Chapter 13: My Return to Camp Half-Blood Pt.1

2 months later

Percy POV:

It's been two months since Hermione asked me if I was a demigod. I know that your thinking something along the lines of, "Did you tell her? What was her reaction? etc."

Well sorry to break it to you, but I didn't tell her anything.

Flashback

"Percy, are you a demigod?"

I paled even more, to the point that I was as pale as Nico. I gave her my best "totally not nervous" laugh, and said, "What! No!"

Hermione squinted at me, as if she was saying a silent "Uh huh."

I quickly said, "Why would I of all people be a demigod?"

"Because you-I just told you this!"

Hermione face palmed. Then she started to tear up. She said, "I don't know what to do, Percy. For the first time since I arrived at Hogwarts, I don't know what to do. I can't explain what happened yesterday, and how you weren't affected when Ron tried to stun you. And I can't explain the earthquake, or how the water rose to heal you. You being a demigod was the only reasonable explanation. Now I know that I'm crazy."

I didn't know how to react. Here was the person who accepted me after my darkest days. Even though she didn't know it, she had helped me heal. And now she was asking me if I'm a demigod. I made up my mind. I said, "Hermione, you're not crazy. It was a good idea."

And at that, I left the room.

Flashback End

I know that I should have told her, but then she and I would have to answer to Zeus. And he's still mad at me because I refused godhood twice.

Anyway, tomorrow we head back to camp because of winter break. I'm excited to go back and see my mom. I only had a few minutes with her, before I came here, and I didn't even get to see Paul.

I was just about to finish packing my bag, when Jason said, "Yo Percy, it's time to go to Hogsmeade."

I said, "Thanks," before I went down to The Great Hall. This was our first visit of the year, so we had to meet in there to go over the rules.

Professor McGonagall was explaining, "As the eldest in the school, I expect you all to behave accordingly. And please help our new students if they ask for it. That will be all."

After she finished going over the rules, we left the castle and went to Hogsmeade.

Once we arrived Hermione showed me around, and took me to bar to get Butterbeer. At first I thought that it was disgusting, I mean, who drinks butter-flavored beer. Eventually, I grew to like it. It would be better if it was blue though.

I ordered for us, "Can we get two butterbeers please."

Hermione then asked me, "What are you doing for the winter holidays?"

"I'm going to go see my mom, and then go visit my summer camp."

Looking confused on why I would go to my summer camp in winter, I added, "They have parties during the school year. So I'm going to their Christmas party."

She wondered, "Isn't the drinking age 21 in America, so what do you mean then?"

I responded, "In America, you see, we have something called Root beer and mocktails."

She looked at me weird and said, "That sounds disgusting."

The waiter then came with our drinks. After taking a couple sips of her butterbeer, Hermione said, "Percy, I knew you were lying to me when I asked you if you were a demigod two months ago. So tell me the truth."

I sighed, "How many times do I have to tell you? There's nothing special about me."

"Then why did you say that it wasn't a bad idea?"

She studied me looking to see my reaction to that. But I've mastered the art of lying about being a demigod. I said, "You know that that's not what I meant."

I put some money on the table, grabbed my drink, and left.

As I walked out of the door, I saw Frank. I called out, "Frank!"

He looked behind him, as I ran up to him.

"How's my favorite great great great great great I-don't-know-how-many-times grandson."

Frank shrugged before saying, "I'm alright, but being a god gets boring at times. And then I have to deal with Zeus everyday."

I laughed. I mean Zeus is a HUGE drama king. Who can't stand him?

I then found an alleyway, and vapor traveled to my dorm.

Time Skip

I woke up ready to go back to Camp. As I was about to brush my teeth, Jason said, "Ready Percy?"

I smirked, "You know it. Plus, I barely got time to spend with my mom when I got back. Heck, I didn't even get to see Paul."

Jason nodded.

I finished brushing, put on a purple hoodie(Gotta show love to Camp J.), and some sweatpants, and headed down to the Great Hall.

As I grabbed some breakfast, I heard Harry tell some kid, "I hope he doesn't come back. Or he gets caught for killing his girlfriend."

At this, I became furious, but Jason held me back. He said, "He's not worth it. And after this war, I'll tell my dad to light him up personally."

I chuckled knowing that Zeus loves to kill mortals who piss him off. I decided that that was worse than anything I could do.

I sat down between Nico and Jason. Jason then told me our plan to get back to America. He said, "After breakfast, Hazel will make an illusion on the Hogwarts Express so the wizards think that we left with them. Then, we'll go to Dumbledore's office and flash back to Camp."

I nodded and finished my breakfast.

As I got up, Hermione said, "I'm sorry Percy. I'll stop asking you. But I would like to say, have a good winter holiday."

I smiled. "Thanks, you too. I'll see you in a year."

She looked confused, so I explained, "It's an American joke. Basically, it means see you in the next year."

She nodded, getting the joke.

I then got up and went to Dumbledore's office. Nico was talking to Jason and Frank before they saw me. Then, Hazel came in and said, "The Mist is up. They won't suspect a thing. The only people who the illusion doesn't effect is those who know about us."

We all nodded. Nico said to me, "Percy, since your not a god, you'll put your hand on my shoulder, and I'll flash us both the the border of Camp."

I gave him a thumbs up, and put my hand on his shoulder.

I felt a burning sensation before it went away, and we were at the Border of Camp.

I took my hand off of his shoulder, and from what I could see, there were a lot of people at Camp. It was like it was summer again. Except the cabins were covered in light snow. It truly looked like a winter wonderland.

As I walked closer, I realized that everything wasn't so peaceful. Chiron was helping campers that were holding crates of nectar and ambrosia. The older campers, my friends and those who had been through both wars, were training the new campers, along with giving orders.

Camp Half-Blood was preparing to war.

Eventually, Chiron noticed we were here. He greeted, "Percy, my boy, it's good to see you. I'm sorry I didn't notice you sooner. A week after the gods sent your godly friends to assist you at Hogwarts, they ordered both camps to prepare for the coming war. We've been working overtime. Later today, we will be having our first Capture the Flag game in weeks. And the new campers can't wait! It'll be between the Greeks and Romans versus the Hunters."

I nodded, smiling. It's been a long time since I've seen Thalia. In fact, I haven't seen here since the first war. I wonder how she's been.

Before I could go and greet everyone else, I remembered that Annabeth loved Christmas. And this was the first time in years that she wasn't here to celebrate it. My eyes began to water.

I decided to go and visit her memorial on Olympus. Hephaestus himself designed it, along with Athena, and Aphrodite, since she added her input to make it look the best it could be.

I vapor traveled to the Empire State Building. The gods told the guards who I am, so I could visit Olympus whenever I wanted, to visit her grave.

The guard immediately gave me the key to Olympus. I got into the elevator and used the key. After the first war, I had the gods change the elevator music to something more, now.

As the doors opened, I saw Annabeth's statue. It was in front of where the council does their meetings.

I made my way to her memorial, when I noticed a figure setting flowers on the bottom of the statue. Once I got closer, I could see some of the figure's face. He had dirty blond hair, and piercing grey eyes.

I choked, "A-nna-b-beth?"

The figure looked at me and said, "No, I'm her cousin Magnus. My dad's the Norse god Frey."

I said, "I'm sorry I couldn't save her."

He shook his head, "I heard about what happened. It's not your fault. Annabeth always said that you took the blame for something that wasn't your fault. So, don't beat yourself up about it."

I glanced back at her statue, and it was lightly snowing, making it look extra beautiful. I then said, "I can't shake the feeling that if I had been with her, I could have protected her. Or it could have been me."

He said, "I know enough about Greek Mythology that I know that the Fates cut her thread for a reason."

I gritted my teeth. "The Fates hate me. That's why they cut her thread. After I finish one war, I'm whisked into another, and then another after that one."

Magnus nodded, "I don't know what that's like. But fight through this one. I think that, however, that you're in this war to avenge Annabeth. And then bring yourself closer, so you can move on."

I began to cry, "We should have had more time."

Magnus gave me pat on the back and said, "I know. But you will see her again."

And with that, he was gone.

I wiped my tears, and vapor traveled to Camp.
