Jungkook dug his heel into the shoulder of Yoongi's mother, pushing her down onto the ground. Anger flared in Yoongi, and he took a step forward almost taking another one before Hoseok pulled him back, as if in warning. Yoongi's jaw clenched as he saw the way that the President was treating her.
"The lovely Rhea here was planning on assassinating my entire staff, including myself," He said, "Fortunately, we were able to figure out their plans in time. After their deaths, the rebel cause will be no more."
Hoseok tugged on Yoongi's sleeve, motioning for Yoongi to follow him. Taking one last look at his parents, Yoongi followed Hoseok out of the crowd.
"We know that there is one among you right now planning on assassinating me at this moment."
Yoongi felt Hoseok stiffen beside him at the mention of those words.
"That's right. One among you is planning on assassinating me," he spoke loudly, "and if you don't come out right this minute, my men will be forced to shoot the crowd until every single one is dead."
"Yoongi, Hoseok! Get out of there!" the person in Yoongi's earpiece yelled. "We can't have you two dying."
"But the innocents..." Yoongi mumbled, watching all their expressions morphing into worry. "We can't let them die."
"They're not your concern." they replied, "You two staying alive is. In about a minute, we'll have rescued Jimin and made it impossible for them to find anyone."
"Yoongi, come on." Hoseok whispered, "we have to go."
Yoongi shook his head. "I can't have these innocents dying."
Releasing himself out of Hoseok's grip, Yoongi sprinted towards the crowds, pushing his way to the front. Yoongi heard Hoseok calling his name, but he ignored it, moving forward.
I can't let these people die because of me.
"That's fine. If no one wants to own up, I guess you'll all have to die." Jungkook shrugged. "Soldiers-"
"Stop!" Yoongi yelled as he finally made his way to the front. "It's me. I was going to kill you."
Immediately a pair of hands grabbed him and forced him forward, throwing Yoongi in front of his parents. His mother's eyes widen at seeing Yoongi, her face paled considerably, lower lip beginning to tremble. Yoongi's father looked at him with sad eyes, a dejected expression on his face. Yoongi's eyes flickered towards Jimin's cold ones, his eyebrow raised at the decision. His face looked troubled as if he was trying to decipher why Yoongi would risk himself the way he did.
Jungkook looked at Yoongi with an amused expression on his face. He stood up only for the guards to step forward menacingly. Jungkook held up his hand to stop the guards from closing in on Yoongi. He walked towards Yoongi, who held his stance, staring at him directly in the eyes. His eyes burned with malice, lips turned upwards in a smirk. Yoongi's hands wrapped around his gun.
"Let me show you what happens to people who try to go against me," Jungkook said, showing the gun that was hidden by his robes.
But Yoongi was prepared.
Without hesitation, Yoongi took his gun and pulled the trigger. Out of the corner of his eyes, he sees Hoseok pulling Jimin to safety. Jungkook staggered back at the impact, Yoongi providing him with no mercy. He fired his gun once more. Then again, and again, and again, and again, until hands forced the gun out of Yoongi's hand. In seconds, Yoongi fell to the floor, feeling pain hit him in arms.
Then the sound of an explosion turned everything into a bright white light. Yoongi shut his eyes as he felt the arms that were holding him captive let go. When Yoongi opened his eyes again, he found himself in a grey, windowless room. The door opened, revealing a man in his twenties, whose silver hair covered his eyes.
"Follow me. The President is waiting for you," he stated. Yoongi stood up, walking towards him silently.
After what felt like an eternity, he opened a door and motioned for Yoongi to enter. Yoongi walked in, coming face to face with the President.
Jungkook smiled politely at him, smile not reaching any other part of his face than his lips.
"Min Yoongi," he stated, "I believe you know why you are here."
Yoongi nodded, his jaw clenching. "Where are they?"
"I'm surprised you haven't seen them yet," he replied, gesturing towards the side of the wall. Yoongi turned to the direction, his stomach dropping when he saw them.
Yoongi's parents on the left side, two men holding guns to their heads.
"And that's not all," Jungkook whispered in Yoongi's ear, "Look to your right."
As soon as he turned to the right, Yoongi's heart dropped completely. Terror washed over Yoongi as he saw a familiar pair of brown eyes. Only those brown eyes weren't lively anymore— they were puffed red, with tears leaking out of them. Bile rose in his throat as Yoongi looked at Hoseok's battered state.
Beaten, bloody, bruised, with a knife to his throat.
"What did you do to him?" Yoongi breathed, his voice shaking with fury. Jungkook chuckled, patting Yoongi on the back.
"What I do to anyone who conspires against me."
"Let them go." Yoongi turned to Jungkook. He stood still, the same smile still gracing his face. Fury built up inside him and he took a threatening step towards Jungkook. "I said, let them go!"
"It all depends on you," he replied coolly. "Taehyung, give Yoongi the drink." Wordlessly, Taehyung walked towards Yoongi, placing the drink on his hand. "Now Yoongi, here are your three choices. Depending on what you choose will determine who lives and who dies."
"How do I know I have your word?"
"I would never go back on my word. My parents taught me better than that," Jungkook answered. "Are you ready to hear your choices?"
Yoongi nodded.
"Choose. Your parents or your match. Choose your parents, my guard slits Jung Hoseok's throat. Choose your match, both of your parents will get shot."
"What if I just killed you instead?" Yoongi threatened. Jungkook's smile widened.
"Do that and everyone dies. As soon as the guards see me fall, they have been given the order to kill them," Jungkook placed his hands on Yoongi's shoulders. "Or, you could save them. All of them."
"How?"
"I gave you that for a reason. If you want to save all of them, drink it." Jungkook replied smoothly. "You'll die in their place."
"N-no Yoongi." Yoongi looked at Hoseok, who was struggling to talk. "Don't do it. Save your parents."
"No Yoongi, we've already lived our lives," his mother responded, "Save your match instead."
Tears began to well in Yoongi's eyes. He looked at each of them, his brain trying to make the right decision. None of them were good options. All of them resulted in someone dying.
Kill his parents, Hoseok lives. But how could Yoongi live without his parents?
Kill Hoseok, his parents live. But how could Yoongi live without his perfect match?
Yoongi couldn't do it.
He held the drink tighter, eyes looking at Hoseok and his parents frantically, trying to permanently engrave their appearances in his memory. It would be the last time he would see any of them.
"Min Yoongi, what's your choice?"
Tears rolled down his cheeks, numbly raising the cup.
"I'm sorry," Yoongi breathed, bringing the drink to his lips, "I can't."
"No!"
The liquid burned Yoongi's throat. He fell to his knees, looking at them one last time. Hoseok's tear stricken face. His parents, yelling in sorrow.
"I'm sorry."
🌟
Yoongi's eyes opened, letting out an audible gasp as he lurched forward, feeling sick to his stomach. The blood was rushing through his ears, heart racing against his chest as he took hard, deep breaths.
"I'm guessing your test went well, considering it didn't take long for you to finish it."
Hoseok smiled at Yoongi warmly as he entered the room.
"Jimin went to get your results," his smile widened. "Although, you could always ask me to check your file. I can easily pull it up as the test should have already filed your ranking and division."
Yoongi declined his offer, stating that he wanted to find out on his own. Yoongi was in no hurry to know what division and rank he was in, especially since he did not know what most of the division and ranks meant. It wasn't a priority for him to do so.
Hoseok walked Yoongi out of the testing room, interrogating him about what he had encountered during the test. To his distaste, Yoongi left his responses vague, as most of the test had had him in it, and that wasn't something Yoongi was going to admit to him. At least not yet.
"Here are your test results!"
Jimin held an envelope in his hand, one that had Yoongi's name written neatly on it. Yoongi took it from Jimin's hands, fingers clutching it tightly.
"What division do you think he was placed in?" Jimin asked Hoseok.
"He seems like a humanitarian to me, more than anything," Hoseok responded, half-smiling at Yoongi, "Not that it's a bad thing Yoongi."
Yoongi shrugged. "Humanitarian would be fine by me. Sounds alright."
Hoseok and Jimin nodded. "You would fit well with the humanitarians."
Yoongi opened the envelope. Hoseok and Jimin inched closer, wanting to see the results.

"Okay, seriously, what were your simulations?" Hoseok asked, surprised. "I was not expecting that."
Jimin let out a low whistle. "Well, what do you know? I guess leaders do come from unexpected people."
"This could not have played out better," Hoseok sighed, "They'll be so excited to hear that you're going to be joining their team now."
"Who?"
"You've already met Ruby. She's in the same class and division as you. I'm sure she'll be ecstatic," Jimin cut in, "As for the others, you'll find out later today."
"For now, you should get some sleep," Hoseok suggested. "Later, we'll give you everything you'll need."
"I'll see you two later. Alphas are having a meeting at around ten in the morning. By now they'll have heard the news of his results." Jimin responded.
"How come?"
"Every time someone takes the Test, their results are immediately sent to every division's Alpha," he explained. "I got the notification too, but I did not open it."
"Goodnight Jimin." Hoseok smiled at him. Jimin returned the smile, kissing him rapidly on the cheek. Yoongi frowned at the action, which did not go unnoticed by Hoseok. After saying goodnight, Jimin walked to his room. After he left, Hoseok turned to Yoongi.
"Let's go to bed."
Yoongi nodded, following him back to his room silently.
a/n: in his tests, there were 3 different scenarios, the one with the food, the execution one, and the life or death. i know i said i'd only do five chapters today, but i've kinda been doing this nonstop, and i'm on a roll so we'll see how it goes.
