My eyes lingered on the girl clutched to his arm. She was beautiful.
Too beautiful.
Her skin was fair, her cheeks rosy. She had long black hair and white teeth. Her lips were the color of blood to contrast with her flawless skin. I stepped away from the couple as they made there way in. I still stared as I saw the girl whisper something into Henry's ear, making him smile and kiss her forehead. My heart started to crack. I looked down to realize my fingers gripping the bag, curling and digging its way into the material. I blinked the tears that threatened to leak out away. A whimper left my lips. Sadness dwelled into anger. Anger in the form of...Jealously?
On my birthday?
No!
I won't tolerate this. I shut the door behind me and tossed the present onto the table. "Control Brooklyn." I reminded myself. I need to stay in control of my emotions. With a deep breath I stepped outside into the dance floor. Another slow song was playing. I made my way to the playlist, my mind setting on changing the song. As I morphed into the crowd of dancing teens someone tapped my shoulder.
"Hey birthday girl. May I have this dance."
My eyes darted like venom to the couple behind him, dancing happily. Henry can screw himself.
"Yes you may My Lady." I said witha fake smile.
I took Thedore's hand and before I knew it, We were dancing, intraced in the song.
"Are you ok?" Whispered Thedore into my ear. I rested my head in his chest.
"Yeah. Everthing is going to be alright."
I've never been so wrong in my life.
