I Am A "Good Girl"
"When you look me in my eyes tell me what do you see. You are looking at a girl but that girl isn't me."
Like I stated earlier at school I am sweet, quiet, smart and shy.......Yet I'm not the one to pick with.
Every morning I wake up it's the same routine. I set my alarm clock at approximately 5:30 as a warning that I have only 20 more minutes of sleep. I am completely woke at 5:50. I turn the coffee on for my aunt and I drink a cup. I wake up my two younger sisters Shaylie and Tatiana.
Shaylie (8) is my blood younger sister and Tatiana (13) is my aunt's daughter, but every since I moved in with my aunt we've started to look at each other more like sisters.
After I wake up my sisters, It takes me at least 20 minutes for me to find out exactly what I want to wear. I don't dress to impress others. I just dress to impress myself. They say that if you look good you'll feel good, but I've been doing this long enough to know that, that isn't true. Anyways by this time it's around 6:25. I then need 30 minutes for personal grooming.
At 7:00 a.m I am basically finished and I am in the kitchen cooking for my little sisters and fixing coffee for my aunt. Then, once they finish I make sure they catch their bus. Around 7:45 I am making sure that I have all of my things gathered up, and by 7:55 my friend Brianna walks by my door and we walk to school together.
Brianna and I both take gym together which happens to be our first block. This class is the only class in which I actually interact in. Most of the people in this class are older than me which make them mature and cooler to be around. I hate hanging around kids my age because most of them are immature and messy. Also I mainly interact in gym because I love dance, tennis, and anything that is keeping me physically active.
After gym it's as if I totally shut down. Since we are on block schedule I have only three more classes left, and in each one of these classes I sit in the back and put in my earphones. Only one is turned up so that I can hear my music and the teacher at the same time. I keep to myself and focus on my work. Sometimes people look and whisper but none of that matters to me. I mean they can't say what ever they are saying out loud where I can hear them.
At lunch I get my tray and as soon as I am out of the line I dump it. I sit far away from everyone and just continue playing my music. A lot of times girls walk by giving me the eye saying things like, "Who does she think she is?" They mainly say that because my closet is full of black, gold and, silver and that's what I wear all the time. For example; today I wore my long, black, shirt, dress with the splits on the sides and it says "Bout That Life", In which the words are in gold. I also wore my gold tight s under it with my black and gold wedges. I also put my shoulder length hair up in a pretty little bun and had hair swooped over my left eye. However, I am not about to engage in anyone's foolishness therefore I just ignore them.
Then out of the corner of my eye I see someone coming up towards my table yet I can't exactly see who it is so I just continue listening to my music. I then hear a voice that says........
"Now what is such a beautiful girl doing sitting all over here by herself?"
I turn around..... "Joseph."
Joseph is my boy best friend we tried dating at one point but he wanted certain things that I wasn't ready to give him and I realized.... well we realized that we were better off as friends.
He sat down beside me and I began laughing and talking to him like there was no one else around and like we weren't at school. Then, out of nowhere, his girlfriend came over and interrupted us. Anyways it doesn't matter I love getting to see my best friend. After we broke up I still loved him but I just let it all fade away because my aunt doesn't allow me to date anyways.
After lunch, I just went back to the usual. After school I walked with Brianna, Alexus and Kayla to the Pizza Parlor to have a little friendly chat. My aunt, Nicole, knows my schedule perfectly she know that today I don't have to tutor anyone and that I should be home by 5:15 and it's now 4:30 so I don't have long to chat with my associates.
Brianna: So what's new?
Alexus: Nothing much. I've been writing my stories and poems. I'm hoping to find a publisher.
Brianna: And when you get all that money make sure to holla at your girl.
Alexus: (laughs) Your not going to need my money you can sing and draw.
Brianna: Yeah, you're right.... So Dahlia what's up with you?
Dahlia: The same old stuff that always be up .
Alexus: Um Dahlia you might get mad at me for saying this but as your friend you know I'm just watching out for you. Instead of just complaining about things that are going on in your life you should try switching things up.
Dahlia: I know I need to change things up I really want to but how? I am too young to get a job and support myself. I am too young to fly half way across the world to chase my dream. And at this rate there's really no hope for me I'm going to end up just like......
Brianna: Dahlia it's 5:05 you got to go.
Alexus: Dahlia, aren't you tired of rushing home? Don't you want to just sit back and relax and enjoy time with your friends.
I looked around trying to make sure I had all of my things and I ran out of the building as if I never heard Alexus's question.
AT HOME
Nicole: Hi.
Dahlia: Heyy
Nicole: Do you have homework?
Dahlia: I did it at school.
Nicole: Are you sure?
Dahlia: Yes
Nicole: Good then you can go help your sisters finish theirs and you don't have to worry about cooking dinner tonight I ordered Pizza.
Dahlia: Ok
I began to walk to my room.
Nicole: Where are you going?
Dahlia: I need to go get comfortable.
Nicole: No, you need to do what I told you to do and then you can go get comfortable.
Dahlia: Fine
Nicole: What's up with the attitude?
Dahlia: What are you talking about all I said was fine.
Nicole: yeah whatever is wrong with you, make sure its fixed by dinner.
Dahlia: Yes ma'am.
It happens like this everyday. I come home from school tired enough then I have to help the two younger ones and do a couple of other chores. Everyday I come in it's always something that I say that makes Nicole think that I have an attitude. I am definitely not complaining but it's just tiring.
And you still don't even know the half.......................
