Chapter 19
Poseidon's point of view
Today is the day that until recently I never let myself dream would come. I am marrying Sally. When I met her I knew I had never met a woman like her before in my immortal life. Leaving her and Percy had been one of the hardest things I have ever done.
Even though I was thinking about all of this I was nervous to say the least. The music started and everyone started coming in. the bridesmaids were: Athena, Aphrodite, Piper McLean, Katie Gardener and surprisingly Calypso. The maid of Honour was Thalia Grace. All my brother's children looked a little uncomfortable in my domain but we made sure that no one would drown. I was dressed in a black suit with a white shirt and a sea green tie. Percy and my Groomsmen were dressed in similar attire.
Sally's Bridesmaids were in sea green one shoulder dresses that stopped just below their knees. They had white belts around their waists on the belts I could see pearls sparkling. When Percy was at my side he put his hand on my shoulder, and some of my nerves left me. I realized that Percy must have used some of his powers from Hestia to calm my nerves. He did it just in time too because The wedding march started playing and that's when I saw her.
Sally was in a long white gown that went down to her ankles, it was strapless and there was a sea green belt around her waist. I saw more pearls on her dress. A long train trailed behind her. Her hair was in a bun, and her vail was just thin enough that I could see her face through it. As I had hoped Aphrodite didn't go too overboard with the makeup, she just had on enough that it made her most beautiful features more obvious.
When she reached my side I said "You look gorgeous" "You look rather handsome yourself" she said in reply.
Hera spoke she said "Do you Poseidon take Sally Jackson to have and to hold, for the rest of your immortal life?" "I do" I said without hesitation.
Hera Continued "and do you Sally Jackson Take this man, Poseidon, to have and to hold, for the rest of your immortal life?"
"I do" then Hera passed us our rings, I spoke
I said "I give you this ring as a visible and constant symbol of my Promise to love you and be with you for the rest of my immortal life." And then I slipped the ring onto sally's finger. Then she repeated what I had said, and Slid my ring onto my finger.
Hera spoke again, she said "I now pronounce you Husband and wife; you may now kiss the bride." Sally and I kissed, there might have been some clapping and cheering but you couldn't really hear it for Aphrodite's squealing.
Percy's Point of view
After the ceremony the reception started. Unfortunately most of the guests were gods, demigods, nymphs and merpeople since mom didn't have any family besides me and even if she did they wouldn't have been able to come. Everyone moved from table to table talking to their family and friends. At one point I walked over to talk to Thalia, I sat down across from her since most of camp half-blood was here Artemis had brought her hunters as well and one of them glared at me when I sat by their lieutenant.
I said, "Thals Thanks for agreeing to be my mom's maid of honor."
She said, "You're welcome kelp head," then she stopped midsentence and put a hand over her mouth. When I didn't say anything she asked, "Can I still call you that? I mean you're a god now."
I replied, "Yes Thalia you are my cousin and I don't want you to treat me any differently because I'm a god. I'm not like some of the other gods who insist on people bowing down to them."
When I said that I glanced over at Zeus, Thalia smiled and said, "like I was saying before, just because I'm a hunter of Artemis, doesn't mean I won't do stuff like that. Your mom has been like a mom to me too, so there is no way I would say no."
She said "If you don't mind me asking what happened to your stepdad Paul?"
I quickly answered, "He died in a car crash four weeks ago." "How did your dad hear about it?" she asked.
I answered, "I kind of told mom that dad still loved her and that Amphitrite had faded. I also kind of told dad that mom still loved him and that Paul had died. They took it from there."
Thalia shook her head amused; she said, "Kelp head I think Aphrodite is rubbing off on you."
I answered, "No I just didn't want two people who love each other to remain separated when there was nothing stopping them from getting back together."
After I finished that statement I heard my best friend say, "Perrr-cy?"
he sounded uncertain as if he wasn't sure that I was me. I said, "Hey G-man have you heard what happened?"
He answered, "You mean beside the fact that your parents are now married."
I chuckled and said, "Yeah besides that."
Then he asked, "Why do I sense so much power from you Percy, I mean more than usual? I mean the power I sense from you feels equal to that of one of the Olympians."
I smirked and said, "that's because I am one of the Olympians, the fifteenth Olympian God of time, waves, tides, swordsmanship, loyalty, and heroes."
Thalia and I burst out laughing at his expression, his eyes were the size of dinner plates and his mouth hung open. When we all calmed down I explained why I had chosen to become a god. Shortly after this we all started eating; the plates automatically gave you whatever you wanted excluding seafood so no one was complaining.
Dionysus's drinking ban was lifted just for tonight, and I was pretty sure that he was already rather drunk. I was getting more nervous by the minute because it would soon be time for my speech.
After I had finished eating and talking to Thalia and Grover I wandered off to talk to some of my other friends. At one point I was walking by a table where Clarisse sat she said, "I miss beating you up Prissy,"
I laughed and said, "Really Clarisse you don't miss me, you just miss beating me up?"
She just glared at me. I kept walking and saw Tyson at another table and I chatted with him for a minute before walking away. I glanced over to where my mom and dad sat at a table just for them. Seeing them like that made my mind wander to how I had planned on Proposing to Annabeth. when I thought of her I was surprised to find that I didn't feel sad or disappointed that she had left me, I just felt the anger for her blaming me for things that weren't my fault. And then my thoughts wandered to Amber, and that's when it hit me. I do love her, I had tried to stay away, tried to deny it but I know I love her.
I finally I found the Person who I had been looking for since I left Grover and Thalia, I walked over to Hestia, "A little nervous?" She asked.
"Yeah," I admitted.
She put her hand on my arm and gave me hope using the same power that I had used on dad earlier. Then it was time for me to make my speech. After I finished the speech Apollo went to the music system and mom and dad had their first dance. I was pleased to see that Rhea was at the wedding as well. Why you may ask I was pleased because it had only been a few days ago that I had convinced the rest of the council to release the peaceful titans from their prisons.
Flashback we were sitting through another meeting, Aphrodite was staring at me while Ares was glaring at me I just ignored them both. The meeting was fairly normal Zeus and dad were arguing, Hades and Demeter were arguing Apollo and Artemis were arguing , Hermes was checking his phone, Dionysus was asleep, Hestia was frowning because everyone was fighting while I sat bored out of my mind. Suddenly I thought of something that if I suggested it to the council we might actually do something useful in this meeting.
I yelled, "Silence!"
all the other gods turned and looked at me.
"What is it son?" my dad asked.
I spoke, "you may recall that after the battle of Manhattan you rewarded me, Tyson, Thalia, Annabeth and Grover for protecting Olympus."
"Yes why are you bringing this up now?" my dad asked me.
I continued, "think back to what I requested from you, once you remember that you may realize that there is one part of that request that hasn't yet been completed."
I saw that some of them realized what I was getting at while others still looked confused. Ares stopped glaring at me long enough to blurt, "What are you talking about we did everything you asked!"
"Not quite," I said, "You never released the titans that you imprisoned just because they are Titans, even if they themselves have never opposed you." I paused for a breath and then I spoke again not giving them a chance to speak just yet, "Think of Calypso for example. Yes she supported the Titans in the first war but her main reason for doing so was because her father was one of them, not necessarily because she was against you. For all you know Atlas may have forced her to support them."
"Calypso is now free, but not because you freed her because Leo Valdez went and rescued her."
I stopped to let what I said sink in and to give them a chance to speak. The room was silent until Hestia said, "he is right, I propose that we do as he asked."
Although not very enthusiastic about it Zeus said, "All in favour of completing his request?"
All hands went up except for Zeus, Ares and Dionysus. Seeing this Zeus frowned but clapped his hands, standing in front of us was a group of titans and Titanesses, I recognized Rhea who was technically my Grandmother, and another Titaness who I guessed was Leto who I remembered was the mother of Apollo and Artemis.
At the moment they were looking at Zeus confused about why they were brought here. Then Zeus spoke he said "we are releasing you from your prisons; you may do as you wish, but if you ever do anything to oppose us..."
he left the threat hanging , I frowned because Zeus was threatening his own mother. Then he said, "This meeting is dismissed." and then he left the room in a bolt of lightning.
"Drama queen," I muttered. Hades must have heard me because he snickered and then left in a clump of shadows. The titans left the room via the door I guess they still weren't sure what they were going to do with their new freedom. While the gods including me left one after the other. End of Flashback
The Father Daughter dance was skipped, since mom's parents were dead and even if they were alive they wouldn't have been able to come. After my dad danced with Rhea other people started dancing as well. I saw Jason and Piper dancing. Leo and Calypso joined them, I noticed Aphrodite dragging Ares onto the dance floor, and then I noticed Hera dragging Zeus. I chucked slightly at the gods who were being dragged onto the dance floor by their girlfriends or wives. A little later I noticed that Piper and Jason had left the dance floor, I assumed that they were just taking a break but then I noticed Piper walking toward me. When she was standing in front of me she grabbed my arm and started pulling me toward the dance floor.
"I don't feel like it," I whined like a little kid.
She responded by saying sternly, "It is your mother and father's wedding you should dance at least once!"
reluctantly I followed her. We danced for a couple of songs and then she let me go.I went back to sitting at one of the tables by myself. Shortly after I saw a woman or should I say a goddess walking toward me. Oh great I thought the one goddess I hoped that I wouldn't have to talk to, Aphrodite, today her features reminded me of Amber. But I had no interest in what I am sure she wanted.
I would have teleported to somewhere else in the palace because I knew it better than she did, but it wasn't just gods here there were demigods too and if they didn't turn away in time, no that wouldn't work. I kept thinking trying to think of a way to escape that would work without possibly hurting someone. In the end I found none.
She sat down beside me and said, "You want some company?" but the way she said it made it sound like she didn't just mean did I want someone to talk to.
I scooted a little further away from her and said, "no thanks Aphrodite I'm fine."
"Not still upset over that Athena girl are you?" she asked me.
"Yeah," I lied hoping that would make her leave me alone.
"I can help you get over her." Aphrodite offered.
"No thanks Aphrodite!" I said getting annoyed now.
When I glanced at her as I was getting up I noticed her expression had changed, was that concentration? And then her expression changed to a smirk, uh oh I thought that can't be good.
She said, "Oh I see you've found someone new."
I glared at her and said, "don't say a word."
"I won't say anything," she said, but from the look on her face I could tell that half the gods would know before the night was out and I figured she would tell her children so half of camp Half-blood would know as well.
