For the past two days, the girls and I had been in Maldives, enjoying the sun. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy. Instead, I was bombarded with questions, confusions and frustrations about the idiot I had the dismay of encountering in my life. Seriously, what bad did I do in my life to have such contradicting point in my life now?!
"Indah are you even listening?!" snapped Daw and I looked up to her with a sheepish smile.
"Of course I am" I muttered and she glared at me.
"You seriously need to sort out this, girl" commented Asteria and I sighed deeply.
"I know. I know. It is just so.......... weird" I replied and the girls shrugged, pulling their luggage with them.
We walked out of the airport while Daw called the cab. We stood by the airport entrance waiting for the cab. I realized that just like that, the four day holiday of Songran was over. Today was Sunday and tomorrow Monday. Ah great.
"Come on guys. Lets go"
***
"Home!" I chuckled as I lay on my bed.
"So what are you going to do with Kirun?" asked Kanak and I shrugged.
"I don't know. Leave it. He will snap out of whatever-this-is" I replied and they nodded before walking out of my room. I got up and locked the door before crashing back on my bed and staring at the ceiling.
Just then my phone in my jeans pocket vibrated. I took it out and saw a message on Line.
Opening my Line, I realized it was from an unknown number.
Unknown: Hey. How are you?
I frowned at the message before taking a screenshot and putting it on our girl gang group chat.
[Picture: screenshot]
Me: Anyone know who this is?
Daw: Nope. Add and check.
I then added the number on line. Much to my surprise, it was someone I had totally forgotten about. How did he get my number anyway?
Me: Hey.
Ace: Heyy. So how are you?
I smiled like an idiot. I am a sucker for instant replies.
Me: All good. How are you?
Me: How did you get my number by the way?
Ace: I am good too. Haha. It wasn't that hard. I just had to use my charms and viola, I had it. *wink emoji.
I rolled over to my left side, careful not to hurt my already painful arm.
Me: Awh. That's nice. :)
Ace: So you free today?
I did a double check on my screen. Am I being delusional?
I again screenshot the message and sent it on the girl gang. I need help. Immediately I received replies. Kanak said say yes and the rest agreed with it. Ayaka however, said to see where this goes. I have a feeling this girl is batting on Kirun's team.
I swapped back to his chat and replied affirmative.
Ace: Wanna hang out?
Me: Sure. Its Sunday and I am absolutely free. *Grin Emoji.
I cringed when I re read my message to him. I sounded so creepy. Jeez. Oh well, its too late to change it anyway.
Ace: Okay then. See you at 4pm? We will have enough time to reach the market and have dinner.
I smiled brightly. This is the way to go. I swapped messages and went to group chat.
Me: I have a date!!!!
Daw: Nice. Go girl. Enjoy.
Asteria: Great news. Make sure to dress nice. And keep your cellphone on. *wink.
Ayaka: That is nice. Do tell us where you are going so that we can come get you if you get wasted or kidnapped. Xx.
Daw: Oh My God Ayaka! Stooooppppp. She will have a good time. But @Indah, do tell us where you are going so we can look out for you. Enjoy.
Kanak: Thats great. I wish I had one too.
Ayaka: @Daw, What? I was just being on the safe side. We don't know much about Ace anyway.
Me: Guysss. Its okay. I will be safe, I promise. Its just one date and I will be home by 7. Chill.
Daw: You better. If you are not home by then, you gon' get it from us.
Kanak: Yessss. And no kissing!! Its the first date!
Immediately the recent kiss of mine flashed past my mind. Oh why dear mind, why?
Shaking my head clear of those thoughts, I chuckled lowly at her remark. Would I let Ace kiss me? The answer was HELL YES but I can't tell these gang that. If I do, they would come to spy on my date. Trust me, I know them really well. Maybe because I have spied with them when Kanak went on her first date with some guy I forgot. He was a senior.
Me: No Kanak. I won't do that. And no spying guys!
Asteria: Bahahahahahhaaa. Its what we do best! *wink.
Daw: No promises.
Ayaka: I promise we won't if you keep your phone on all the time and we know your whereabouts.
I sighed deeply at the antics of my friends. They were protective of me. We all were. It just came naturally after we became best of friends. All of us had something we feared and thus, we formed a bond over it.
Me: Oh okay. I'll keep my phone on, I promise. We are just going to the Siam Market and then dinner and we will be done.
Daw: Oh okay. Go get ready then. And be safe.
I switched off my phone and placed it on charger. I didn't realize I was pacing the room floor while talking to my idiots.
I walked up to my closet and opened it. What to wear? I checked the time on my watch and saw that I had an hour or so to get ready. I plugged in my iPod on the iHome. Style by Taylor Swift began playing.
I sang along the chorus as I searched my closet.
"You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye
And I got that red lip, crashing thing that you like
And when we go clashing down, we come back every time
'We never go out of style, we never go out of style" I knew some of my lyrics were wrong but who cares!?
I was happy and excited and that was what mattered the most. I danced around to the songs in my getting ready playlist on Spotify. I sighed and set on the fluffy chair in front of my closet. What do I wear?
The whether was pretty hot so I am not wearing anything long. I guess I will have to go with short things. So should I wear a dress? Or Jeans and crop top? Or maybe a skirt? Skirt sounds good.
I rummaged through my closet for skirts and finally found a peach frilly one. And I didn't like it. So again I searched it for a dress. I found a bright yellow floral dress that had capped sleeves and it was comfy. I grinned at it. Finally. Pairing it up with gym shorts (because why not? It won't be seen anyway) and a headband, I was satisfied with it.
I showered and then got ready. I actually looked good in this dress. Wonder why I never wore it before. I did my hair in a neat updo, making it a bun and putting the headband around it to secure it before pinning the lose bangs on the top of my head. I had only one simple necklace in my neck which was the Three dots of pearl necklace. Mom gifted it to me on my 16th saying that your life may not always be comfortable. It will be dark and heavy and at times, you will feel nothing is making sense. During those times, just look at this necklace and know that one day everything will connect.
I did have others like this that mom and dad bought me. It usually symbolized things. I don't know why mom likes these things though.
I shrugged off the thoughts and got ready to the tunes of Thinking out Loud by Ed Sheeran.
I was a sucker for this guy's music, I swear. I applied moisturizer over my legs and hands and then got dressed. The final thing I did was put on lip balm. Just then my phone rang. I hurried to the charging table and picked it up, plugging the charger out of it.
"Hey"
"Hey. I am downstairs" Ace replied and I grinned.
"Be there in 5minutes" I replied, hanging up.
I took my round straw bag that matched my dress perfectly (because it was brown and had a sun yellow bandana tied to one of the sides) and placed my phone, headphones, wallet and charger in it before rushing to the door. I slipped on my brown gladiator braided sandals and opened the door, stepping out before shutting it behind me. I had already put other essentials in the bag before so I knew I had my key card.
I walked down the steps carefully until I reached the lobby. I checked my watched to realize I was there a little after 5 minutes that I had told him. I looked around and found him standing by the gardens outside the lobby of the dorms. And Holy Good Lord, he looked hot. He wore ripped jeans and a white t-shirt paired with white sneakers and aviators. Can I fangirl right now?
I walked towards him and he took off his aviators, smiling brightly at me.
"Why, don't you look beautiful" he complimented and I grinned at him.
"Thank you! You don't look so bad yourself" I said and he nodded, chuckling.
"Shall we?" he asked, holding out his hand and I nodded, placing mine it his.
"Sure"
***
The Chatuchak Weekend Market, was bustling with people. Ace held my hand as we walked past the market stalls and through the crowded people. It was a Sunday and yet people were everywhere. I had come here once and that was sometime last year with the girls. I distinctively remember a shop selling accessories that I had bought for us.
"Why exactly are we here?" I asked Ace as we walked through the streets. He threw me one of his charming smiles.
"Well, I thought we could take a walk around this market and see if we can buy something?" he said, unsure of his words. I chuckled lowly at him.
"Ah sure"
I honestly had no idea why we are here. But I was here with Ace and that mattered the most.
***
The market shopping spree was a good one. I saw fish, prawns and starfish. They were all so adorable but they were dead. And that was the downfall of it. Awh well. I do love eating them so- I sound so sadistic right now.
Ace had drove us to the Siam Square One for dinner. It was almost 6.30pm and the sun had set, leaving the sky in its musky colors. It was beautiful.
"What would you like to order sir?" I looked up to the waiter who smiled at us both.
"Indah?" Ace asked and I shifted in my seat. I hadn't chosen yet.
"It is okay, you can take your time" the waiter smiled at us before walking away.
"So?"
I glanced over the menu, looking for something appetizing. I finally sound Sushi and my favorite, Chicken Katsu. I usually ate it when Ayaka made it.
"You decided?" asked Ace and I nodded. He called over the waiter who smiled at us again.
"Norimaki Sushi, Chicken Katsu, Yakitori and Hayashi Raisu." said Ace and turned to me.
I raised my eyebrows at him.
"What would you like to drink?" he asked me and I flipped to their drinks.
"Lemonade will be fine" I replied.
"Lemonade and a glass of beer please" He ordered and the waiter walked away. He then turned to me and gave me a smile. He placed his hands on the table, outstretched and I almost, almost drooled over it. The veins were popping out perfectly, giving it the model look.
The sight reminded me of Kirun and I let out a laugh.
"What is so funny?" asked Ace, smiling at me slyly and I shook my head at the stupidity of Kirun.
"Its really nothing. I just remembered something" I replied, sobering up and he nodded.
"So how was your holiday?" he asked me and I shrugged, looking outside.
"Okay I guess. I didn't go out much" I replied. We were seated at the booth by the window which cast a view of the bustling people in the mall.
"You didn't go out in Maldives?!" he asked me incredulously and I chuckled.
"Weird, I know. I just had alot of things on my mind" I replied, flinching at the past weekend.
"It is weird but that's just you." he said and I chuckled lowly.
"I hope that was a compliment" I muttered and he held his hand up in surrender.
"Of course it was" with that we both laughed.
The food here was delicious. I ate to my heart's content and drank down my lemonade. Finally done. I checked the time on my watch to see it was past 7:30pm. The girls must be freaking out.
"I gotta get to the dorms. It closes at 8pm" I said and he nodded, getting up. He paid for the meals, despite me insisting I pay on my own. We walked to his car before he drove me to the dorms. Luckily, the Siam Square was near the dorm so we had less traffic and I was there by 7:55pm. I call it lucky save.
He stood infront of me at the dorm lobby, smiling brightly.
"I had fun today, thank you" I said, breaking the silence and he nodded.
"Sure thing. I did too" he replied, shifting from one leg to the other.
"Is something the matter?" I asked him and he grinned sheepishly.
"Can we do this again sometime? I mean I really like you Indah. You are a great girl. I would love to take you out sometime." he said and added a 'soon' later on. I stared at him in disbelief. My crush of two years or so is asking me out. ME!
"Uh y-yeah. I mean yeah sure" I replied, playing it cool. He nodded at me and gave me a small smile.
"Sweet. So I'll see you tomorrow" he said and I smiled unsurely at him.
"At the court, I mean" he added and I nodded, smiling.
"Okay bye" he said and proceeded to walk out of the lobby. He looked back once more and waved before being told off my the guard to Just Leave! I stood there, laughing at him before I realized I just may be late for room inspection. Today was Sunday after all.
| Snippet. |
It was a Friday night and unlike his usual schedule of going out with his boys; Kirun was stuck with Indah, working on her project that was due in three days. So here he was, seated on the couch in her room with his laptop, preparing her ppt. She had told him the day before on what will go on what slide so it was supposed to be easy for him.
Except it was not. He was a business and marketing student writing about The rise of mass customization and its impact of the supply chain. He didn't even understand what mass customization was!
He set cross legged on her couch with his laptop on the small laptop table infront of him. BTS played loudly in the background and Kirun tried not to get annoyed with it. It was not that he hated the boy band, no. He hated the fact that Indah always played music on loud mode. It was like she never understood what headphones meant.
Kirun sighed in annoyance before going back to his work. He had assignments to finish too.
"-I am so bored!" he glanced over to the said girl taking a seat beside him. She was anything but lady like. Anything!
"Well, if you could do your assignments, it would be great" Kirun sassed and she glared at him.
"Well, if you didn't break my arm, I would" she snapped and turned back to her phone. Kirun sighed and went back to doing his work. He checked the time to realize it was past 9pm. It was not even afternoon anymore. How long was he here for anyway?
He shut the laptop lid and turned to Indah who was busy watching random videos on her phone.
"Don't you get tired of them?" he asked and she threw him a grin, laying her head on the pillow that Kirun had placed beside him.
"You wanna watch?" she asked him and he shrugged.
"Here" she shifted so that she lay on the pillow on his lap as the duo watched random comedy videos. Their laughed resonated through the room and for once, over a long time, she felt happy.
She yawned a little while later and Kirun took the cue for her to go to bed. But since she was a whiny child, she refused to get up. Instead, Indah shifted on his lap and closed her eyes.
Truth was that she was comfortable in his lap. The pillow was comfy and his scent was enough to lure her into a dreamless sleep. She had realized that years ago when she first slept in his hoodie at the camp. Since then, she always; much to her dismay, got hold of his hoodie to sleep in. Unknown to Kirun, she still had a few of his sweaters lying around. The ones she snatched with no intention of giving it back.
"Sleep" she murmured and Kirun smiled at her. He ran his fingers through her hair and the motion slowly lulled her to sleep.
