It's difficult to catch a black cat in the dark room

I sat on the chair in front of the mirror while maids around me were moving around the room in hurry. They were getting me ready for the day as few guests were supposed to visit us today. I looked in the mirror and observed myself. The vibrant blue of the dress matched my eyes and the half braided hair gave me an elegant look. They applied rogue on my cheeks make me more young and vibrant.

They were doing their best to make me look beautiful but I wasn't in the mood. I should have been appreciative for their efforts in normal but now I am not. I am still in daze after seeing that silhouette last night. It disappeared in to thin air after I saw it and I didn't feel it once after it. Prince Jin was worried as he saw my condition but I told him I am tired.

"Princess Y/n" the voice of a bewildered servant made me snap out of my thoughts. I spun around and looked at the servant who called me. He clutched stack of papers in hand and glanced at the maids who left immediately leaving us alone. "I greet your highness" he kneeled on the ground and greeted me. "You can raise" he got up and handed me the papers that were with him.

"Amera check on the door"

"Tell me" I asked him once she said it is safe. "Princess, General sent a message for you" he took out a secret letter from his pocket and handed it to me. I took the letter from him and scanned the contents of the letter quickly. "Any order for your servant Princess?" I halted him with a hand and he waited on the left for my command. "What is your name?" he was dressed in military uniform with an armor and a sword placed in his waist band.

He looked muscular with stone face and firm jaw. Though he looked rough he didn't seem to be over twenty five. With his looks he could easily pass as noble except the scar on his face. He has small scar which is of two inch long from his left side eye to his ear. It gave him an aura of villain. "My name is William Princess Y/n"

"How long have you been working here?" he hesitated to answer. "I am sure Jungkook wouldn't mind this answer since he trusted my safety to you" Jungkook specially informed me that William will be taking care of the security here. I didn't get his full details but Amera has already met him so this is my first official meeting with him. "I have been here for seven years"

"Which part?" I asked him curiously. "I have joined as military guard then promoted to be palace guard two years later. I am working as Captain of the royal guards" in the palace they have different positions. They are handled by different offices as designated. Army here is handled by Taehyung and royal guards would be working under the office of palace security. "Does Prince Jin aware of your identity?" I don't think he should know about this one. "He isn't aware princess" that is good. I am not sure how much I can trust him. The fact he hid about his sister is enough to tell me that he doesn't believe me compltelty so I should do the same. "Tell me about the royal family"

Last night I realized I don't know everything about the royal family here or yet the queen Y/n place. I have to aware of everything for my plans to succeed. "The king has been crowned the throne at eighteen" I listened to his story intently. The king has three wives just like I was told. His wife was previous empress who is also the mother of the crown prince. He was the eldest child of the king. Both mother and son died few years back.

Second wife who is a concubine is the mother of Second Prince Thomas. Thomas was engaged to Ina and later he died in a war. William said he has a twin sister who is they were calling eldest princess. "Where is his mother?" though she is not the empress she has support of few people in the court. "She fell ill after hearing the news about Prince Thomas. She mostly stays in her chamber and rarely comes out"

"What else?" I already know the king third wife is Prince Jin and Prince Taehyung mother and they don't have anyone favor. As she is married of from a small tribe as peace offering no one favored her in the court. His mother doesn't worry about power either but the empress and Crown Prince Marcel wants to eliminate the threat for them. Even if they don't want the crown they will be killed or punished in some way soon. That is why Prince Jin is working hard to gather the favor court officials now. even though he is not from elite background, lack of Princes in the palace made few of the noble families to choose him. "The king has one more son but no one talk about him"

"Who is it?" he pointed to picture in the stack of papers. "His mother is a palace maid and people say the king had some feelings for her. So to avoid the conflicts with current empress he secretly hid her in the palace. But once the baby was born she learned about the affair and tried to kill her. The king managed to save the kid but their mother died in the attack. "Where is that kid now?"

"No one knows about it" so they can be a key to the throne. Prince Jin said he didn't like his wives or kids at all. So if the king really had affection for his wife then that means he must be of importance. "Find out about him. I need all the details you can get on him" he nodded and was about to leave. "Did eldest princess ever married?"

"She was wedded to the Crown Prince of neighboring kingdom but after a year she returned as the crown prince died in the war" it must be the war her brother led. I heard Thomas killed the crown prince of neighbor country in the war which caused a quite roar. He must have done it for his sister.

It's been hardly three months I have transmigrated but it felt like eternity. In future I have been educated about the history of our empire and neighboring countries when I was kid. I have visited their countries multiple times on official work with my father. But I have never heard about Luminar kingdom. After the death of Queen Y/n, Crown Prince Marcel took over the kingdom and he was killed later by Prince Hoseok who then became the ruler.

Due to the treachery of Crown Prince Marcel, Hoseok decided to erase him from the records completely. Hence everything about him and his siblings has been erased. I wasn't aware of his family members including Prince Jin and Prince Taehyung. All their accomplishments and betrayals have been buried deep in the crumbles of their kingdom. Sole reason for it was Crown Prince Marcel.

Due to this I didn't get information about them. The only things I learned were from my grandfather who used to tell me the stories of queen Y/n. Now that I am here I cannot solely depend on the stories he has told me. I have to gather more information about them so I can prevent any dangers before it happens.

Initially my plan was to stay for two days here but it seems like I have to delay my journey further. I have few tasks which have to be completed before I leave. "Where is Evelyn?" I wanted to ask Prince Jin help in sending her back but I don't want to disclose her identity to him now. "She is still sleeping in the room"

"Get her up and ready her" I informed Prince Jin that I want to go for sightseeing. He already told me that Ina will meet me in the evening so he agreed with my plan. He can entertain the guests all by himself as I don't have the mood to be fake smiling today. I waited until Evelyn got ready then we both went out with William and other guard of mine. "William will arrange your journey back home" Evelyn frowned as she heard my words. "I have a task for you"

"Pass this letter to Jungkook for me" her eyes lit up at the mention of his name. "Is he coming?" I shook my head. "I will arrange two guards to escort you out of the city and you will meet Jungkook in the north city on your way back home" Jungkook is traveling north and conveniently Evelyn kingdom is at north too. This would ease my work. I can't trust others with this job but Evelyn is perfect for it. "What does it contain?" she asked curiously but I just looked at her. "Fine, I won't ask anything" she said dejectedly before placing in her pocket.

"Be safe" she smiled giving me hug catching me off guard. "You stay safe" her gentle voice made me smile. I moved the curtain of the carriage and nodded at William. "We will stop at the tea place. I will send Miss Evelyn with the guards from back door" I am sure the queen sent her people to spy on me so we are taking caution to avoid her involvement with Evelyn.

"Take care of Miss and make sure of her safety Henry" William ordered his subordinate whose name I learned Henry. He nodded and left with other person William assigned. "Take care. I will see you soon" she nodded and followed quietly behind them. Once she left I waited for Ina in the tea place. I looked up when I heard the door open. I was expecting Ina but the person entered wasn't her.
