Chapter 27
I closed my eyes, curling up with Frank. It was the first time I actually got a good night's sleep. I hummed softly, kissing his cheek.
"You're in a good mood," he remarked sleepily.
"I am," I said. "I slept really well."
"I'm glad," he said.
I sighed quietly and giggled, pressing my lips against his. Frank pulled me close, tickling me. I laughed and squirmed and he turned us over to tickle me. My heart stopped, my chest seemingly closing in as I forgot how to breathe. Suddenly I was being pinned down to the bed by Frank.
"N-No!" I cried. "Stop!"
Frank pulled away quickly, looking at me in concern.
"Baby, a-are you okay?" He asked.
I sniffled, curling up into myself.
"Baby," he whispered.
He reached out, slowly holding my hand. His thumb gently rubbed against the back of my hand. He pulled me into his lap, holding me close. Frank cradled me in his lap, running his fingers through his hair.
"I'm sorry," he whispered. "I didn't mean to."
He wiped away my tears and I sniffled. One of the babies started crying and I looked over. I picked Lily up and shushed her softly. Frank held my hips from behind gently, nervous of how I might react.
"You don't need to cry, Lily Bear, Mommy's here," I whispered.
Lily calmed down, curled up in my arms.
"We're gonna have to go back to school soon," Frank said sadly.
"I know," I mumbled.
"Registration is in a few days," he said.
I nodded and he kissed the back of my neck gently.
"You okay?" He asked and I nodded.
I put Lily back into the playard and she cooed as she looked up at me. I grabbed some clothes and looked at Frank nervously before heading to the bathroom to change. Frank followed me in and I whimpered.
"Baby, come on, why won't you let me see you naked anymore?" He asked.
"Because I don't look good anymore," I said quietly.
"What are you talking about?" He asked. "You're absolutely gorgeous."
I shook my head. "Not since the kids."
Frank played with the hem of my shirt and looked at me for permission. I nodded and he pulled my shirt off. He turned me around to look in the mirror, standing behind me with his hands on my hips. I looked at my maroon colored nursing bra and Frank's Steelers pajama pants that I was wearing. I scowled at my stomach, my eyes watering.
"You have such an amazing body," he whispered. "Every inch of you is just perfect. I love your little tummy, it's adorable."
"It's not," I mumbled. "It's got ugly stretch marks and it's still just flabby and gross."
"It is not," he denied. "Your stretch marks are beautiful, they're kind of like snowflakes, each one is unique and different and they're so beautiful when you look close."
I sniffled, looking at him in the mirror.
"And your stomach isn't just flabby and gross," he said. "It's beautiful, so beautiful, just like all the rest of you. So what if your stomach is a little pudgy? I love every inch of it."
I wiped my eyes and he smiled softly.
"I love you," he whispered.
"I love you too," I said.
Frank ran a hand through his dark, shoulder length hair. He leaned forward, pressing his lips against mine.
"I'll go make breakfast if you want," he said.
I nodded and he wrapped his arms around me.
"I love you," he whispered. "I am so fucking lucky to have you, you're the most beautiful girl in the whole world."
I smiled, resting my head on his shoulder. Frank held me close, running his fingers through my hair. I gave him a soft kiss before I pulled away.
"Okay, I'm hungry now," I said.
Frank nodded, heading out to the kitchen. I got dressed and did my makeup before I went back to the bedroom. Lily was asleep but Cherry was cooing as she played with her feet. I picked her up and she smiled at me.
"Hey there," I cooed. "You happy to see me?"
Cherry smiled, clutching onto my shirt.
"Let's go see what daddy is making," I said.
We walked to the kitchen and Frank smiled, giving Cherry a kiss. She smiled happily and I laid her underneath her baby play gym, little mat with an arch of hanging toys.
"What's for breakfast?" I asked.
"I am making omelettes," he said.
I smiled, sitting next to Cherry. She looked up at the hanging, colorful toys as she smiled. I heard crying from the other room and went over to grab Lily. I bounced her lightly, calming her down.
"Come here, babygirl, it's okay," I said.
She eventually stopped crying and I changed her diaper. I wiped her nose and set her down next to Cherry.
"Here you go, Beautiful," Frank said.
He handed me a plate and we sat at the couch as we ate, watching tv together. I watched as Lily looked to her sister and started pressing her hand to her cheek. Cherry of course reacted by opening her mouth and started sucking her fingers. Lily cried, practically screaming because her hand was in her sister's mouth. I pulled her hand away and that only made Cherry start crying. We tried to calm them down as they both screamed, our breakfast long forgotten on the coffee table.
"It's okay, Lily Bear," Frank said.
I held Cherry close to me and she started calming down.
"I think they might be hungry," he said.
I sighed as Frank got the nursing pillow and I fed them. Frank fed me my breakfast and I smiled happily.
"You're so sweet," I said.
"You're sweeter," he said, kissing my forehead.
I grinned as I looked down at both my daughters.
"These little babies are the sweetest," I said.
"I can't argue with that," he said, gently caressing Cherry's head, which was just about the size of his hand. "My little babies are gonna stay young and sweet forever."
"What about when they're teenagers and they start dating?" I asked.
"No, that's not gonna happen," Frank denied. "They aren't gonna date anyone, not boys or girls or anyone. I'm gonna protect them, not gonna let them get hurt."
I smiled, feeling him rest his head on my shoulder.
"I love you," I said.
"Love you too," he mumbled, gently rubbing his thumb against Cherry's cheek.
She turned her head, looking around as she grinned. He chuckled and leaned down to give her a kiss. She waved her arms before going back to latch onto me. Frank changed the channel, leaning back on the couch. I finished feeding the girls and sighed as Frank took them so I could fix my clothes.
"Let's go on a walk again," I said. "It would be good for the babies to go outside. And I wanna use the moby wraps, we haven't used them yet."
Frank nodded and we grabbed the moby wraps. They were essentially pieces of cloth that wrapped around my body and kept the babies close to my chest, kind of like a baby bjorn but more comfortable and kept them closer to my skin.
"Okay, Do you want the pink or purple?" I asked.
"Well obviously pink, it brings out the color in my eyes," Frank said.
I giggled and handed he pink one to him. He put it on and placed Lily inside. She cooed quietly as she smiled. I took Cherry into my own moby wrap and kissed the top of her head.
"Okay, let's go outside and get some exercise," I said.
Frank chuckled and we walked out. It was sunny outside and thankfully warm despite the rapidly decreasing temperatures. We walked around for a bit before we decided to stop at a little cafe for lunch.
"Oh, Genevieve, Frank, how are you two doing?" Someone asked.
I looked up from my salad at the person standing beside our table. It was our old first hour teacher.
"How are you two doing?" She asked. "Oh, these must be the babies, they're so adorable. Will I be seeing you two at school in a few weeks?"
I looked at Frank and he nodded but I was a bit more unsure.
"Well, I have to get going but I'll see you in a few weeks," she said before walking off.
I smiled, holding Frank's hand across the table.
"I love you," I said. "You're so gorgeous."
"Thanks, Baby," He said with a small chuckle.
Frank finished eating and pulled Lily out of the wrap. He played with her quietly and I finished eating just a little bit after. Frank threw our trash away and sighed as he helped Lily back into her wrap. She smiled up at her dad, letting out soft cops.
"You're so adorable," Frank muttered.
"You look adorable with a baby strapped to your chest," I said.
"You think?" He asked and I giggled as I nodded. "Good because I was thinking about making it a look. You know, me and the twins are gonna be on the next cover of Vogue for the hot Autumn look of babies strapped to your chest. You can join to if you think you can handle the pressure of being a star like moi."
Frank emphasized this by flipping his short hair back and I giggled, kissing his cheek.
"God, I love you so much," I said. "You're so amazing and perfect and funny."
He held my hand as we walked down the street together.
"Frank, I don't know whether or not I should go back to school," I mumbled. "Maybe I can just get my GED so that way I can stay home with the kids. It'd be too difficult with pumping and having someone else watch them."
"Baby, are you sure?" He asked. "I would support whatever you choose but are you really sure?"
"I don't know," I mumbled. "I want to but at the same time it's just, like, this is my high school degree."
"Maybe you can just go to school for a little bit and if it's really too difficult then you can drop out," he suggested.
I nodded my head, glad that I finally had a plan.
