CHAPTER 26: Track Meet (1)

"Get your asses down here right now! Pres. Is getting annoyed at us!" I sighed as I walked out of my room and locked it. My phone was held at my ear with one hand and the bag pack in the other.

"I am on my way. Jeez"

I hung up and jogged down the steps towards the front of the lobby. Today was the start of Track meet which will go on for a week. This time, however, the meet was not held at the IUST Central campus. Rather, it was at the Chiang Mai Province at the Northern Campus.

"Ah finally" muttered Ahren, pushing his hair away from his face. I pulled the stray ones and he winced.

"Let's go"

We stood in a circle as the Pres. And the Vice. Pres. Talked on and on about the trip. We received an email a few days ago, about this. The venue change was refreshing, truth be told. Even if we don't know how they will get the Track meet done in Chiang Mai but anyway.

The seniors had their own transport and so did we. The freshers and others were in the bus. The boys decided to take one of our cars instead of the bus because Kwan doesn't do well on buses.

"Whose vehicle?" questioned Carwayn, leaning onto the bus that the freshers were now getting into.

We all looked at each other. There were five of us. Five huge humans. There was no way we were getting in one vehicle for a day drive.

"We have to take two- " Kwan made that point clear.

"The roads will be high end so......."

"Four by Four it is"

"Oh god no. I am not driving" We all turned Ahren whining.

"We just need your vehicle, not you" said Aqua, rolling his eyes. Ahren took out the keys and threw it at him. The duo began dwelling it out. Oh great.

I took the time to look around. Students were scattered around the campus, yelling for others to get into their respective transportation's. I wonder how Indah and the girls are going?

"Ah Daw!" I tilted my head back to the boys to see Daw and Asteria walking towards us.

"Hey Guys" Asteria was the brighter one amongst the two, I swear.

"Hey. How are you guys going?"

"Own. You guys?"

"Own"

"Sweet"

Ahren and Asteria got along too well. Huh. I turned to Aqua to find the guy gone. Where'd he go?

"See you guys on the road" saluted Daw and walked away, pulling Asteria with her.

"Wait!" Ahren called out to them and began running towards them. I followed him only strolling though. Kwan was beside me soon enough and we headed to where the girls stood.

"What happened?" asked Kwan and Ayaka glared at everyone. Not surprising though.

"We can't decide who takes what" said Kanak and I searched the place for Indah. Of course she wasn't here.

"Where is Indah?" asked Kwan and the girls sighed.

"Late"

I chuckled lowly. Sure enough, I saw her running towards her with her bag pack and her suitcase in her hands. Her hair was all over the place.

"Hey" she said, panting as she stood infront of us. I grinned at her.

"You are late"

"I know. Overslept"

"Okay, back to the issue at hand" said Kanak, holding up her hand for attention. By now Carwayn and Aqua were here too.

"What happened?" questioned Aqua and the girls sighed. Indah was ever so confused. I shifted to stand beside her and bent to her level.

"They have a distress which is yet to be revealed" I whispered and she chuckled lowly.

"Sure they do. Guys what is it?!"

"We initially decided to take my vehicle." Said Daw and we nodded. Indah raised an eyebrow at this.

"And?"

"Well. It is a day long journey. I doubt we all will be able to survive in one vehicle like that" said Kanak and I let out a sigh of relief. I thought it was something major.

"Then lets do this-" said Aqua. I had a feeling he was looking at Daw but I am not sure.

"-You take one vehicle, we have two, so you guys can jump into ours if it gets stuffy" he completed his sentence and the girls sighed. I turned to Indah and threw her a smirk. We both knew who will shift to mine.

"Are you guys sure?" asked Kanak and we nodded.

"More than welcome. That is what friends are for" replied Ahren and the girls nodded gratefully.

"So, let's leave"

"Will you let one song play please?!" questioned Aqua frustrated from the drivers' seat as Ahren shuffled with the songs. Aqua, Ahren and I were in one vehicle which was Aqua's Toyota Hilux while Carwayn and Kwan were in the other vehicle which was Ahren's Ford Ranger. Of course, Ahren was a lazy human so he opted to stay with us because he knew Aqua and I would take turns to drive and he'd be free to sleep.

"Fine" muttered Ahren, playing some music. I knew this song but I didn't exactly know which one it was. My phone gave a buzz indicating a message. I opened Line and grinned when I saw a sticker from Indah.

Cactus: Hey.

Cactus: How's the trip?

Cactus: Why are you leaving me on seen?

I chuckled lowly at this and leaned onto the door (after making sure it's locked) and tapped in a reply.

Me: Hey.

Me: I didn't leave you on seen. I was waiting for you to finish your blabbers. [Wink Emoji]

I didn't get a reply instantly and just when I was losing hope on this girl, she replied back.

Cactus: Sorry. Was taking care of the creature beside me. She kept peeping into my damned phone.

Me: Oh hahahah. How is the drive going?

Cactus: Not good. So far, Kanak and Daw have fought over music, Ayaka is in a bad mood and Asteria doesn't seem to bother about the other two fighting. I swear I feel like Ayaka is going to leave us soon to ourselves.

Me: Hahaha. That is sad to hear. Wanna join me?

Cactus: I wouldn't dream of it. Hahaha. I think Ayaka is going to swap soon.

Cactus: P.S. I am hungry.

Me: Sure, you are.

Cactus: I didn't have time for food.

Me: Stop over somewhere for food then.

Cactus: If I do that, Ayaka will leave us!

Me: Why are you so scared that Ayaka will leave you?

Cactus: Because Ayaka is the sane one here. If she leaves us, we will be so lost.

Me: Haha. I knew you were insane, just to this level I didn't know.

"Why are you smiling like a maniac?" I looked up to see Ahren frowning at me. How he was squished in between the two seats was still a mystery to me.

"No, I am not" I told him and just then my phone buzzed again. This time, Ahren was fast and my phone was in his hands. I didn't see that coming dude.

"Hey, give it back!" I called out to him as I leapt up to take it. Of course, he held it away. At first, I thought my phone was locked until I saw him on my Line. Shit.

"Ahren" I said calmly.

"Why do you have so many messages with Indah?" he asked me, and I glared at him. Aqua slammed his hand over Ahren's head and I took the opportunity to take back my possession.

"You should not invade his privacy"

"Yes Ahren, you shouldn't" I added to Aqua's statement.

"On the contrary, why do you have so many messages with Indah anyway?" questioned Aqua and I sighed deeply.

"Take your time. We have all day"

I shrugged and went back to my messages.

It was a Friday night and Kanak didn't wish to stay indoors. It's Friday for heavens sake!, she had proclaimed. Indah was too tired to argue, having known to lose from her each time while Ayaka and Asteria were too busy. Daw on the other hand was hands down with the plan.

"Why are you excited? You loathe clubs and sweaty bodies!" Asteria remarked making Daw glower at her. The girls were of different nature yet somehow, they got along well. It was their second year at IUST and they were very glad to have gone through the first one. They pitied the first years.

"Right. Right. There's this new club that opened downtown and we have to check it out. Their restrooms give free condoms! How cool is that?!" Kanak bounced on her feet as she told them the good news. Indah rolled her eyes, Ayaka scoffed, Asteria went pale and Daw glowered at her.

"Right. It's probably 21 plus and right now, none of us are 21. Asteria is still 19 for gods sake!" Ayaka remarked and the rest frowned. It was true though, they were all 20 years at the moment. Kanak's face lit up.

"We'll just have to seduce the bouncers." she said with finality making the girls roll her eyes.

"Have you met me?" Daw questioned her. Kanak groaned.

"Exactly. Have you met me? I am about as seductive as a cabbage." replied Indah, frowning to herself. Ayaka sighed and went back to reading.

"No clubs then?"

"Maybe next time. Let's Netflix and Pizza tonight." Asteria suggested and Kanak sighed dejectedly.

"I'll order pizza."

"I'll check Netflix."

"And I'll be existing." Kanak said dramatically making the girls laugh. Sometimes Netflix and saying in with bestfriends is better than going out and meeting strangers.
