Chapter 4
Chapter 4
*Olympian Throne Room*
Thalia's POV
(when she went to talk to Zeus)
As I walked towards my father, I couldn't help the worry growing in my chest, not knowing what he would say when he reached me. But as I stood in front of my dad as stared into his eyes, I felt my fears wash away
"Daughter." Zeus said to me, smiling kindly. "You don't know how relieved I am to see you well."
"Thanks..." I said awkwardly, "I am happy to be well." I couldn't help but shift uncomfortably, having never had a conversation with my father.
"I support your choice." My dad said suddenly, "He will not let you down, just let your sister know."
I couldn't help the surprise I felt, and slight confusion, but I decided to go with it, knowing that I was ready to leave the hunt. "Yes, father." I responded, dipping my head slightly, and as I turned to walk away, I felt a hand rest on my shoulder.
"You needn't be so awkward around me daughter, I am trying to change for the better, notice I didn't kill your... friend... Percy." he said, hesitating on how to address Percy, for a reason that I don't know. "Now get moving, your sister is waiting for you, and remember Thalia, I love you."
I couldn't help but smile at his words "I love you too dad." I said, before fully turning and making my way over to Artemis. "Lady Artemis!" I called out, "I need to talk to you."
"I know lieutenant." She responded, turning towards me with a small smile. "All I ask is for the truth on why you wish to leave."
I obviously couldn't hide my shock at her knowing what I was after, but I pulled myself together before responding, "I have lost too many members of my family, and though I love my family within the hunt, I want to be with my family that remains outside the hunt, at least for now." I replied, truthfully.
Artemis stared at me, as if trying to determine if my words were the truth, "Very well sister, I shall free you from your oath, but for everything you have done for your sisters and myself in the hunt, I will let you keep my blessing, as well as give you the ability to change into a wolf form." Artemis said with a warm smile, "consider it a farewell gift."
I couldn't help the surprise on my face, knowing full well that Artemis wasn't exactly known for being nice to those who wanted to leave the hunt, "Thank you Lady Artemis." I said formally, probably grinning like a mad woman.
"No need for formalities sister, now go back to your friend, he seems lost on what to do now that his conversation with Hestia is over." Artemis said, causing me to chuckle a little as I looked over at the person just standing in the middle of the room,
"Of course sister, I will catch up with you later." And with that I made my way towards Percy. "Hey Kelp Head! You get lost again?" I joked, bumping his shoulder as I stepped up next to him.
"Haha, very funny Pinecone Grace." He said, smirking at me, and earning a glare from me for the ending of the nickname.
"Don't call me Grace!" I growled, causing him to chuckle nervously. "Anyway" I said, changing the subject, "You really need to go talk to Grover." I continued, tilting my head towards the satyr standing by his girlfriend, "he has been worried sick about you."
"Didn't the empathy link let him know I was safe?" Percy asked, growing worried.
"Don't you remember?" I asked exasperated. "Hera weakened the link, so all Grover felt was rage from your end and then nothing, and next thing he knew, we were having Annabeth's funeral, and we had no sign of where you were." I continued, rolling my eyes. "By the way, Grover also said that due to the link being weakened, that if one of you dies, the other won't be turned into a vegetable like state." I finished, before pulling Percy towards Grover.
"Well that's refreshing to hear, I don't want Grover to be turned into a vegetable if anything goes wrong in a fight, especially with his child on the way." Percy said, rubbing the back of his neck.
And that is how the night went, me and Percy walking around talking to all of our friends, and me occasionally wandering off to the hunters to let my sisters know what happened, and to congratulate Reyna on being the new Lieutenant. And as the night came to a close, I realised that I had yet to tell anyone outside the hunt the news.
"Well, I guess I will see you some other time, hu Thals." Percy said, breaking me out of my thoughts.
"What?" I asked.
"Well you're going with your sisters aren't you?" Percy asked, confused by my reaction.
"Oh, no I left the hunt, I can't lose any more of my family." I said, smiling, and causing a small smile to grace Percy's lips, which for some reason caused a strange feeling to flair deep inside.
"Well, in that case, you want to join me at my mom's before we head off to camp? We can spend the night at her place." Percy asked.
"Sure! I have missed Sally! And it would be good to see Andromeda again, and to finally meet the famous Estelle." I said smiling, and with that we suddenly faded into the mist, before reforming in his family's living room.
"Mo..." he started before stopping, "does she know about Annabeth?" Percy asked, turning towards me and whispering.
"Yes." I whispered back sadly, "they were let into the camp for the funeral." And with that the night commenced, Percy called out to his family, and we all got together and talked everything though and we all mourned the loss of Annabeth, and we celebrated the defeat of Python. But as we were getting ready for bed, Sally called out to us.
"Percy, Thalia, wait up for a second." Sally said, looking slightly uneasy.
"Sure thing mom." Percy said, "what's up?"
"It's about your family, I haven't been completely honest with you." Sally started, before diving into how Jim and Estelle Jackson weren't actually her birth parents and just her adopted parents, and how her birth father was Andy Dumbledore, who was apparently the long lost and forgotten son of someone named Aberforth Dumbledore and someone else by the name of Cassandra Trelawny, and her Birth mother was someone named Euphemia Potter, and how the reason she had to be adopted, was that he mother Euphemia, had died shortly after her birth from a disease called dragon pox, which had claimed her late husband Henry Potter. And How Andy had died not long after in an attack by someone called a death eater, or something like that. And when Sally was adopted, the family moved to America, and we know the rest from there.
"Why does this matter?" Percy asked, obviously just as confused as I was.
"It matters because of who these people were and what being within this family means." A mysterious voice answered from behind us, and as we turned, we were greeted by none other than Hecate, the titaness of Magic and Crossroads, and a bunch of other stuff.
"Hecate? What are you doing here?" Percy asked, being his usually uncaring self when in the presence of an immortal.
"I am here to discuss yours and Thalia's mortal family, and request that you help me when I call for your assistance." Hecate said emotionlessly.
"What do you mean?" I asked, confused. "My mother was just a drunk movie star, and Percy's family is just more people with weird names."
And again, we got drawn into a long discussion of how my mother was something called a squib, and how her parents were two people, one named Regulus Black, and someone else called Bellatrix Lestrange. And how because of my mother being a squib, she was abandoned by her family. And was sent to America.
"You see, you two are some of the last remaining descendants, or in Thalia's case, the last descendant of some very old and very ancient, wizarding families."
"Wait! Did you say wizarding families?" Percy asked, confused.
"Yes." Hecate said simply.
"Ok! Just making sure. Carry on." Percy said, seemingly unperturbed by the introduction of a new type of human, though I couldn't exactly blame him, we were the literal children of gods.
"Anyway, we will start with you, Perseus. You are the last remaining descendant, of the ancient family of Dumbledore, whose 'pureblood' family trails back so far that I won't go into detail, and the youngest descendant of the 'pureblood' family Trelawny, And descendant of the 'pureblood' potter family, and descendant of the Peverell family, though no one is really good at keeping track of that, sadly. But back to the matter. You see, in this wizarding society 'purebloods' are valued above all others, believed to be the best of the best when it comes to wizards, and to possess the best magical prowess. But as you can see that isn't always the case, take your mother for example, who is a squib but with the slight ability of sight, which helps her to see through the mist, combined with her squib qualities. Either Way, you Perseus, are the only member of your family, coincidentally, to have been pasted down the ability to perform magic, and with you being the most 'pureblood' of all 'purebloods' being the literal son of the most Pureblooded being, a god, have inherited more magic prowess than anyone in the history of magic, though you do have a close runner up, but we will get to that later." Hecate said, before again going off on how due to Percy's lineage on both sides, he would be exceptionally powerful, and how she has a wand made for him but he needs to wait a little bit longer to get it, and how she will need his help with magical world, and yada yada yada.
"But what does this have to do with me?" I asked, slightly impatient from the long telling that Hecate was doing.
"Oh right!." Hecate said, probably having forgotten that I was even there, before she then started telling me how much like Percy, I am the last descendant of ancient 'pureblood' lines and how because of my father I will have exceptionally magical prowess, more powerful than anyone, other than Percy, though I find that to be bull crap, I am just as powerful as the Kelp Head. And she talked of how she also had a wand for me and would need my help in the magical world as well, and again yada yada yada.
"Ok." Percy said, stopping Hecate from continuing her tangent. "We get it, you need our help and you have wands, when do we start?"
"Oh not till I decide you do, we have plenty of time. But I do have the wands for both of you, custom made by me of course, and the most powerful wands known to the wizarding world, solely because they need to be stronger to handle your powers, both wizard and godly." Hecate said, slightly off track.
"Now first off, we have Percy's wand." Hecate said, pulling out a Sea green piece of wood, with intricate wave designs that looked like celestial bronze, For your wand, I combined many different types of wood, first we have Rowan wood, known for being more protective than any other wand and having never been owned by a dark wizard, and is commonly placed with someone of pure heart, second we have Red Oak, which generally chooses someone who is quick-witted and adaptable, third we have pear wood, which is known for giving their loyalty to the warm hearted. The fourth wood I chose is Ebony, which is highly suited for combat, which I figure would be helpful for you, the best match for an Ebony, is someone who holds strong in their beliefs. Following up the Ebony, I also chose Blackthorn, which is suited for warriors. And the final wood that I chose for your wand is Cedar, which choses a wizard with a strength of Character and Unusual Loyalty, I also added some coral, just to help you channel your water powers through the wand. For your cores I kept it simpler, I started off with a hair from your father, to again help channel your powers through it, and give the wand a better chance of handling your powers, the next core I chose is is the feather of a Phoenix, which is one of the most powerful cores, and its allegiance is hard one, so you have your work cut out for you, as well as a feather from your pegasus, Blackjack, to help you bond with the wand easier. Your wand is twelve and a half inches, and unyielding, showing that it is as loyal and as strong of character, as the wizard, er demiwizard, who shall wield it. I also put some celestial bronze in the wand so that it will have a greater effect on our creatures." Hecate finished, before turning towards me.
"Now Thalia, your wand is relatively simpler, but doubt not, for your wand is just as capable as Perseus's, to start off, your wand is eleven and three fourths inches long, slightly yielding, for a core, much like Perseus's I chose the hair from your father, to help channel your powers, the feather from a phoenix, and for you the hair from a wolf, to remind you of your time in the hunt and help you connect with the wand better. For your woods, I chose, much like Perseus's, Red Oak, which again chooses those who are quick witted and adaptable, and I also chose Ebony, which is best suited for combat, and Blackthorn, which is suited for warriors But that is where your similarities end, I chose Alder, which is perfect for those who are stubborn or obstinate." This brought a chuckle out of Percy, and a glare from me, "I also chose Apple, which is best for those of high aims and Ideals. The next wood for you was Cypress, which find their sole mates among the brave, and the final wood for you that I chose was Pine." This of course had Percy full out laughing and me trying to glare at him the best I can, whilst trying to hide a blush from embarrassment. Once Percy had calmed down, Hecate continued, "taken from your very own pine tree, to help you connect with the wand better, Pine wood chooses an Independent and individual master, pine will also adapt unquestionably to new methods and spells. And finally, I also added some silver into your wand to also help you with taking out our types of monsters." Hecate finished, pulling out an electric blue wand, with silver lightning designs running through it.
"I enchanted both wands to look a way that would be more appealing for both of you, now before I go, Percy, can you hand me your pen."
"Sure.." Percy said, hesitantly handing over the pen, before we heard Hecate start chanting and Percy's wand disappeared.
"There, now your wand is stored inside of the pen, if you want to use your wand just twist the pen, instead of removing the cap, or just think about your wand appearing and it will take place of the pen, I also made it so you can do that with your sword, instead of you wasting time flicking the cap off, and you can store it as a wand if you want, and just will it to become a sword at anytime, and your wand can't be broken, much like your swords. And your swords will now affect mortals, and they affect wizards as well." Hecate finished, handing the pen back to Percy,
"Now Thalia, hand me your mace canister, so I can do the same." Hecate said, and so I handed it over, and much like what happened with Percy's, my wand disappeared. Hecate then explained how she did the same thing to mine that she did with Percy's, but with the added benefit of making my spear unbreakable, and changing the spear from celestial bronze to silver. "Now I must be off, I will call upon you two later." Hecate said, before disappearing in a flashing of light.
"Well... that happened." Percy said.
"Yeah.." I said, struggling to process everything that just unfolded.
"Want to head off to bed? Percy asked.
"Sure." I said, before stopping, "what are the sleeping arrangements?"
"You get my bed, I will be sleeping on an air mattress on the floor, so don't step on me in the morning." Percy said, before we both went off to his room for sleep, both thinking about how much their world had changed in such a small time.
I hope you liked that chapter, I know some of you won't like how strong their wands are, but my view is, they are literal children of the gods, two of the most powerful ones at that, and a common wand made for mortal wizards wouldn't be strong enough for their power, and of course they would be powerful wizards as well. and then I just like the idea of Percy's wand turning into his pen, so I did that and then thought Thalia deserved to have easy storage as well.
