Taehyung stood in front of Aaliyah's grave, his hands shaking as he read the letter over and over again, with each read his emotions numbing more and more. He could feel his feelings slipping away from him, something that had immediately started after his love lay on the pavement. He had buried her where her grave had already laid, making sure that she was laid next to her parents. He had changed her outfit, slipping her into an ivory-colored dress, her hair falling below her chest. Even in death, she was still the most beautiful person Taehyung had ever seen.
Taehyung,
If you're reading this, then I failed. I failed in killing you which means I am now officially six feet under the ground. For real this time. Don't take it personally Taehyung. I didn't feel like I could just forgive everything you did and complete our Perfect Match binding. I would have liked to if I'm being honest. But I couldn't let you get away with killing my parents. I'm sorry. Again.
I know you've always loved me. I remember the first time I realized you loved me. I was with your sister at the time, she was fourteen, you were twelve, and I had just turned thirteen. You gave me a rose that day, desperately trying to get me away from your sister. Miyeon had gotten annoyed at your constant badgering, but I had found it cute. I accepted your rose, and I remember you had the biggest smile on your face when I took it. You watched as I put it in a vase in my room, taking care of it until it withered away. That day, you told me that I was the only one for you, that it was only a matter of time until I fell in love with you. Miyeon looked just about ready to punch you when you said that proclamation. Unfortunately for her, you were right.
The look on your face when we first got matched is an expression I could never get off of my mind. Your eyes widened, sparkling wide and flooding with happiness. Your smile just as wide, if not bigger. I laughed at your reaction while Miyeon was fuming. I was secretly dating her at the time and she didn't like the fact that now her little brother had the one person she loved the most. I never got to thank you for saving me that day. If you hadn't been there, who knows what could have happened?
I've never hated you. I could never hate you. Hate is too strong of a word for me to use to describe what I feel for you. You hurt me a lot, but I also hurt you. Maybe that's just the way things were meant to be.
If I told you I loved you, I meant it. Yeah, you kidnapped me and all but I enjoyed spending time with you. The way you cared for me these past couple of weeks (i don't know i lost track of time) reminded me of the kid that first gave me that rose. I think I would have loved to pursue something with you. I know I was barren and all but I would have wanted a child with you. I would have named her Maedeline. I've always loved that name.
I'm sorry for trying to kill you all those years ago as well. I know it wasn't your fault Miyeon died but I was hurt and wanted to make sure you hurt with me. Taehyung, please stop whatever you're doing. All it's doing is hurting people. You're hurting Jungkook. You hurt me. It's not too late. I know that Jungkook would forgive you eventually. He would give you a second chance. Out of the both of us he was the most forgiving, the most sympathetic one.
Now that I'm dead, I guess you're losing your emotions. Don't do anything rash. As much as I would love to see you on the other side, it shouldn't be your time yet. Don't be dumb. Enjoy life for me, alright? I'll see you on the other side, in the future. Take care.
I love you!
— Jeon Aaliyah
p.s I also don't blame you for killing me. I knew it probably would have happened regardless. I guess you won in the end, Kim Taehyung.
Taehyung folded the note, tucking it neatly into his pocket, before walking back into the house. Everything was calm now as far as he could tell. The only thing that was changing was his world, becoming bleaker by the second. The mark on him was fading into gray, the only reminder of how much he loved Jeon Aaliyah. He watched himself in the mirror, his eyes losing the sparkle Aaliyah had mentioned, fading into nothing.
"I don't have anything to lose anymore," Taehyung mumbled to himself, tracing over his mark."Nothing."
His expression turned completely vacant. Taehyung looked at his hand before punching the mirror with all his force. He could see the shards of glass on his hands, the blood coming out, but he couldn't feel it. He didn't feel hurt, didn't feel the urge to call for help. All he could do was stare numbly at the mess he had done. He shrugged, going to wash his hand in the sink, before bandaging it carefully.
"Interesting." he said."I really can't feel anything. Amazing."
With that, he moved to his closet, changing into something more comfortable, the letter taken and put in his new attire. He would have what he wanted. And what he wanted right now, was to destroy everything Namjoon and Seokjin had built throughout their life. He wanted to restore everything to the way it was. The first thing he had to do was get rid of both Namjoon and Seokjin. then Yoongi and Hoseok and however many more same-sex matches lived without his noticing. Then, he would destroy the place they lived in, making sure no one in there left alive.
No one. Not even Jungkook.
⌛
Jungkook's hands were shaking as he unlocked the box that Yoongi had told him to unlock. Yoongi was sitting in what used to be Ruby's bed, watching Jungkook as he opened it. It had taken fourteen hours for Jungkook to be convinced to go to Ruby's room and look at her possessions, to go find the box with the lock that Yoongi insisted Ruby had told Jungkook to get.
Contents spilled all across the floor, much to Yoongi's surprise. He immediately bent down to pick them up, noticing that many of them, were pictures. From when Aaliyah had first carried Jungkook in her arms through all the years that she had been with him. He smiled softly at the smiles of happiness they had on their faces, Aaliyah staring lovingly at Jungkook. One, in particular, caught his attention. It was a picture of Aaliyah, standing happily next to Taehyung and Jungkook. They all had smiles on their faces, no trace of apathy or hatred.
Jungkook's hands were full of letters, lots of them. Each one addressed to him, from the time that Aaliyah had first left to the most recent one a little over a month ago. Yoongi placed a hand on Jungkook's shoulder.
"You don't have to read them right now." he whispered."Just keep them with you. Here. I picked up the photographs."
Jungkook smiled sadly at him, taking the photos gratefully before stashing them in the box. He put the letters in there and closed the box, picking it up. He looked at Yoongi and nodded, standing up. They walked out of the room. Yoongi could tell Jungkook had hardly gotten any sleep last night. His eyes were completely swollen from all the crying that he had done the day before. Yoongi knew it wasn't easy for Jungkook. He had witnessed seeing all of his family killed in front of him, all at different intervals. Having to deal with something like that, it was a wonder that Jungkook was able to walk around and engage in little conversations.
"Is it bad that I want to murder him?" Jungkook asked Yoongi. Yoongi looked at Jungkook in surprise, not expecting that type of question to come out of his mouth."I've had enough of Taehyung to last me a lifetime. He'd be better off dead."
"Jungkook, I can only imagine how you feel." Yoongi responded carefully."But you can't just kill him."
"Yes, I can. He almost killed you. If it weren't for Namjoon and Jin, you would be dead." Jungkook pointed out."If he can kill people the way he wants, then how come I cannot?"
"Jungkook, you're innocent. You're not thinking straight right now. Killing him could come back to haunt you in the future." Yoongi replied, watching Jungkook's expression not faltering."I'm sure anyone of us would do you the favor of killing him for you. We all have a motive. I'm sure Jimin would have no problem doing it for you. I know I don't have a problem killing him. He did almost kill me after all."
"But I want it to be me, not you." Jungkook scrunched his nose."Not you, not Hoseok, not Jimin, or Namjoon, or even Jin. Even me."
Yoongi said nothing, staring at the intensity burning in Jungkook's eyes. Although he was holding the box, his fingers were digging tightly into it, denting it. "Maybe, you shouldn't hurt the box. It's not Taehyung."
"I wish it was," Jungkook mumbled. Yoongi's bracelet lit up, immediately showing Hoseok who sighed in relief at Yoongi's sight.
"What's wrong?"
"Jungkook's with him right?" Yoongi could hear Jimin ask frantically in the background. "He's okay right?"
"Yes he's here. Wait what's going on?" Yoongi asked alarmed. He could see the panicked look in Hoseok's expression, Jimin appearing with a handful of weapons."Hoseok?"
"Taehyung's in the building."
Yoongi's eyes widened. "He's here?"
"Someone saw him in the security cameras and came to alert Jimin. We can't find him anywhere."
"He must be hidden by someone." Yoongi muttered. Jungkook stood still, not believing the words that were coming out of either person's mouth."Have you told Namjoon? Seokjin?"
"We can't contact either of them. We can pinpoint their location. I've already left Aaliyah and Reuben with the nurses, they're taking care of them as we speak." Hoseok said.
"Jimin, Jungkook, Hoseok, and Yoongi. Please report to the Alpha A training room." He heard Seokjin's voice in the speakers. "Failure to do so within the next minute will result in punishment. Bring only yourselves."
"We'll meet you there." Yoongi said hurriedly."Love you. Bye."
Yoongi grabbed Jungkook's hand, sprinting down the hallways to get to the training room as fast as he could. Jungkook stumbled behind, his mind still not fully processing everything. His arm now held the box tightly as Yoongi took him to the room.
By the time they got there, Jimin and Hoseok were already waiting for them. There were sighs of relief from both of them, going to embrace them quickly.
"Let's not do anything stupid." Yoongi said quietly."We have to time everything right."
The others nodded, opening the doors to the room. There, Namjoon was tied to a post, his expression burning with hatred. Taehyung stood in the middle, forcing a smile onto his face. Next to him, Seokjin stood, his eyes unlike anything Yoongi had seen before.
"Green eyes." Jungkook whispered, his gaze transfixed on Jin."Jin's gone."
Taehyung chuckled, the laugh sounding neither authentic nor real."A surprising turn of events isn't it? I bet you didn't expect this."
Yoongi pushed Jungkook behind him, standing in front of him in a protective manner. Taehyung paid no attention to the move.
"Welcome to the last day of our lives."
