I walked all the way to my ex moms apartment. My wrist was sore from getting it sewn back on. I knocked on her door, I heard a few shouts and a little girl playing with toys. Sally opened the door.
"Percy?" She asked. Her eyes watering and I thought she was going to cry.
"Hello Sally. I want to meet my sister, I don't care if you disowned me. I'm meeting her cause I think she should be able to meet her half brother." I said. She opened the door and I walked in, and saw my four year old sister playing with some blocks. I smiled.
"Hey, I'm your brother. I know you never met me before, but I've been off traveling." I smiled. I knew she couldn't understand me, but what do you expect? I've lost my light, I lost my bright view on the world.
"Hand?" She asked pointing at my hand.
"I got hurt and now it doesn't look so nice. It will look normal again one day." I smiled. I played with her for a few minutes before standing up.
"I will come back, I can't promise when, but I will one day, and I'll take you to the beach and we can have ice cream together." I smiled.
"Yay!" She screeched in joy, clapping her hands. To think my mom disowned me two months ago, and I hadn't even met my sister before then.
"Percy!" I heard Sally call.
"It's Perseus now, Sally." I said politely and tried walking away but nope, not going to work.
"What happened to you hand? And since when did you like getting called Perseus?"
"I realized I liked my name, and a wise man told me to wear my name like I wear my new skin." I said.
"What skin?" Sally asked. She walked in front of me. I sighed and opened my backpack and took out to Nemean Lion fur.
"This skin. I skinned the Lion that bit my hand off. It wanted to die a worriers death, and I fought it, in the process, losing my hand. I skinned it with one hand. I got my hand sewn back on." I said. I looked at my sister and she stared at me and grinned.
"You lost your hand! Who's putting you through this stuff! No one gets to hurt my son-" she started.
"I'm not your son, Sally. You disowned me two months ago for something I didn't do. I'm parentless, friendless, I'm alone. I got one friend though. A Nemean Lion. I made a deal with Zeus. If I die I get to be known as a traitor, and if I survive all these trials, Zeus will step down as king, and someone else will take his place. Hera has a choice of stepping down or not. Also if I survive I will be claimed innocent. Now, I only have a two week break, I don't want to spend my entire time here." I said and left.
I walked for a while until I found the place I was looking for. I walked in and stood at the desk where a short lady stood. She wore to much makeup for my liking.
"Ah, Hello, what can I do for you?" She asked.
"Well, obviously I came for a tattoo." I laughed. She smiled and looked down.
"Sorry, I'm new. What tattoo would you like?" She asked with a deep blush.
"I want the name destiny on my forearm and the face of a lion on my back." I said. Destiny was the name of my sister, and the Lion was for a reminder that I always have Hercules with me.
"How big?" She asked, writing it down on a notepad.
"I want destiny in hand writing and big enough to cover my entire forearm. I want the lion the size of my upper back, and I was the name Hercules under it in the same writing as destiny and the length of the lion." I explained and she nodded. She gave my the piece of paper she wrote on.
"Bring this over there and tell that one guy with a lot of tattoos that that's what you want. Is that all?" She asked. I thought about it.
"Actually, can I have swords crossing on the top of my foot?" I suggested and she nodded, writing it down as well.
"Alright, that will be $180.50. We prefer prepayments." She said. I grabbed my emergency credit card my mom had given me. I typed in the code and left. I gave it to the guy and rolled up my left arm sleeve. He read the paper before getting the ink ready.
"Dude, what happened to your hand?" The guy asked incredulously. "Percy, how could that happen?" He asked. I recognized him as one of the older demigods.
"I actually go by Perseus now. And my hand was bitten off by a Nemean Lion." I told the child of Athena.
"You say 'a' as if there was more than one." He said, wide eyed.
"Well yeah. There was one that was dying, and it wanted to die fighting, so I fought it and lost my hand. The other one I tamed." I said with a smile.
"Well, what did you name him? Did you name him Hercules? Is that why you want it on your back?" He asked and I nodded.
"My only friend. Everyone betrayed me, well except Athena, Aphrodite, Ares, Artemis and I don't think Apollo did. He seems fine with me." I shrugged. His eyes widened.
"I'm shocked my mother would be loyal to a spawn of Poseidon." He claimed, starting on my first tattoo.
"I was disowned, by both of my parents. I no longer have any connection to Poseidon." I told him. I wasn't upset or anything, if anything I grew emotionless. I never felt anything but freedom since I was known a traitor. Annabeth never even broke up with me. I just knew she wanted to, so when she was about to, I told her I knew what she was going to say and left. My eyes never even watered.
"That's rough bro. Well, when all these stupid trials are over, you can be happy again, have all your friends back." He smiled and I frowned.
"I'm not doing this to get them back, I'm doing it so Zeus will have to step down from being king." His eyes widened.
"I only knew about the trials. You made some deal with Zeus for him to have to step down right? Who would take his place?" He asked.
"Well, I ordered Apollo or Hephaestus to become king, and Hera has the choice. I'm also going to get the two to divorce. Zeus is abusive and Hera shouldn't be with him any longer. If Hera steps down either Athena or Artemis will be Queen." I explained.
"Why are you so set on changing the rulers?" He asked.
"They need to change for the better. I'm done with them treating their children like garbage and have to fight their parents wars. Zeus treats mortals like they are objects and I'm sick of it." I ranted.
"Have you thought of becoming king?" He asked and my eyes widened. I shook my head.
"I never thought of it. I'd make a horrible ruler." I said, avoiding moving my arm so he doesn't mess up on my tattoo.
"Your kind and fair, that's some pretty useful stuff for being king." He said.
"I'm to trustworthy and unprepared." I told him with a pointed look.
"Remember, you led two wars, I think being king would be easy." He said. "Done, take off your shirt." He said, ending the discussions.
"That sounds weird but okay." I said with a laugh, being careful not to hurt my wrist.
It was silent for about an hour, but he finished. He told me and wrapped up my back and arm, telling me to leave it wrapped up till tomorrow evening. I walked out, not having a clue of where to go. I could go for lunch, but I wasn't hungry. I walked until I found myself somewhere I never thought I would be at again, Yancy Academy. I walked in and straight to the principles office. It was only now I realized he was a son of Apollo. Same principle as when I was here when I was 12.
"Long time no see Mr. Cole." I smiled.
"Ah, Perseus, long time no see. How's life been treating you?" He asked and put some papers away. His hair was turning grey, even though it's only been 6, 7 years since I left.
"Well, being a demigod has its flaws." I said and sat across from him.
"Well, being a child of Apollo means lesser scent, so I guess life is pretty peaceful for me." He chuckled. "I heard about the trials, and your hand. Having your hand bitten off must've sucked, right?" He asked. I looked behind me and saw a kid with his jaw dropped.
"You had your hand bitten off?" He asked with a dropped jaw.
"Yup. Feeding the lions isn't very fun." I laughed. This kid looked a lot like me, maybe not in looks, but he seems to have the same personality.
"You had to feed lions? What's your job, working at the zoo?" He scoffed. I laughed. Sassy. I like him already.
"Something like that. I got my hand sewn back on though. You want to see? It looks pretty gross." I smiled. He walked up to me nervously. He looked and his face pales.
"That's pretty cool, although I suggest not feeding lions with your hands." He laughed, his skin colour returning.
"Well Percy, our Greek Mythology teacher gotten sick at lunch, so maybe you would be interested in teaching it until he gets better?" Mr. Cole suggested. The kid nodded his head rapidly. I laughed and nodded.
"Well I have two weeks to spare. I don't need a lesson plan right? I hate having to do that stuff. Dyslexia sucks. I laughed and he shook his head.
"No, just do what you always have, don't plan and do whatever, but the kids have to learn so teach. Lunch break is almost finished. Go to the class, it's the same one as it was when you were here. Now, Leo, what did you do this time?" He asked the kid. He had brown hair and large brown eyes that had a troublemaker light to it. I remember when I use to be like that.
I walked to the classroom and the bell ran. I sat down on the stool.
