Chapter Nineteen

Today at school consisted of exchanging glares with Alex. I felt my heart skip a beat whenever I'd catch hims staring at me and still find myself staring until he looked away.

Fool.

How can I be in-love with someone who clearly has no interest in me? That's childishly unbearable. I didn't know if it showed that I loved him but I hoped didn't see it. Otherwise I'd just avoid him the rest of my life.

Now I was barely paying any attention to the biology teacher. Even though I caught sight of him staring at me with a frown I wondered why and quickly ignored him.

"Ciara Anderson!" I stood up immediately, like I knew he would call me out soon. "Do you mind sharing truth behind your eye contact with mr. Bartel over there?"

I was shocked at his request. Was I staring that hard at him? Why kind of a fool was I?

"I wasn't having a conversation. Sir." I tried to hide my embarrassment, but my village people have sent him to me today.

"Looked like you did to me. Mr. Bartel!" He called  Alex who didn't even flinch. "Do you have something to say to this young lady?" I flushed in disgrace .

"Yes." Shocked I looked up to him from my desk. Holding a what the heck look.

"But I'd rather keep it private. Some people might get jealous." Like that boys started yelling and hooting until the teacher silenced them

The teacher nodded and resumed the class. I glared at him but he only smiles, revealing his perfect whites. I was tranced. How could anyone be so perfect? His smile was gorgeous and I felt for it to last forever.

He winked and I sank in my chest. Pumping my blood faster than it should. Eventually I shook out of it. Mostly because I thought the class had gone too silent but the teacher resumed right after.

The class was over and to many surprise Alex was still in school. I thought he didn't like history. Why'd he have to attend the class?

I had the intention to walk up to him, excepting to have a little talk with him to ease me a little, but a crowed had already blocked me from his view.

I jumped to see what everyone suddenly grew interested about and found myself pushing through the crowd.

Alex!

A poor spineless body lay below and took the heavy punches from Alex. His face twisted forcefully to the side the moment Alex fist would collide with his face and soon blooded started to spill into the air.

"Alex!" I yelled but he couldn't hear me over his grunts. "Alex stop! Stop it!" I yelled again, but to no avail.

My arms wrapped his and pulled him forcefully off the poor things body. "What is wrong with you?!" I yelled when his eyes came into sight. He had a allot of emotions and I couldn't tell what he felt, or why he did this.

"Stay out of this Ciara." He grunted before the terribly beaten boy struggled too his feet. His jaw looked like it could fall off while blood covered his teeth as he laughed.

"And the princess arrives." He laughed with bloody teeth. "Are you going to beat me up in front of her too?" He said.

I stared at him and noticed I'd seen him before. It was Drake, he had his girlfriend with us the day of our hangout. Why would he do this to himself?

"Alex? What's going on?" I had no right to know but I still wanted to. I wanted to know why Alex was hurting.

"You got yourself a real keeper here Goldilocks." Drake flinched through the pain of his abdomen.

"Too bad she can never be yours champ."

"UGH!" Alex's fist flew right across my face and landed on Drake again.

"Ah!" I screamed at the fright off his hand mistakenly hitting me. Drew fell right on the floor looking like he could die at the moment.

A student had informed the school and an ambulance had already arrived. My eyes couldn't leave Drew's bloody and broken body. Blood was all over the floor, the ambulance gathered him and I watched him cough out blood before he started fading further away.

Alex grabbed onto my arms and was pulling me across the crowed. My body was still numb from the fright that grew inside me. I couldn't believe Alex would do this.

He almost hit me! Drew looked like he could die and Alex didn't even care. Now he was pulling me with him...why? So he could hurt me?

"Let me go!" I pulled my arm away from his and stepped back fearfully. His eyes grew shocked and immediately fell In defeat.

"What do you want to do to me?" I was almost in tears and tried to stay away from him as much possible. He was scaring me.

Before I could take any more steppes I was already feeling his hard body against mine. My cheeks rested on his broad shoulders while his arms trapped  under his abdomen.

His sent was slowly fading away from sweat and blood. And his heart pounded rapidly against my chest. His arms shook on my skin.

"I'm sorry." He sobbed. "I'm sorry you had to see that Ciara." My head went ghost silent. My thought became an empty field with silent winds racing across the and leaving screeching sounds.

My limbs grew weak at his embrace. "Alex?" I called into him before this feeling could get the best of me. My heart was falling slowly.

"Alex?" I called again, but he didn't let go. He was holding me into him and it's making me feel this I didn't imagine I would...

"Please. Ciara. You can't be scared of me."

"I'm not." I pulled him away to stare into his eyes, hoping I would find the-same feelings I just grew to realize. "I'm not scared of you. I just want to know why you did that to him."

He remained silent until I got to realize why he had done that. Without sparing any more of his tears I engulfed him in a tight hug. One that could make him stop crying.

I could hear the sound of his chest beat against mine again living every moment of it. I spent the last minute holding into him and feeling like my problems could actually come to an end.

He was definitely going through more than I was. Maybe he needs my help more than I need his and despite his other side I longed to be with him.

I was In love with Alex. I knew it the moment he looked up to my eyes again.
