I entered the class. It was just like any other potions class . There was one cauldron on each desk. As usual I went and sat on a seat which was in the middle.

    I was busy reading the potions book . I felt someone pull a chair besides me. I looked up from my book . It was a girl . She smiled at me. 

     "I'm Alice Perwell . And you are??" she said.

      "Hey I'm Alexandra White. But you can call me Alexa." 

   She nodded . We chatted for a while. She told me about her parents. She was a Gryffindor. She seemed a bit surprised that I was in class. But I explained my problem to her.  She nodded.

     In just a few minutes Professor Slughorn entered the classroom. He was short and plump in appearance. He had a certain kind of spark in his eyes. He looked like he enjoyed teaching. Unlike Professor Binns.

      "Good morning my dear children. Before we begin today's lesson I think it is appropriate that I remind you that next June you will be sitting an important examination known as  "O.W.L" I expect each of you to work hard" his gaze turned towards Alice. Then towards me. 

     "Oh you must be the new student from Beauxbotons.. Welcome Miss white!!!!" he said enthusiastically.

        I simply nodded. 

        " Today we will be mixing a very important potion:the Draught of peace, a potion to calm anxiety and soothe agitation. You need to be careful with the ingredients or you might put the drinker into a heavy sleep."

    The ingredients and method"he flicked his wand "are on the blackboard" (they appeared there) "you will find everything you need on your table" he flicked his wand again. "Good luck!!"

     The Draught of Peace was not an easy potion . I had already read that one. The ingredients had to be added in the right number. The mixture had to be stirred clockwise then anti-clock wise. This was going to be tough.I read the instructions on the board

        I added the unicorn hair powdered porcupine  quill and stirred it clockwise. After that I added the powdered moonstone and two drops of hellebore syrup and stirred it anti-clock wise. I switched of the burner and let the potion rest for seven minutes. I looked at my watch and saw that I was running out of time. Slughorn would be here any minute. I looked beside me and saw that Alice's potion was hard like cement.

      She had forgotten to add the hellebore. I helped her with her potion . In a few minutes Professor Slughorn neared our table. He looked towards me and said

 "Very good Miss White." 

"Thank you Professor" I replied.

He turned towards Alice's cauldron " Miss Perwell you must work hard this year" he said disaprovingly.

        He moved forward. I patted her back and tried to reassure her. She gave me weak smile and nodded her head. 

       After fifteen minutes it was finally lunch time. I submitted my potion and got out of the class. Suddenly someone grabbed my hand . I turned it was Lily. Ofcourse she is a Gryffindor.. we started walking.

     "So how were your classes?" Lily asked

      "Well I had Proffessor Binns this morning. Sitting in his class was torture. My chair was suddenly  very comfortable and the table was like a fluffy pillow. But I restrained from sleeping" 

She laughed at my comment and said "You'll get used to it."

     "Lily !!" someone shouted and both of us halted . 

It was the boy from the train . "Lily I'll be sitting with Bellatrix for lunch . Hope it's fine. Bye"

   With that he walked ahead of us. I looked at lily and said

    "Will you sit with me for lunch???" I asked her.

   She agreed and smiled. We started climbing the stairs. By climbing I mean hopping . Not the sarcasm .

       Soon we reached the Great Hall 

"How are we going to sit together if we are in different houses ?" I asked her.

 "We can sit near the library" she replied.

I'm glad that she was my friend. I mean only a few people like libraries.

  She suggested to bring lunch for me as well. I thanked her and she went in . As I was standing near the huge doorway of the great hall. I saw Dani and Eva. I waved at them. Dani literally ran towards me Eva just laughed at Dani's reaction.

    "So how was it ???" Dani asked

"It wasn't that bad . Infact I enjoyed it.."I replied.

"See I told you it was going to be fine . You were worrying for no reasons" eva said.

  I told them to join me and Lily for lunch. They happily agreed .

  Lily soon came out and I told her that eva and dani would be joining us and she agreed. All of us moved towards the library. 

   There was a huge window just outside the library. Dani and eva sat on the window sill. I saw that there wasn't any place for me and lily. I rushed into the library to take two chairs. 

I saw that Alice was sitting all alone on a chair and reading a book. I went towards her and snatched the book from her hand.

 "Come on Alice!!!! sit with me for lunch.." I said .

She hesitated a bit but then agreed. I gave her the book and went outside with the chairs. 

"I've got company " I said.

"No problem" lily said

"The more the merrier" eva said.

"I'm Dani and thats Eva" she said pointing at eva.

They made space for Alice. She sat  between them.

I kept the chairs  lily sat on one and I sat on the other one.

Lily opened the lunch she had packed

"Wait you don't know each other"I asked.

I took a pie and started munching it.

"No we don't know a lot of Gryffindor's " eva said.

"We don't even get out of the Great Hall for lunch . This is our first time." Dani said

She took a sip of the pumpkin juice.

"Yeah because of the house separation we can't make a lot of friends"lily said.

"Well that sucks" I replied.
