Yoongi's mark wasn't glowing.
It wasn't glowing.
How?
Even through the clothes Hoseok had on, he could see the faint glow of his mark. It stood out as if it were a bruise, a bruise Hoseok couldn't get rid of. It was definitely affecting him.
So why wasn't it affecting Yoongi?
Hoseok stood there bewildered. Yoongi's expression remained stoic as he gazed coolly at Jimin, whose face was flushed with relief and embarrassment. His eyes sang from happiness, a small smile in his face. His boyfriend hadn't kissed his perfect match after all.
At least that's what he believed.
Jimin turned to Hoseok. "I'm sorry I doubted you. I'll trust you more from now on I promise."
Hoseok smiled back at him, masking his face to hide his uncertainty. Yoongi's bracelet rang.
"Reminder: Meet Ruby."
"I have to go. Ruby's showing me my new room and after that, I'll go start my training." Yoongi put his shirt back on."Nice talking to you both. I'll see you after my training."
"Wait, let me go with you." Hoseok said."I'll see you off."
"Jimin?" Yoongi asked. Jimin shrugged, worries gone from his face.
"Go for it. I don't have anything to worry about anyhow right?" he smiled again, before leaning to kiss Hoseok on the cheek."I'll see you soon. You still owe me a date."
With that, he left the room, leaving Yoongi and Hoseok alone. As soon as Jimin was out of ear range Hoseok turned to Yoongi.
"What the hell was that?"
"What the hell was what?" he questioned, staring at Hoseok with an unwavering expression on his face.
"You know...that." he gestured towards Yoongi's chest."And Jimin. What was that?"
"Let's talk on the way." Yoongi turned towards the hallway. Hoseok chased after him.
"How'd you do that?"
"It should be glowing right?" Yoongi hummed."Is it glowing for you? I'm sure it is. I bet you're surprised."
He stopped for a bit, his eyes landing squarely on Hoseok's chest. He nodded once before beginning to walk.
"I can see it. Your glow. It's brighter than I thought it was going to be. You can see it if you look hard enough."
"But why isn't yours glowing? That's—"
"Weird? Not right? Yeah, I'm aware." he paused, a thoughtful expression on his face. Finally, he said, "Mine does glow. I just have it suppressed. My glow was too strong. It was almost blinding. Yours was too. But because mine is suppressed your glow isn't as strong."
"How'd you do it?"
"I was with Ruby. She told me that there was a substance that I could take. Of course, nothing comes without repercussions." Yoongi responded."Using it dampens my connection to you. It doesn't stop your connection to me though."
"Doesn't that mean that you would be losing your feelings?"
When the mark was first placed in a pair of perfect matches, the mark took away all voluntary emotions that said pair could have. Once activated, the mark served as the keeper of the emotions, tying each person together so that they couldn't feel emotions on their own.
In other words, without the mark, you cannot have emotions.
"Well, I don't think it's too obvious right?" he offered a small smile."Although, now that I'm on it, I have to take it every week. If I don't, everything that the mark suppresses will resurface at a much more aggressive level. We don't want that do we?"
"How will you take it if you're going to be training?"
"I'll be given some by someone from the outside. It'll be fine. " Yoongi stated. He finally stopped walking, his gaze searching around."She said she'd be here."
"You two were having such an interesting conversation I just couldn't resist listening in."
Ruby appeared from the shadows, her face stern. She looked at Yoongi. "You're late."
"It wasn't my fault. I got wrapped up in boyfriend affairs." Yoongi responded. Ruby glared at Hoseok for a few moments before her eyes widened.
"Oh goodness, I forgot!" she cursed incoherently."Hoseok, you have to talk to Namjoon. He has an urgent matter to discuss with you. You two also have to talk about your child."
"But don't I have to go into training?" Yoongi asked. Ruby nodded.
"Yes, but we can push it back a few minutes. There's no real tell on how long you'll take in your training." Ruby grimaced."It's going to be hard especially for a civilian like you. Now, let's see your room."
She led them towards the Alpha A-wing, passing by her room and Namjoon's before stopping at the third and final door. Ruby gestured towards the door.
"It needs to open to your touch. No one else can open it unless you give them explicit permission and they're registered onto the system."
As soon as Yoongi pressed his palm against the doorframe it hummed in recognition and opened the door. Hoseok's jaw dropped as they stepped into his room.
His room was wonderful, to say the least.
The floor was pristine, marbled to the point where Hoseok could see his reflection on it. The walls were painted ombre style, cyan gradually turning into white. His bed was in the middle, extremely big and looking extremely inviting. There were two doors. Upon closer inspection, he realized Yoongi had a walk-in closet, bigger than his own, already filled with clothes.
The other door led to the bathroom, which rivaled the room itself. It had everything: a showerhead, a bathtub, and from the looks of it, it even had a hot tub installed.
There was a single window in the bathroom, one covered with a curtain. Everything was white here, the only exception being the black borders around the walls. It was pristine, clear.
Fit for someone with his role.
"Don't you think this is a bit much?" Yoongi asked, looking around quizzically.
"Nonsense. This is what I have, as well as Namjoon." Ruby responded, waving off his statement. "This is nothing."
"It looks nice," Hosoek commented."Definitely nicer than mines. And Jimin's."
"Enough marveling. Before Yoongi goes into training, Namjoon would like to quickly discuss the life of your child." Ruby's eyes crinkled."Or children. Come on. He's waiting for us in the Alpha A training room."
As they walked toward the Alpha A training room a heavy pit began to churn in Hoseok's stomach. He had narrowly escaped Jimin's wrath and hurt from the kiss. And now to tell him he was having a child with Yoongi, much less two? That would be enough to drive him insane.
Yoongi handled Jimin well. A little too well for Hoseok's liking if he were being honest. Could it be what he's taking the cause of his boldness? Maybe Yoongi always had that in him, he just never used them. When he first came in he was very timid. That's what he struck Hoseok as. An introvert, someone who observed but didn't speak. He didn't seem like he was used to confrontation or one for confrontation either.
And yet, that's what he did with Jimin today.
His behavior seemed to have changed since yesterday. Even his aura seemed to have tensed. It felt more guarded, more secure. Not that Hoseok minded, but it did feel weird. How did he change so fast? Hoseok had heard of some traits from the perfect match that could be picked up, but it took a while for said person to develop the other's habits. Maybe his Alpha A traits were activating. Whatever it was, one thing's for sure.
The Yoongi that had talked to Jimin was manipulative and cunning.
"Yoongi, Hoseok, you're here!" Namjoon smiled widely."I won't take too much of your time Yoongi. But Hoseok, after Yoongi goes into training we'll talk. For now, I just want to know, have you two decided on the gender of your child?"
"Does it matter?" Yoongi asked. Namjoon shook his head.
"It doesn't but I still wanted to give you two the choice," Namjoon replied. He raised an eyebrow."Unless you want one of each? That can happen as well."
"Twins?" Hoseok asked, the statement catching me off guard.
"You know how rare twins are?" Ruby asked."They used to be much more common in the twenty-first century."
"In my nineteen years of existence, I have never seen a pair of twins," Yoongi said quizzically. "Only single children."
"That would elevate the authenticity of your match." Namjoon nodded."Of course, it's always your choice."
"I don't mind." Yoongi shrugged."Twins. That's fine. Boy and girl."
Namjoon smiled. "Great. Hoseok?"
Hoseok knew he was just asking out of courtesy. Yoongi had already decided and because Yoongi was more powerful than he was in terms of rank, whatever Yoongi wanted overruled what he wanted.
"Yeah I'm fine with that," Hoseok mumbled, his mind flashing towards Jimin. How the hell was he going to explain this one?
"Then it's settled." Namjoon clapped his hands."You'll have about two months to decide the names. The faster these kids are made, the better."
"Time for your training Yoongi." Ruby nudged to him, one hand enclosed on a syringe. He nodded slowly, before walking with her. Namjoon and Hoseok followed after them.
Yoongi smiled as he followed Ruby's instructions. He sat down on the chair, resting his arms on it. Ruby and Namjoon carefully strapped his arms into the chair, repeating the same process with his feet. These were only safety precautions, to make sure that his body wouldn't get injured.
The body would get weak. After a while, you would need to nurture it with food, drink, and sleep, all of which slow down the training process. This is why the training is done in the mind. Your body lays in a dormant state, but your mind never gets tired. The mind is always awake which is why training in the subconscious is the most efficient way to train.
This also meant that all the pain that the person suffers through training does not actually happen. However, trainings like these are meant to break the mind and nurture the spirit. To bring out the warrior in the person, meaning the person before training is never the same after.
Granted, this did not mean that training with the body was not done. After training, it is imperative for the individual to maintain constant training. The training after the main one is always given by Jimin, meaning after Yoongi finished with his training, he would also have to deal with Jimin then.
Although Hoseok doesn't tell him that.
"Good luck," Hoseok said, smiling at him."You'll do well."
Namjoon finished strapping Ruby onto the chair next to Yoongi's. Yoongi's smile waned at the sight of all the restraints.
"When I heard training, I did not have this in mind." Yoongi motioned at his restraints. Namjoon grimaced.
"This training is engineered to break you. It'll change who you are. Be warned." he stated."This training is specifically for those of rank Alpha A. You will not be the person you are now. You'll experience your fears, learn how to fight, survival skills, and anything that you have to learn."
Yoongi nodded. "Got it."
Namjoon handed Hoseok a syringe."You know what to do."
He grabbed the syringe with ease, walking towards Yoongi. He watched as Hoseok's eyes traveled downwards, to the base of his neck. Hoseok gently pressed his fingers towards the spot, looking at Namjoon to confirm. Namjoon nodded.
"Be gentle." Yoongi grimaced. At his tone, Hoseok smiled softly, his heart warming at him. Hoseok removed his fingers and replaced them with the syringe. Yoongi took a sharp breath as the serum entered his system.
Yoongi turned to Hoseok, his eyes flashing electric blue. His lips were parted slightly, drawing fast, irregular breaths.
"I'll see you on the other side," Hoseok said lightly, letting his fingers run through his hair. He nodded, breath stilling and his eyes closing. Before closing his eyes completely, Hoseok knelt and pressed his lips quickly against Yoongi's knowing he wouldn't be able to respond. He was drifting into unconsciousness, readying himself for what lay ahead.
Hoseok took a second to look at his peaceful state, one that would disappear in a few. Unable to resist, Hoseok gave him a little peck on the cheek before finally saying his goodbyes. Namjoon watched silently from the distance, waiting for Hoseok. Once Hoseok was done, he approached Namjoon. Namjoon nodded at him curtly.
"Let's talk, Hoseok."
a/n: be warned. this training will completely alter yoongi in more ways than one. ya'll might not like the change one bit. i know because many other readers didn't like the change.
