Chapter 11

~~

Frank held my hand as people came in with gifts wrapped in pink boxes. I smiled, holding Frank's hand. The baby shower started and we all talked and laughed.

"You're getting so big!" Frank's grandpa said.

I smiled, resting a hand on my stomach.

"I know, and Lily is getting even more restless now," I said. "She's always kicking and moving around."

I gave him a hug before sitting on the couch. I sighed quietly, a hand resting on my stomach. I ate happily as we all just talked and laughed. At his mom's request, frank hooked his laptop up to the tv and played the videos and showed the photos to everyone. They all smiled and cooed while I held Frank's hand.

"I bet that girl is gonna be a jock," Lindsey said. "She's active!"

I giggled, nodding my head.

"Maybe she'll be a ballerina," I said. "I remember when I was little I wanted to be a ballerina. My mom would buy me hundred dollar slippers and two hundred dollar dresses and put me in super expensive classes but then I never really wanted to learn I just wanted to wear the pretty outfits."

She chuckled softly, holding my hand.

"You really doing okay?" She asked.

"Yeah, I'm scared but I guess I'm fine," I said. "But really, I think that so far I'm doing pretty good."

She smiled, kissing my cheek.

"And Frank has been here with you for everything?" She asked. "Because if he wasn't then I'll beat his ass."

"No, he's been amazing," I said. "God, I love him so much."

I looked over at Frank as he talked with his grandpa on the other side of the room. He looked happy and excited as he waved his hands around as he talked. He was a big hand talker and I thought it was so cute. His tattooed hands were beautiful, designed intricately with little tattoos that each had their own meaning.

"And he's perfectly okay with raising these kids?" Jamia asked.

"Yeah, here, I wanna go show you upstairs to the cribs," I said. "They're sleeping up in Frank's room with us."

I went upstairs and showed them the cribs as they cooed.

"This is such an adorable little set up!" Jamia exclaimed.

"I know, I can't wait until these babies are here," I said. "I just wanna be able to cuddle them already."

"How are you gonna go to school?" She asked. "You're gonna be so tired staying up all night with the babies."

"I know but we'll make it work," I said. "We know that it'll be tough, we do understand that. But we will make it work."

Jamia smiled, kissing my cheek.

"Come on, we should go back down," I said. "I just wanted to show you this because Frank set it up and it's so adorable."

We went back down and Linda had us starting to open presents. Frank and I opened gifts filled with little pink outfits, bottles, diapers, toys and stuffed animals.

"Can we have cake now?" I asked. "I'm hungry."

"Wait, there's one more gift," Frank said. "This one is from me, it's my push gift for you."

I looked at him in confusion as he reached into his pocket. He pulled out a little silver ring with a tiny little diamond heart and I felt my heart stop.

"Wh-what is this?" I asked. "Frank, I'm sixteen, I can't marry you."

"It's not an engagement ring," he said. "It's a promise ring. A promise that one day we are gonna get married. A promise to always love each other."

People around us awed and I smiled.

"I love it, of course I'll promise myself to you," I said.

"You can't wear the ring now but you'll be able to soon," he said.

He pulled out his own silver band and slipped it onto the ring finger on his left hand.

"I got you a little chain to put it on until the babies are born," he said.

He looped the small, silver chain into the center of the ring and put it around my neck.

"It's beautiful," I whispered.

I smiled, giving him a soft kiss.

"Okay, are you ready for cake now?" Linda asked.

"Yes!" I exclaimed. "I'm starving!"

Frank got the cake from the kitchen and set it down on the coffee table that we all surrounded. I smiled, when I saw the pink tiered cake with white polka dots. On top were two little pacifiers, one pink and one purple. The pink pacifier was surrounded by cherries while the purple had little candy lillies around it.

"This is so nice, where'd you get it from, Linda?" I asked.

"A friend of mine is a baker," she said. "This cake was a baby shower gift for Frank since she couldn't be here. Plus there's the pacifiers too for the girls."

"Tell her I said thank you," I said.

Frank cut me a piece and I smiled, taking a bite.

"It's so good," I muttered.

Rich, chocolate cake made my taste buds dance.

"This is so good," Frank said. "Is this the same lady who used to make cakes on my birthday?"

"It is," she said.

"It's fucking delicious," he said.

I giggled and Frank fed me a bite of the cream filling.

"Can she be our personal chef?" I asked.

Linda chuckled. "I'll tell her you two loved the cake."

"Gee, what are you naming the babies?" Jenna, my friend, asked.

"We are naming the two of them Cherry and Lily," I said. "And they are gonna be the sweetest little babies."

Frank held my hand, kissing my cheek.

"Those names are so adorable," Jamia said.

"I know, they're gonna be so beautiful and perfect, I know that," I said.

"They are," she agreed.

Frank squeezed my knee gently and I smiled.

"And if you need a babysitter I'll be here for you," Lindsey said. "I would love to be able to watch these little cuties."

"Okay but I'm not sure if I'm ever gonna be able to let them go by the time they're here," I said. "I just wanna cuddle them forever."

"I remember when I had Frank, I wouldn't let him go," she said. "I even dropped out of school just so I could take care of him. He used to go to a daycare when his grandpa was busy with work. I found out that they wouldn't pay a lot of attention to Frank and would just leave him in a crib screaming for hours even though he was hungry. I dropped out of school to take care of him, I didn't trust anyone else with my baby. There's something about having a baby that I think makes moms go a bit crazy, like a mama bear not letting anyone near her little cubs."

"That will probably be me," I agreed, nodding my head.

I ate quietly before getting a second slice.

"I feel like I'm just getting bigger and bigger," I said.

"How far along are you?" Jenna asked.

"I am twenty-two weeks and five days," I said. "I'm more than halfway done now."

"And then we're gonna have two little beautiful babies," Frank. "I still can't believe I'm gonna be a father, I'm gonna have two daughters."

"You're gonna be a great dad," Jamia said, squeezing his hand.

"And I'll be here in case either of you ever need anything," Frank Sr. said. "I can't believe I'm gonna have two great-grandkids already. I am only fifty-six. You all keep having kids so young I'm only middle-aged and I'm gonna be a great-grandpa."

"Well, you'll be the young, super fun grandpa," Linda said. "I'm thirty-three and I'm gonna be a damn grandmother."

"Young, super fun grandmother," Frank pointed out.

I giggled happily, holding Frank's hand.

"I'm gonna get you some water, sweetheart," Frank said.

He left and I sighed, putting my feet up onto the coffee table. He came back with some water and I sighed gratefully.

"I can't wait until I can dress them in these cute little outfits," I said, looking at one of the pink, frilly dresses.

"Are you gonna take maternity photos?" Lindsey asked.

I gasped. "I didn't even think about that! Oh my god, we should do maternity photos. We should do it now, too, just before I get too big. I'm already almost the size of a full term mom with one baby."

"I'll take some photos later," Linda said. "We can do it before your lamaze class next week."

"You're going to a lamaze class?" Jamia asked and I nodded. "That sounds like fun, I think you two are gonna be the youngest people there."

"Probably," Frank agreed. "But it would be really good for us to go, we really need to learn about all these baby stuff because we're both so young and we really don't know a lot."

"I think babies are just adorable," Jamia said. "When I'm married I wanna have a couple of cute little kids."

"Our kids can be best friends!" I gasped.

"Oh man, that would be so cool," she agreed. "My babies can have other little baby friends."

I smiled, looking down at the ring around my neck. One day Frank and I were going to get married, we were promised to each other now.

The party ended and I sighed as I gave everyone hugs.

"Frank, can you help me with the gifts?" Linda asked.

They carried everything upstairs and I helped them fold stuff and put the clothes into the new dresser in the corner. My clothes were mixed into the closet and the dresser but I was a little shopaholic with my credit card. I before had a big walk in closet filled with clothes. Most of that stuff was now just kept in boxes in Linda's basement. We had moved a lot of my stuff from my old house here but since their house is already so small and cramped already it was being stored in the basement.

"Frank, can you help me clean up downstairs?" Linda asked.

"I can help," I offered.

"That's okay, sweetheart," Linda said. "You're probably tired, you can get some sleep if you want."

I smiled softly, kissing her cheek. I curled up in bed and Frank tucked me in. i smiled as Frank kissed my forehead and I quickly fell asleep.
