Chapter 6
Poseidon's point of view
We were sitting through yet another meeting, we had decided that we would reveal Percy to Camp Half-Blood when they came for the winter solstice meeting in two weeks. I was trying to imagine the Athena spawn's reaction to Percy while tuning out Athena yelling at me when Zeus said, "we will reveal Perseus to camp Jupiter the same day."
I glanced over at Percy he seemed to be paying attention but he also looked bored, I couldn't really blame him these meetings can be boring. Apollo had been teaching him about being a god and his powers. I thought back to the day that he had told me about the Athena spawn breaking up with him. When he started crying as he told me what happened I already knew that Percy hardly ever cried so I so I knew just how much the Athena spawn had hurt him. When he managed to explain and that he wanted to die I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I couldn't lose my favourite son to an Athena spawn.
I got the idea to make him an Olympian. I figured my brother would be reluctant to do so especially since Percy had been offered immortality once before and he had refused. I suspected that his main reason for refusing other than wanting to help the minor gods, as well as the other demigods, had been the daughter of Athena. So now I suspected that there was no reason for him to refuse, the daughter of Athena had left him so the only things he had left tying him to the mortal world were Sally and the friends that he still had at the two camps. I was quite pleased that he had accepted. The hardest part of being a god was having to watch your demigod children die whether it's from illness, monsters, or natural causes. I realize that Percy may or may not have to go through that in the future. but if he does I don't suppose that it will happen for quite a few years.
I returned my attention to the meeting when I heard Zeus say that the meeting had come to an end. After most of the gods left it was just me and Percy left in the throne room. Percy walked over to me he asked, "have you told Tyson about all this?"
I knew what he meant; he was asking if I had told Tyson about Percy being made a god. I answered, "No I haven't we have been rather busy with you."
I smiled at him he smiled back, I was pleased that he didn't seem to be as depressed as he had been the other day, but then again ever since he had been made a god he was rather busy so he had a lot of things to keep his mind off her. Percy said, "I might stop by later and tell him myself, but I think I will go see mom first."
I nodded, we would have to let sally know sooner or later, if Chiron had told her that Percy had left camp Half-Blood, she would be getting worried about him. We both turned preparing to leave.
Percy's point of view
My dad and I teleported out of the throne room, He was headed to his palace while I went to my mom's apartment. I knocked on the door as soon as my mom opened the door I knew that there was something wrong because she had a sad expression on her face. She said, "Hello who are you?"
Let me tell you that it stung a bit to have my own mom not recognize me.I mean I realize that my appearance and voice had changed, but I didn't think that I had changed so much that my mother wouldn't recognize me. I said "Mom,"
she said, "Percy!" she was obviously surprised.
I asked, "Mom what's wrong?"
She said, "Paul died two weeks ago in a car crash."
it was my turn to be shocked. I asked, "why didn't you tell me sooner!"
she answered, "You were having so much fun at camp; I didn't want to upset you."
Then she asked, "why do you look so different?"
I answered, "Let's go inside explaining might take a while."
So we sat down on the couch and I told her about how Annabeth had broken up with me when I had planned on Proposing to her.
I explained that Dad had comforted me and that he had come up with an idea of how to give me a new start. I told her that he had taken me to Olympus. I told her that when we got there he summoned the other gods, and he gave this big long speech about what I had done for them. I told her that When he finished his speech he said that I deserved a reward and that he wanted to make me a god and a member of the Olympian council.
"And did they?" she asked me
"yes," I said Grinning.
For a moment she was speechless, finally, she said, "Congratulations Percy you deserve it. you have done so much for them, and it's about time that they acknowledged it."
I said, "Thanks, Mom. I'm still stunned that none of them were against it, I mean at least two of them hate me. Dad's speech must have really gotten through to them."
She got sad again, she said, "With you at camp, and Paul.." I did my best to comfort her, and she managed to continue, she said, "I've been lonely, now that you're a god will you even be able to visit me?"
in response, I said, "of course I will Mom; no matter what happens I will visit you whenever I can."
now that she had calmed down slightly she said, "Since you're a god now what are you god of?"
I told her my domains, and about my training with Apollo. Then I said,"Mom, could you do me a favor? If Chiron contacts you asking if you've heard from me, will you tell him that you have but I don't intend to return to camp?"
"But what will I tell him if he asks where you are?" she asked me
"Just tell him that I'm staying here, but if he asks to talk to me say I am out doing something."
"Why don't you want him to know?" she asked.
"we are going to surprise him and the rest of the Camp counselors when they come to the winter solstice meeting," I said grinning.
I was wondering how I would manage to visit her as much as I would like, considering my training and any council meetings that might be called. As I was wondering about that I had an idea, I said, "I could get dad to visit you."
She yelled, "You don't need to do that, he's probably busy, he's the god of the sea after all."
I chuckled and said, "I know that mom, but you still like him don't you?"
The only response I got was her face turning the color of a ripe tomato, but that was good enough for me. I said, "Amphitrite faded a couple years ago, and he still loves you."
"He... Still ...Loves... me?" she said shocked.
"How do you know, and why hasn't he come before then?"
I answered, " for your first question, it's pretty obvious Any time I mention you. as to your second question, he did but you always had Paul."
My mom got upset again she said, "Why didn't I realize this sooner?"
My mom started crying I hugged her and eventually got her calmed down. I knew that she would need more than just visits from me to help her, and I figured my dad could find the time to see her too. who knows after a while they might end up back together. it's obvious to me that they both still have feelings for each other.
I said, "I'll be right back Mom close your eyes."
She did what I asked. I teleported to my dad's Palace, and I found him in the throne room. Unlike the last time I was here, there was now a throne for me beside his. when he told me that he was planning on adding one I told him that he didn't need to but since we are a lot alike, I knew there wasn't much point in arguing with him, he did it anyway. As soon as he saw me his expression brightened.
He said, "Percy what brings you here? I thought you were going to see your mother?"
in response, I said, "I did, and I received some rather unexpected news."
He said, "Oh what was that?"
My face saddened slightly, Paul had always been good to me, he had accepted me and mom even though we were different. I said, "Paul died two weeks ago in a car crash."
He said " Are you alright? How's your mother doing?"
I said, "I'm fine, but I think mom could use some company until she is back to normal, and I won't be able to be there all the time."
He nodded. Smirking at him I said, "Besides you still love her don't you dad?" He blushed. and then I said, "by the way, she still loves you too."
"How do you know that?" he asked me.
" Well it's pretty obvious, that and she told me a couple of minutes ago," I told him.
Without bothering to wait for me, he teleported to my mom's apartment.
