book 2 Chapter 5

Percy groaned as he sat up from his bed. He just felt like he had a terrible nightmare, but he couldn't remember what it was. Percy stood up from his bed, only to grunt in pain as he felt pins and needles in his leg.

Percy's eyes narrowed as he looked around the room. Nothing had broken through the mist barrier around the entire ship, though it looked like Leo had gotten up for a late night snack. Percy went deep in thought about his plan to remove Ozai's influence from Azula. He was getting close, he could feel it, but she just needed a little push. He knew what it was, but he didn't know if he was ready. He knew that the feeling of attraction between them had been building for a long time, and He knew either she was going to ask in her demanding way, or he was, in a nicer way.

He must have sat there bouncing his knee for a solid hour, before he gave up and went to take a shower, muttering to himself. "Just like Wise girl, just like Wise girl, this is nothing like Wise girl. Just ask! Dam it! You have fought beings stronger than gods! Why is asking a girl out so hard!"

When he was finished, he walked out Azula's room. And knocked on the door. Azula opened it, with a messy bed head. Without the fire nation grannies fussing about every hair on her body, she started to care less of her appearance first thing in the morning. Later in the day, she dressed like she usually does.

"Hey Percy. Need something?" Azula asked. Oh yeah, she also started talking like a teenage girl first thing after waking up. Not cold and calculating, but ehh the opposite of that. What is it, warm and caring? Yeah that. For like, an hour or two. Then she goes back to being regular Azula, but it meant progress to Percy, he was removing more and more of Ozai's influence from her, and she was being more and more human, not a living puppet for Ozai.

"Hey, I want to talk to you about something. Can I come in?" Percy asked as he fidgeted with his necklace. Azula let out a soft yawn as he opened the door more, letting him in. "How are you feeling?"

"I've been a lot more tired recently. Don't know why, but I like the extra sleep. Father always keeps me so busy back home." Azula said as she opened the mini fridge next to her bed, pulling out a canteen of water. Leo had gone above and beyond when making the rooms, the only thing they were missing were kitchens, but everyone had their own bathrooms, so that was good.

Azula laid back down on her bed, nightgown bunching up a little bit, drinking some water. In Her mind she was panicking. A lot. She was just thinking about... things, when Percy knocked on her door. Piper and her had been talking recently, after being told that she was a child of a love spirit in the past life that she had been told so much about. She remembers when they told her about their rebirth, mostly. She was still coming to terms with most of it, but she didn't care.

"Percy, what am I to you?" Azula asked after a few seconds of hard thinking. He couldn't dodge a loaded question like this one. Percy couldn't answer. He knew he couldn't bullshit his way out of this one. "Am I a replacement for your wife, Annabeth?"

"No. You aren't." Percy could answer that. "Our marriage wasn't working out in the end. We had started to fight all the time, verbal and physical. You are a lot like her, yes. But just in the way of how you think. You are two entirely different people to me. Anabeth has..." Percy sighed. "What I am trying to say is, You are more than just the Princess of the Fire Nation to me."

"Then why are you so nice to me. Everyone treats me like a monster, they fear me, but you don't." Azula took another swig of water, and pulled her knees to her chest.

"Because I felt sorry you had to have a shit father like Ozai." Percy said as he sat on the other end of the bed. "He was putting you on a pedestal so far above others, putting so much pressure on you, that before this war would even be over, you would snap from the pressure, and go crazy. He was treating you like a puppet."

"So all of this was just pity!" Azula shouted, throwing the canteen at Percy. He caught it, Realizing he fucked up. "I don't need your pity! I don't need you help!"

Azula started to perform a lightning Kata, but Percy was faster, and a white mist shot out of his hand. The second Azula breathed it in, She felt drowsy, and her knees buckled, falling forward, passed out. Percy caught her and laid her on the bed. Percy sighed as his finger glowed a deep blue. Touching her forehead, a roll of film started materializing over her head. Percy unraveled the last fifteen minutes of conversation, and pulled out a pair of gold scissors. Cutting off the film, Percy pushed Azula's memories back in, and destroyed the memory of the conversation.

Percy sighed once more as he played with Azula's hair.

"I'm sorry Azula." Percy leaned over and kissed her forehead. "I'll try again. I won't mess up this time."

Percy tucked Azula back in, and left her room closing the door behind him.

Short chapter, I know. I'm sorry. I have just been busy lately and Covid-19 isn't helping. I couldn't really think of anything to do in the library, and I wanted to get some proper Percy x Azula love in here. Just note, this is where things really start to pick up. We'll be seeing more of Annabeth and the demigods, Percy and Azula doing things together, More of tea loving Iroh, betrayals, hook ups, maybe some death, I don't know, still debating it, lore galore, backstory, cliffhangers, and maybe some explanations. In the mean time, don't go anywhere, share with friends, don't riot for new chapters and I'll sea you next time
